“Very communicative, lots of updates/photos, noticed/notified me of every little behavior change which is all VERY appreciated because my dog is allergic to everything, can be reactive, and needs to stick to his routine”

“I just got my fur babies back from Anais’s overnight stay. She was so kind and caring to them! They adjusted well, and I was really happy with how she took care of them and kept me in the loop. We’ll definitely recommend her as a sitter again and can confidently recommend her to other fur parents who need pet care.”

“Achara was wonderful with our dog. He had a great time running, chasing, and playing with her dogs. Achara was great about sending pictures and updates. We are already planning the next time our dog can stay with her!”

“My husband and I had a destination wedding & 2 week honeymoon right after and Briana watched our fur baby for 20 days! Olive loved being there for an extended stay and was so well taken care of! I would recommend Briana over and over again! Best dog sitter in Elk Grove! She is quick to respond and loves the pups like her own!!”

“Minhhan has been wonderful with our senior Shih Tzu. Delilah has lots of anxiety and it takes time for her to feel comfortable around new people. Minhhan has been very patient with Delilah and Delilah has become very fond of Minhhan. We have already set it up another boarding appointment with her. You can definitely tell she is an animal lover and Delilah and our family are so happy to have found Minhhan.”

“Anton was a fantastic sitter for our dog, Kingsley! He stayed for four days, and we received daily photo updates along with little notes on how he was doing, which we really appreciated. Kingsley had access to a great backyard and got along well with the other dogs, which made it feel like a little doggy vacation. Anton followed all our feeding instructions perfectly and was super easy to communicate with. Overall, we’re very happy with the experience and wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again!”

“Annie was GREAT! Not only is my dog the size of a mini horse, it was his first time being around non-family for an extended period of time. Annie offered a meet and greet to help ease our concerns being away from Herbert. She took so much care and introduced Herbert to the other dogs at a slow pace which was wonderful. Annie provided several updates throughout the day every day we were gone, including videos! It was our first time using a pet boarding service and I am so grateful for her understanding. She went the extra mile and made it all so effortless. Thanks again Annie. Herbert truly enjoyed himself and we look forward to having him visit again!”

“I wasn't sure my dog Max would want to come back home after spending time with Mayra and all the beings in her warm and comforting home. Her kind and gentle nature put us all at ease.”

About: Dogs have always been a part of my life. I have been a go-to sitter for family and friends for many years and look forward to having your furry friend join my dog Trixie and me for the day. I am a notary who works from home. My notary work takes only a few hours a week, so I have lots of time to be present and care for your pet. Trixie and I would enjoy taking your dog on walks in the neighborhood; we have a park around the corner. I have a fenced backyard with room for your pet to run around or stretch out in the sun and relax. My 13-pound dog Trixie is calm and friendly and loves having other dogs come to stay.
“Great experience with Kathleen and Bob. They took very good care of my little guy. They provided daily updates and sent me pictures daily. Definitely using them again to watch my little guy.. thanks so much”

“You guys are amazing! You took great care of Maggie! I was sent regular updates with photos and videos. We were able to completely relax on our trip knowing our pup was in great hands. We can't wait to book our next stay!"”

“Aya was very responsive and communicated very well. She took care of Koda like he was her own pup. We received updates and photos and he came back home super happy. Would recommend again! Thank you!”
About: I have owned dogs most of my life from a Doberman pinscher to a chowchow to an Australian cattle dog and a couple cats throughout my life. I love animals! I no longer have our latest family Australian cattle dog who was with us for 17 years and miss being around animals. I am an independent contractor in real estate so I can set my own hours. I’m very flexible! I love to get out and walk a lot for exercise for myself as well! I give them lots of love and attention that they need. Play with them and make sure they’re happy, exercised, and well fed at their eating time

“Sheri was very caring and attentive to our dog Cotton’s needs and medication schedule. She took him on walks and sent us many video updates. We will definitely book her again.”

“My pup got a country getaway - pigs, goats, horses, lots of land run. He's whipped, as he hasn't left his favorite chair since we got home!. I had a last minute work trip for just a night, so had to scramble to find a sitter, but Kristen was available and communicated well before the trip. While my dog stayed, I received frequent updates with pictures of a dog smiling that no dog could fake. He was well cared for and I'd definitely use her again. Thank you Kristen!!!”

“Amazing sitter! Felt so much better knowing my girl was in caring, competent hands. Could not recommend enough. Was updated throughout her stay with pictures and text messages. Maggie was treated like a queen.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Vorden home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Vorden.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Vorden sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
