“Nadine took SUCH good care of my pups! They loved their time with her. The backyard is amazing… so much room to roam. And her pets got along so well with mine. Lots of communication and photos. It was so nice to know my babies were being loved on so much while I was away. I’d definitely recommend Nadine!!!!”

“Susie was truly amazing! She treated my dog like family. Sent lots of photos every day. Walked him every day. My biggest fear was that my dog wouldn’t want to come home after spending a week with Susie!! Every aspect of his stay with Susie was more than I could have asked for.”

“Liz provided a great boarding experience for our 7 month old German Shepard "Leo". This was Leo's first overnight boarding experience and Liz was very attentive to his adjustment to the other dogs and overall experience. Leo arrived home happy and relaxed. We will definitely board with Liz again.”

“First time users of Rover. We had an absolutely wonderful experience! They took amazing care of Mia, keeping her active with lots of fun walks and plenty of playtime. We loved receiving so many photo updates throughout her stay—it completely put our mind at ease seeing how happy and well cared for she was. We highly recommend their services!”

“We had to leave our 5 month old pup for first time since bringing him home for a total of 7 nights with a sitter and couldn't have been happier having him spend his time with Melody. The daily pictures I was receiving made me question if he'd even want to come home :) Thank you for taking such good care of Ryker ab”

“Barbara is a great awesome caregiver for my Maggie. She kept us updated every day and it seemed like Maggie probably didn’t wanna come home cause barber shows a lot of love towards animals. I would recommend her highly.”

“Samantha and Brian’s family watched our Wheaten Terrier for two weeks. They kept us updated with photos and we knew he was in good hands. Thanks for giving Charlie lots of snuggles while we were away.”

“I cannot say enough about Cassandra and Trevor and the care they have shown our two dogs diesel and bruiser! They stayed for a week and had so much fun, they were well taken care of and honestly I think Diesel would rather stay longer with them🤣 we can’t wait to see you guys again!!! Thank you so very much😘”

“Sharon gave our twelve year old Bennett all the love and care he deserves (of course we think he does) plus knowing that we had not left on vacation for years kept in touch with us frequently enough we knew he was doing fine. We would not hesitate to use her again. Highly recommend.”

“My husband and I would highly recommend Stan to care for your fur baby! I admit I am a helicopter dog parent! I immediately felt at ease when meeting Stan and viewing his pet friendly home! He has put so much thought into creating a dog friendly yard for the pups to play and relax. It was obvious he has a love of animals and a vast amount of experience! He will be our go to person for our big fur baby! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟”

“Wonderful people with a wonderful environment for dog(s). My puppy had a blast :) They sent me multiple pictures and kept me updated at all times. They are very responsive and full of care”

“My doggos have never been more chill! When I picked them up Shauna walked them out and they were genuinely surprised to see me standing there. They were well cared for and we will want to be on the repeat list! Big thanks for all the good care and snuggles too.”

“Sue was incredible! Our pup, Cass, was so sad that our luggage was out and was obviously feeling very anxious, but as soon as she met Sue and got to see her incredible yard, all her fears were eased! Sue sent us the cutest updates and we never worried about how Cass was. We will definitely have Sue watch our pup again in the future!”

“Serena was so sweet with Chewy and sent photos of him and Nugget on there walks and playing together. Great communication and responsiveness! We would definitely book again with Serena!”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had as many as three dogs at a time and have raised several of them from puppies through their senior years. Within the last couple of years, I said goodbye to my dogs as they reached old age, and after taking a little break, I’m ready to have dogs in my life again. Rover feels like the perfect way to do that while helping other people feel confident that their pets are in good hands. I have plenty of experience with large dogs and am very comfortable with their personalities, energy, and needs. My most recent dog was a Great Dane who lived to be 13 years old, so I also have firsthand experience caring for senior dogs and the extra patience and attention they sometimes need. Over the years, I’ve also owned and cared for pit bulls, boxers, terriers, and other breeds with a wide range of personalities and energy levels. I’ve raised dogs from puppies, cared for them throughout their adult lives, and helped them comfortably through their senior years. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy being around dogs. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, quirks, and comfort level, and I’m happy to adapt to what makes your dog feel safe, relaxed, and at home. I currently work from home and so does my other half. There would be very few times your pet would be left unattended while staying in our home. We have a large home with a huge fenced backyard so your dog can play freely without worry. Currently we do not have any pets of our own. For larger dogs we still have elevated food and water dishes.

“Charisse was fabulous in caring for our Lexi. She kept us apprised of how things were going, and we had a happy relaxed pup upon our return. Can’t wait for our next vacation and Lexi’s next sleepover!”

“This is Masha's 4th or 5th stay with Dottie. Dottie sends regular communication about your beloved pet. Masha always has a great time at Dottie's and is always well taken care of!”
“Peter and Missy are fantastic! They took excellent care of our dogs and provided daily updates and photos, which we really appreciated. The only other time we have used this service to book care, the caregiver was also watching about six other dogs and we only got one brief note in the middle of the stay. With Peter and Missy, they only had one other dog for a short part of the stay, but the rest of the time it was just our dogs and theirs, Gunner. One of our dogs is blind and the other one is very needy, so we are always a little worried, but we did not have to be concerned at all. It was obvious that they were being given all the attention and care that we would hope for, and they became fast friends with Gunner. We will 100% use Peter and Missy in the future!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Holcomb
Cassie has the education, training, and experience such that she understands dogs. She took excellent care of my Trixie and Trixie had a wonderful time there. As a bonus, with her mad photography skills you will get some great photographs of your dog! The one thing I was hesitant about was that I was never allowed to physically see the spaces occupied by the dogs, though we did a Zoom call and she took me through remotely. I agreed to it and it was fine, though if Trixie had been a few months younger I could not have done it given that with other Rover sitters I've seen things left out (tissues, plastic bags) I knew Trixie would try to eat. But if you don't have that kind of puppy-worry, Zoom should work for you and Cassie provides very professional and loving structure and care for the dogs.

Can’t say enough good things! Dominique and her partner took excellent care of my dog Charlie, who was diagnosed with diabetes this year. They were able to manage, checking his blood sugars periodically, and administer sugar when he was running slightly low one day. They sent loads of photo updates and check-ins that made me feel reassured that he was in great hands would definitely use them again!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Holcomb home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Holcomb.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Holcomb sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
