“Amanda is always amazing! She has checked on my cats and chickens for me two or three times now, and she never disappoints! Her updates are thorough, she shares adorable pictures of my babies, and even feeds snacks to the chickens sometimes. They are used to our kitchen scraps on a daily basis, so I'm sure they really apperciate the snacks she gives while we are gone. 😊 The cats love her and love her attention. She hangs out the full half hour to give them the love they crave while we are gone. I couldn't apperciate her more!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and treat every pet as if they were my family. As a dog owner and a person with anxiety, I know how important it is to find someone you can trust with your fur baby. I’m fully committed to making them feel safe, loved, and comfortable. I’m a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, so patience, attentiveness, and communication are all qualities of mine. I pay close attention to each pet’s unique personality and needs, and I’m more than happy to accommodate medication schedules, special feeding routines, puppy care, and senior pet care. As a military spouse, I 100% understand that plans can change and am very flexible. My goal is to provide dependable care and regular updates with plenty of photos so you always know how your pet is doing. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! I am now home full-time with my son who is 3 months old. Therefore, I have pretty open availability to provide loving and reliable care for your fur babies. I live in a military community that is dog friendly and I also have a mini labradoodle who can keep your dog company! He absolutely loves new friends!

About: I have taken care of pets my entire life, which has given me a deep, lifelong understanding of animal behavior and needs. My experience goes far beyond standard pet sitting; I am the proud parent of a special needs, insulin-dependent fur baby. Because of this, I am completely comfortable and experienced with administering medications, maintaining strict schedules, and monitoring vital health cues. I know how stressful it can be to leave a pet behind—especially one with medical needs—and I promise to bring that exact same level of devotion, vigilance, and love to your home. I look forward to meeting you and taking care of your fur baby like, they are one of my own! I have taken care of pets my entire life, which has given me a deep, lifelong understanding of animal behavior and needs. My experience goes far beyond standard pet sitting; I am the proud parent of a special needs, insulin-dependent fur baby. Because of this, I am completely comfortable and experienced with administering medications, maintaining strict schedules, and monitoring vital health cues. Because I work from home, pet care seamlessly integrates into my daily routine, allowing me to offer unmatched attentiveness and flexible scheduling throughout the day. Being steps away at all times means I am always available to maintain strict medication timelines, monitor health cues, and provide companionship whenever it's needed. I know how stressful it can be to leave a pet behind—especially one with medical needs—and I promise to bring that exact same level of devotion, vigilance, and love to your home. I look forward to meeting you and taking care of your fur baby like, they are one of my own! When caring for your pets in their own home, my absolute priority is maintaining their familiar routine, comfort, and security while ensuring they remain safely inside. Because my own fur babies are inside-only apartment pets, I am naturally vigilant about home safety, secure entryways, and preventing any accidental escapes. I focus on replicating their exact daily schedules, from precise feeding and medication times to their preferred play and rest windows. By providing dedicated, one-on-one attention in the environment where they feel most confident, I ensure they receive both the physical care and the comforting companionship they need to feel completely relaxed and happy while you are away.

Some have needed medication and lots of walks, some just needed a friend, I love doing anything/everything. I do not currently own any pets and would love to be outside and more active. I would be available to do walks/drop ins around 3:30pm-9pm Monday-Thursday and most times Fridays-Sundays. Dog sitting availability depends on needs and pet schedule but please reach out about anything! I have worked with crates, dog doors, or dogs being inside all day and need walks/potty breaks. I hope we can work something out between us and your loved fur baby.

About: I’ve cared for animals for most of my life and genuinely love getting to know each pet’s unique personality, routines, and comfort needs. I have experience with dogs of many temperaments, including anxious, sensitive, high-energy, senior, and medically complex pets. I’m calm, observant, and very attentive to behavioral changes, body language, and routines. I know how important consistency and emotional safety are for animals, especially when their owners are away. I’m also experienced with administering medications, reinforcing routines, long walks, enrichment/play, and providing patient companionship for pets who need a slower or more thoughtful approach. Cleanliness, communication, and reliability are very important to me, and I’ll treat your pets and home with care and respect. I work part-time remotely as a psychologist, which gives me flexibility and allows me to provide attentive care and companionship throughout the week. Fridays through Mondays are generally my most open days for walks, drop-ins, and daytime care. Tuesdays through Thursdays tend to be my busier workdays, so during those days I’m best suited for overnight care, house sitting where I can work remotely from your home, or boarding/day care in my home for pets who are comfortable relaxing while I work nearby. I still prioritize regular walks, enrichment, affection, and maintaining your pet’s normal routine throughout the day. I’m thoughtful about only taking bookings I can genuinely show up well for, and I value consistency, communication, and helping pets feel safe, calm, and cared for while their owners are away. Safety, trust, and attentiveness are extremely important to me when caring for animals. I take time to learn each pet’s routines, temperament, triggers, exercise needs, and comfort level so I can provide care that feels consistent and supportive for them. In my home, pets are always supervised carefully and kept on leash outside. I prioritize safe walks, enrichment, play, companionship, and calm structure rather than simply letting dogs loose in a yard. I’m attentive to body language, behavioral changes, and environmental safety, especially for anxious, senior, or sensitive pets. In clients’ homes, I’m respectful, clean, communicative, and mindful of maintaining the routines and environment pets are already comfortable with.

About: My love for animals started when I was a little girl. Animals have always been my go to for happiness comfort and love. Meeting new animals always brings me joy. I understand the trust and responsibility that comes with taking care of someone's fur babies. I'm an open book I'm currently going to school online so I have a completely flexible schedule and can't wait for this new venture in my life I prefer not to care for animals in my own home. About: BIPOC REQUESTZ ONLY I have loved and spent time with Frend Dogz & Katz from early age. I grew up with a Frend Dog from when they was a puppy until they passed away at sixteen years old. I am currently a student taking online classes, so my hours are really flexible. I am also available for house sitting on weekends. Reach out to me for any questions/concerns! About: I have babysat many of my friends pets. I like to take them on walks because not only do they get their exercise I also get mine. I like to play with them and see them be joyful causing me to smile. My parents also own a dog breeding business and as a kid I would help them also so I know quite about dogs (puppies). Hi! I’m a professional caregiver with experience caring for disabled adults and geriatric patients. My work has taught me the importance of patience, compassion, attentiveness, and treating every individual with the same care and respect I would want for my own family. I’m also currently pursuing my law degree, and while my career goals are important to me, caring for animals brings me a completely different kind of happiness and joy. I genuinely love being around pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, feeding, medication reminders, or simply some extra love and attention, I’m happy to help! I understand that pets are family, and I’ll treat your furry friend like one of my own. 🐾❤️ I care for every pet with patience, attention, and plenty of love. I follow each pet parent’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, routines, and any special needs. In a client’s home, I make sure pets feel comfortable and secure in their familiar environment while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. I also keep their space clean and make sure they receive plenty of companionship and attention. My professional caregiving experience with disabled adults and geriatric patients has taught me to be observant, dependable, and attentive to individual needs. I bring that same level of care to every pet I look after. My goal is for your pet to feel safe, happy, loved, and cared for while you’re away. 🐾❤️

Clarissa was a total rockstar!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ She stopped by our home every other day for 2 weeks while we were on our honeymoon. She watched our 2 cats, Little Sister and Beans; and her updates, messages, and pictures showed her commitment to ensuring that our fur-babies felt safe, comfortable, and loved while we were away. We were happy to see our cats engaging with her and growing comfortable with her presence, and we would HIGHLY recommend her for any future sitting needs. 💜 She is simply lovely!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
