“Very communicative, lots of updates/photos, noticed/notified me of every little behavior change which is all VERY appreciated because my dog is allergic to everything, can be reactive, and needs to stick to his routine”

“What a great team Marie & James made! Our senior pet is an active part of our family. We were so worried he wouldn’t understand our being away on a vacation without him. Upon meeting Marie and James, our Cooper seemed comfortable immediately. Their calm and openly friendly attitude was apparent. True to their word, daily pictures and videos were sent with texts. Their experience with older dogs and administering of medications was a relief. Can’t thank or praise them enough. Super nice people. Thank you! Cooper thanks you as well.”

“Carrie spoiled Coco and Chewie for us while we were out of town from Feb14-16. My fur babies couldn’t have been happier. Carrie provided plenty of photo updates daily. She even gave them the cutest presents when I picked them up. I would completely recommend her to anyone who needs her services.”

“They were amazing! Always sending updates and making sure to send pictures. Pika had the best time and I felt so safe and comfortable, leaving her in such good hands.”

“Great experience with Kathleen and Bob. They took very good care of my little guy. They provided daily updates and sent me pictures daily. Definitely using them again to watch my little guy.. thanks so much”

“This was my very first time leaving my two dogs with Annie, and a first time Rover client. Annie was absolutely amazing! I got updates with pictures throughout the duration of my time away, making me feel at ease about the care they were receiving. I was especially nervous to leave my standard Goldendoodle because she has a Megaesophagus and requires special feeding. Annie didn't hesitate, offered a solution that worked, took pictures and spoiled them rotten. They came home happy like they'd been away at the most awesome camp in town! I would highly recommend Annie. Oh, and she made homemade dog biscuits for them, a little special treat to bring home.”

“I wasn't sure my dog Max would want to come back home after spending time with Mayra and all the beings in her warm and comforting home. Her kind and gentle nature put us all at ease.”

“Khyli is great! She sends pictures of the dogs throughout their stay with her and you can tell how much she really loves the dogs! She’s such a great dog sitter!”
“We were so pleased with our experience working with Jennifer! Our dog came back so happy and we could tell she was definitely well taken care of and loved! We were nervous to leave our dog over NYE with all of the fireworks but Jennifer did an excellent job of helping her to feel comfortable. She also provided great daily updates. So happy to have found her and will definitely look to her again for future stays.”

About: I have owned dogs most of my life from a Doberman pinscher to a chowchow to an Australian cattle dog and a couple cats throughout my life. I love animals! I no longer have our latest family Australian cattle dog who was with us for 17 years and miss being around animals. I am an independent contractor in real estate so I can set my own hours. I’m very flexible! I love to get out and walk a lot for exercise for myself as well! I give them lots of love and attention that they need. Play with them and make sure they’re happy, exercised, and well fed at their eating time
“She was very patient and kind with my dog Maple who is still figuring out her own routine. Constantly updated and asked questions to make sure that Maple was getting proper care and made her feel welcomed.”

“Kirsten was absolutely wonderful and Archie had a great time exploring her home. She kept us informed and provided pictures of our boy so we knew he was okay. Archie can't wait to be back. Thank you, Kirsten!”

“Robert did an amazing job with Thor. He can be a tricky dog to handle sometimes but Robert did really great and he was super considerate of Thor's medical issues. I think Thor had a great time with him and he came home a happy dog!”
“I needed a last minute sitter for my pup and luckily Martha accepted my request. She did a meet and greet the same day I submitted my request and asked a lot of questions about the care and schedule for my pup which made me feel reassured. During the stay Martha was very responsive and gave frequent updates with pictures and videos which I appreciated! When I picked up my pup she was very happy and healthy! I would definitely book again!”

“Tesia did a great job. She sent me pictures and videos and Joy enjoyed meeting new friends. Tesia was very attentive noticing that Joy did not drink much water. As a result of her observation I have started adding water to her food and it is working very well. Thank you Tesia for your care of Joy.”

“We’re so grateful she accepted our last-minute booking and took fantastic care of our senior dog. She checked in regularly and kept us updated daily for the six days she had her, which gave us peace of mind. We highly recommend her services and will definitely utilize her again🐾”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hood home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hood.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Hood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
