About: Prior to moving towns I used to pet sit for all of my neighbors. Pets large and small, it didn’t matter but it was always fun. I’m starting my MBA next fall so anything earned on here will go towards that goal of mine! I’ve owned pets for over 12 years and have been taking care of others for 6 so almost all throughout high school and undergrad. I can walk multiple dogs at once, great with elderly animals, experienced with puppies, able to administer pet medication, etc. If you have questions reach out! Currently I am taking two online summer courses for my MBA with Sacred Heart University. I go to the gym 4 times a week and work drop in bartending shifts sometimes on weekends. Since I make my own schedule pet care fits very well into it because I can tailor mine to fit the animals needs! I don’t offer in home care at the moment because my sister recently got hip surgery so I’m waiting until she’s more comfortable to have other peoples pets at home. Otherwise I have two sweet dogs who have coexisted well with pets that I’ve taken care of in the past as well as cats they stay in their own room.

“Liz is absolutely fantastic! My dogs loved her and she went out of her way to ensure they were comfortable and happy while I was away! She even found an amazing channel called The Pet Collective that she put on for the pups and they loved it! I highly recommend her services, she is extremely friendly, professional and incredible with my pets! Thanks Liz! The fur babies and I will see you again soon!”

About: I have grown up taking care of my Britney Spaniel and now care for my rescue Shih Tzu mix. My Britney was very active so I have a lot of experience walking and playing with a dog that never runs out of energy! My Shih Tzu is far more reserved, and enjoys lounging, but I can still get her to play every so often. I also just took in a stray cat and have begun caring for it. I am unsure of her background, so I take things slow but she is lovable and playful so it’s been a pleasure getting to know her. I am currently working part-time and have shifts on Tuesday, Fridays, and saturdays. On those days I can still come in for half the day and care for the pet. The other days of the week I am able to come pretty freely I can be very warm and cuddly but also know when pets just want to be left alone. I’ll adapt to your pets preferences!

“She was great with our pups. One fairly energetic, but in need of calm because he was recovering from knee surgery, and the other a 17 year old diva who is mostly blind and mostly deaf. Will definitely book again.”

About: If you're looking for a dog-lover and loyal caretaker, I'm here for you and your pet! I'm happy to provide a loving space for your pet while you travel, or walks when needed. I work from home mostly--I am in the office two days a week (every Tuesday and Wednesday.) All other days I am flexible with my schedule. Pets are welcome on my furniture--while they are here, they are free to make themselves comfortable! Playtime, walks and car rides (if they like them) are encouraged.
About: I have extensive experience caring for dogs. I enjoy taking them on walks, engaged with them in play, and provided attentive, compassionate care. If you’re looking for someone to care for your dog, you’ve found the place. Im a direct support precessional with a relatively flexible schedule. I live in Suffern, NY. I like to pet sit/walk dogs when I have free time. I provide food, water and a comfortable place for your fur-babies to sleep. I crate my dog and will crate upon request. I can administer medications as needed as well.
“David did an outstanding job watching our dog, Trixie. He walked her often during the day, and had her out early in the morning and well into the evening. He came to our home the day before his scheduled time to meet with us, and to see the dog. He wanted Trixie to see us together with him, so she would be comfortable knowing that he was an accepted part of our pet family. He left our home in perfect condition when we came back from a brief vacation. David is a very nice person and he is well suited with pets. I would have David back in the future when his services are again needed. Roseann and Mike b”

About: I grew up in a family used to dogs and cats who have lovingly owned us 😁. I personally have owned mostly cats as I live in a building that does not allow dogs. I have experience in administering medication as well. I work per diem at West Point Military Academy and would not accept a house sitting or walking assignment unless I was truly available the days needed. I love to walk and am very active, so I have absolutely no problem with taking your dog out for walks and playing. My priority is to make sure your pet is secure and loved while you are away.
“Maddie was by far the best dog sitter. I have two golden retrievers that love to run, play fetch and go on hikes. She did all of the above and more. she sent me pictures, took the dogs hiking at the reservation, they went on 2 mile walks, played fetch and were very well taken care of. She is kind, respectful, communicative, and truly loved our fur babies. I highly recommend her. I will definitely hire her when we travel. I cannot thank her enough!! 🩷🦴🐾🦮”

“Yhakerra took excellent care of our Bailey over the weekend. She kept us updated so we had one less thing to worry about while attending our son’s wedding. Will definitely be in contact for any future needs.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Ivy, who stayed overnight with our two Bernese Mountain Dog pups. She was incredibly attentive, engaging them with playtime and making sure they were comfortable and happy throughout her stay. Ivy provided regular updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. Above all, she was professional, polite, and courteous. We highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a dependable and caring sitter.”

About: I have been walking and babysitting dogs for 4 years. In addition, I have two dogs of my own, one which I’ve had for around 9 years. My newest one I got as a puppy, so I have experience with dogs of all ages. Besides dogs, I used to have two holland lop rabbits. Overall, I have a lot of experience with pets of all kinds as I had grown up in a household full of pets! I am currently a rising senior in college. I will be based in Rockland County from June 16th to August 18th. I will be available almost every day to walk and petsit your dogs as needed! I live in a town house with 2 small dogs, my sister, and my mom. There is an easily accessible park that I take my dogs to play in very often. I have multiple crates available around my house to provide a safe space for them to sleep. In a client’s home, I typically ask for a schedule that contains walking and feeding times and would do things they usually do in their daily routines.

About: I have taken care of two golden retrievers of my own. I have experience working with puppies as well as larger sized dogs. I love playing with dogs and making sure their needs are met. I’m currently working at a school and will have more availability this summer to take additional clients. I am available in the afternoon and evenings. I thrive off of detailed explanation from pet parents on how to make their fur babies more comfortable while their parents are away. I make sure to leave everything clean and tidy after my service is complete.
About: I started my experience dog walking 2 years ago for a professor’s friend in Winchester, Virginia. Twice a week, I would walk her hyper pups. She then recommended me to her father, whose dog I began walking twice a week as well. From there, my mini business boomed through word of mouth. I began dog sitting in people’s homes as well for multiple individuals for varying time spans. Most of the dogs I interacted with were seniors and required extensive care. However, all dogs owners loved and recommended me to others! I still walk the original dogs and add in others as my schedule allows with two other jobs. I am sad to leave my extensive clientele in Winchester, but I am moving back to New Jersey for graduate school and excited to meet new puppy friends!! For the summertime, I am incredibly flexible with nothing planned. I prefer weekly walks / drop ins, but also like sitting as well. In August, I start physical therapy school at Columbia University so my availability will decrease but I’d be willing to provide services on nights / weekends. During breaks, my availability will open up again! Whenever walking / sitting, I respect the owner’s rules, no matter what. I long to maintain utmost cleanliness and adherence to routine as physically possible. I am also very communicative and honest, building trust with my clients.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hillburn
Kyra is a top notch professional. She sent me tons of pics and updates throughout the day when she was dog sitting at my home. She paid much attention to my dog and even felt that he had a tick! (which she removed expertly.) She took great care of my house too. My dog was happy when I got home. Would definitely recommend!

David took great care of our two senior dogs in our home while we were away for the weekend. He was extremely responsive to check-in inquiries and very accommodating to our dogs’ specific needs. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in need of excellent care for their pets.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hillburn
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 15,811 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hillburn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillburn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillburn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillburn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
