“Kendal was very reliable and took care of my baby on such short notice! Great service and very professional. This is my first time using a sitter, and so I was nervous and anxious but Kendal made the experience easy, and took care of my pup very well! Will definitely book again with her!”

“Michelle is awesome! Clear, consistent communication and an obvious love for animals. She was great and will definitely be using her services again. She went above and beyond!”

“We left our large breed- very spoiled and routine driven dog in Patricia’s care for a week. We had concerns at first because our Dog has never been left alone for much more than a few hours. Patricia experience, knowledge and caring made our summer vacation a pleasant experience. Patricia even took pictures and send updates to my wife which also helped elevate some concerns and stress We highly recommend Patricia .”

“My dog is very wary of new people, and therefore requires someone who really understands dogs. Kelly agreed to meet our dog prior to sitting for us, and my husband was amazed at how our dog (who often has fear-based aggression with new people) INSTANTLY loved Kelly! Kelly sent us pictures 2-3 times a day, which showed us that our dog was having a great time! Will definitely book again!”

“Mara was fabulous with Wags. She paid close attention to what he needed and how he was doing. Communication with her was easy from booking through the visit. Will definitely use her again.”

“Adoni stayed over for 7 nights with my dog Simba and cat Rose. I could tell they were well cared for when I got back and the house may have even looked better than when we left. Adoni sent pictures regularly along with updates. I will not hesitate to book for future stays and if I could leave more than 5 stars I would.”

About: I have lived on a horse farm for the past 4 years, i’ve always been able to care for all my animals all the time. im currently a student so i get out of school pretty early and can care for pets for the rest of the evening or afternoon. I can properly follow all instructions involving your personal animal care. I am able to work with all types of animals in any environment l.

About: My senior dog is 13+ years old now (I've had him since 2015) and whenever friends and family needed pet sitting/drop-in visits/walks they came to me, I have also owned a cat and am caring for a cat currently. I would like to start building up an actual professional client base/reputation if you're willing to give me a shot! I'm mostly available on the weekends for in-house pet sitting or otherwise. For weekdays, I work 8am-5pm M/T/Th/F, and 1pm-10pm on Wednesdays, so it's a bit more difficult unless you just need me to drop in or walk your pet :) I'll take care of your pets however you want me to, we have a very needy Bengal and my senior dog so I'm used to dealing with pets with extra needs.
“Pilar stayed in our house with our Yorkie while we were on vacation. Pilar was very professional and sent photos and updates each day. Unfortunately, our seven night booking with her had to be cut short by three days due to the effects that Pilar experienced from the smell coming from our pilot light of our gas log fireplace. She offered to do drop-in visits for the remaining three days, but I was able to find an alternative for Bella‘s care. I appreciated the fact that she was willing to do what she could to help out. We returned to a clean house and certainly recommend Pilar as a dog/house sitter.”

“Nakia took care of Ivy at the last second and I am very grateful for her. She was attentive of Ivy and her tendencies after only knowing her a short time. Sent me pictures every day!”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life, I’ve had all kinds of animals. I’ve had rabbits and guinea pigs, and many types of dogs. I am currently in school working on getting my vet tech certification, and I have worked at a pet boarding facility before along with a vet office! I am currently in school virtually and working full time doing detailing, so I have a very flexible schedule. I don’t start my work day until abt 10:30, classes are set at my own pace, and I typically finish my work day around 2:30/3 just depends on how long the detail takes me. So my schedule is very flexible and I have the ability to work around it! I live in a townhome apartment complex with 2 cats and a dog. I allow my pets access to everything in my home, same would go for your pets as well! My cats and dog are friendly, and I always leash my dog when taking him outside to use the bathroom or for walks. All my pets are spayed and neutered, and up to date on all their vaccines and on flea and tick prevention.
“Chevaughn did an amazing job! One of my dogs (Toffee) is 'very' skittish & does not warm up to new people well (it often takes weeks - sometimes months - for people just to be able to pet her). However, when we did the first meet & greet, Toffee was curious & got close enough to sniff him, which I thought was a great sign. But then... Chevaughn was actually able to pet her before leaving. She was wary, but let him. It kinda shocked me a bit. We had met with 2 other potential sitters & Toffee wouldn't get near them. With one of them, she wouldn't even come inside the house from the yard, not even for a treat, so long as the lady was there. Chevaughn has great energy, though. He was calm & assertive, moved gently around Carlee & Toffee, and they both became fast friends with him. While we were away, he even sent video of her licking his hand. That was a huge deal... Chevaughn was reliable, on time, consistent & most importantly, he is kind. Next time we need a sitter, he's our guy and I highly recommend him for taking care of your pups..”

About: I have always had a major love for animals! I currently own 1 cat and 1 dog. I have owned dogs, hamsters, turtles, geckos, and a rabbit. I have experience in raising newborns, puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs. I have also cared for other types of animals including cats, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, fish, and reptiles. I always make time to play and cuddle with any type of fur baby to make them feel comfortable with me and happy! I can provide just about any service needed: from feeding to potty breaks, walks, grooming, nail trimming, cleaning ears, cleaning up messes, or administering medication. I currently work in an animal hospital, so I am very familiar and comfortable providing any type of pet care! If possible, please request a booking a week from the dates required so I can work that around my job. I am mainly available on the weekends. Will update availability for the weekdays soon. I make sure all choking hazards, loose cords, or anything dangerous are out of reach. I put away all food and meds that aren't necessary at the current time. If a crate is required for a dog or cat when leaving the home, I make it very comfy and supply toys for comfort!

“This was the second time we had Karen stay at the house to watch our pups. She was amazing!! We got tons of photos and she kept us up to speed on all things. We can’t wait to have her back in Dec!”
“My dogs loved Elizabeth and she was excellent at communication and sending photos. It was such a relief knowing she was taking such good care of them. I highly recommend Elizabeth!!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was a kid and I trained my dog and many other family/friends pets! I’ve had my dog for 9 years. I currently work part time throughout the week and I include and care for my dog any time I am at home. She loves outdoors! I am sure to keep my dog on a leash at all time she is not home and pick up as we go! I also like wiping after going outside.
About: My mom was a vet tech growing up and I have been around dogs of all sizes my whole life. I was raised in a home where every dog deserves a chance, no matter their health or their behavior and it has carried over with me into adulthood. Whether it is doggy day care, house sitting, or in-home boarding, I have experience in doing them all. I am local to parks, I have a fenced-in backyard with a covered back deck that has a fan for cooling off. I can tend to whatever the dogs may need energy level wise. I also enjoy walking all dogs when I exercise. Once play time is over, we have plenty of space in the house for relaxing and sleeping. I am home most of the time, so the dogs won’t be stuck alone for hours on end. I work from home, so there will not be much of a time that the dogs will be alone. I can cater to whatever the dogs need. I do prefer a crate trained dog for if/when I do leave the home for safety for both my home and the dog itself. The fenced in back yard is a huge hit for the dogs when I dog sit them. I am able to separate dogs if I have multiple, if needed. We have plenty of trails to walk, a local park with a walking track. Dogs are allowed on furniture. I have plenty of bones, toys, blankets, and anything to make your dog happy and comfortable.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Julian walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Julian maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Julian choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Julian. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
