About: Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, small animals, and hoofed animals, and my experience extends far beyond pet ownership. I hold bachelor’s degrees in biology, psychology, and anthropology. My studies in animal behavior, physiology, and research help me better understand animal body language, behavior, and individual needs. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide variety of species, including exotic hoofstock and birds in a zoological setting, as well as pigs, goats, and birds through wildlife rescue and animal care work. I also volunteered in an animal shelter environment for approximately three years, where I handled and photographed thousands of dogs to help them find loving homes. Through that experience, I became comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, ages, temperaments, and energy levels. I have experience administering medications and genuinely enjoy caring for senior pets who may need a little extra patience and attention. I’m also passionate about exercise and an active lifestyle and am happy to provide outdoor walks and enrichment for energetic pets. In addition to my animal background, I hold a master’s degree in counseling, which has strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to remain calm and attentive in a variety of situations. Whether your pet is outgoing, shy, energetic, or senior, my goal is to provide reliable, compassionate care tailored to their individual personality and routine so both you and your pet feel comfortable and at ease. I’m a small business owner and public school teacher, which gives me a structured yet flexible schedule that works well for pet care. I generally have the most availability on weekends, school holidays, and breaks—especially during the summer months—when I can provide extended, consistent care and house sitting. During the school year, I’m typically available in the mornings and evenings on weekdays, with greater flexibility on weekends. I’m always happy to discuss specific dates and needs to see what works best for your pet’s routine. I value consistency, communication, and reliability so that pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for, and owners can enjoy peace of mind while they’re away. I provide pet care in my clients’ homes, where I focus on maintaining each pet’s normal routine in the environment where they feel most comfortable. I follow all care instructions closely and make sure feeding, walks, medication, and daily routines are completed on time and as directed. I treat every home with a high level of respect and care, keeping spaces clean, organized, and exactly as I found them. I’m mindful of both the pet’s needs and the owner’s home, and I prioritize reliability, safety, and consistency in every visit or stay. I also believe clear communication is essential, so I provide updates as needed to give owners peace of mind while they’re away.

About: Hi! I’m Shay, a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for dogs and animals of all kinds! 🐾 I’ve volunteered for years at Animal Care Centers of NYC, New York City’s only open-admission animal shelter, where I gained valuable experience working with animals from different backgrounds. I’ve also fostered multiple dogs, providing them with a safe, loving environment while helping them prepare for their forever homes. I recently worked at a farm animal sanctuary for 3 months full time with sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, geese, cats, bunnies, and dogs. Now I currently volunteer multiple mornings a week at another animal sanctuary here in Kona, where I care for a wide variety of animals including turtles, macaws, guinea pigs, chinchillas, bunnies, and more! Through my shelter work, fostering, and sanctuary experience, I’ve developed a strong understanding of animal behavior, patience, and the importance of making every animal feel safe and comfortable. Whether your pup needs a fun daytime walk, some extra attention while you're away, or a loving and reliable overnight sitter, I’ll treat them like one of my own! I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I’m committed to providing dependable, attentive, and compassionate care. I can't wait to meet your furry family members❤️ I own a small handmade jewelry business and work a combination of freelance and part-time gigs, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of daytime availability! I love spending time outdoors and with animals, so dog walking and pet sitting fit naturally into my lifestyle. I'm available for morning, midday, and afternoon walks, drop-in visits, and overnight pet sitting. I can often accommodate last-minute requests, recurring weekly walks, and your pet's specific routine. I'd love to become a familiar, trusted face your furry friend looks forward to seeing :) Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities! Through volunteering at shelters, fostering multiple dogs, and working at 2 animal sanctuaries on the island, I’ve gained valuable experience caring for animals with different needs and personalities. I always follow each pet’s routine and their owner’s instructions closely. I’m especially mindful of Kona’s heat, hydration, and safe walking conditions. I prioritize clear communication, regular photo updates, and treating every pet and home with love, care, and respect! 🐾

About: I grew up with 2 Australian shepherds and I have shadowed a professional dog trainer. Although I have the most experience with Ausie’s, I am comfortable around all dogs that are friendly to humans :) I have also recently spent time getting to know cats and have fallen in love with them too! I work nights doing manta tours! Usually 4 nights a week, almost full time but not quite. I am happy to take care of your house or pets while you’re away. I am happy to accommodate to any specifications you have for taking care of your fluffy friend. I will pay close attention to all the pets needs and behaviors and follow your instructions. Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Kalaoa. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking bookings, your dog walker can send a Rover Card with details about your dog’s walk. Rover Cards require at least one photo and may include , the total walk time and distance, and any pee or poop breaks recorded by the walker.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your walker interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and walker for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

walkers on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement walker.
