“Elizabeth was fantastic! She sent pics and updates throughout the day while we were out! Our boy, Mav, was wiped out when we got home! He is about 3 1/2 yr old spoiled rotten Sheepadoodle! We would HIGHLY recommend her for your fur baby! She is kind and very patient - Mav took to her immediately!”

“Karla is amazing!!! We were nervous leaving our puppy for the first time and she put us right at ease. She is just so sweet and our Penelope loves her. She sent pictures and updates all of the time we were gone. So excited to have found her!!!”

About: I believe every dog deserves to feel safe, loved, and understood. I'm naturally patient and enjoy taking the time to get to know each dog's personality and comfort level. I also have experience caring for a dog with extreme anxiety, so I'm comfortable providing extra reassurance, sticking to routines, and creating a calm environment. My goal is to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible while giving you peace of mind that they're in caring hands. I currently work part-time, with shifts typically lasting 6–7 hours in either the morning or evening. As a pet owner myself, I'm experienced in balancing work and providing attentive care. I prioritize making sure all pets receive plenty of attention, exercise, and TLC, and I plan my schedule accordingly to ensure they're well cared for while in my care. I have a large, fully fenced yard where pets can safely play and explore. I also have two dogs and two cats who are friendly, well-socialized, and get along well with other animals. There is a quiet park near my home that I usually bring my dogs to walk. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment where every pet feels at home.
About: I've grown up with dogs since I was 5 and cats since about a year ago. I'm far more familiar with dogs and their needs and enjoy walking with them and caring for them. I currently have two medium sized dogs who love snuggles, walks, and playing. I work part time at the Lakeland Veterinary and Hospital as a Kennel Technician. My schedule varies on a monthly basis as schedules are typically given out for the upcoming month. The first week of the month is the most difficult for me to schedule as typically the work schedule hasn’t been sent out yet. As for my work schedule it varies time frames ranging from 7am-5pm or 4pm-9pm on week days while weekends are typically 7am-1pm or 4pm-9pm. Recently due to being short staffed I’ve volunteered to do doubles which is 7am-8pm with an hour lunch break. I'll be happy to discuss any time frames whether I know my schedule or not. I have two dogs (Brittany Spaniel and a very mixed breed but mostly resembles a treeing walker coonhound) at my house between 30lbs and 50lbs who love snuggles and playing with each other. I go on a lot of walks with my dogs as they're both friendly and energetic. I make sure my puppies are well fed, have clean water, and are given all the love they can possibly receive every day
“My dog and I were very happy with Christian. Christian is awesome, very attentive and caring. He kept me updated throughout the day with comments, photos and videos. I felt very comfortable leaving my Scooby with Christian. I will definitely hire him again. Thank you for taking such good care of my Scooby prince.”

“I have nothing but good things to say about Erika. I booked with her at the last minute (after my original sitter canceled) and I am so grateful I did! Erika was very communicative, responsive, and took great care of my girl while I was away across the country. She kept me updated throughout the stay with pictures - capturing some of my now favorite photos of her. Erika's schedule was flexible enough to extend the stay another night after my flight was canceled. When I returned, I could tell my girl was happy, healthy, and well taken care of, as well as my home. I look forward to booking with her in the future. Thank you, Erika!”

“I absolutely adored Penny, she took great care of my animals but also knew I had a stressful day returning to my kiddos that she got the house ready for me and honestly it was amazing. I will forever only hire her for anytime I leave for another holiday.”

About: I’m all about fun, friendly energy on every walk. Your pup gets to explore, play, and enjoy a safe, joyful journey every time we hit the pavement or grass! I have tons of pet care experience: I have two senior dogs of my own, aged 13 & 15, who I’ve had since they were old enough to be without their mommas; I’ve worked as a pet specialist at a boarding facility for dogs and cats; and I pet every dog I meet—with permission, of course. Like everyone, I love dogs, and would love to give yours some company on a play visit or walk! I work from home, and have a flexible schedule. I prefer to have a two-day notice, so I can make sure I’m available when you need me, but depending on the day, I could be available same-day too. Just contact me and see! I do not care for anyone’s pets but my own in my home. But in a client’s home, I care for pets by giving them what they need—I think it really depends on the desire of the client and the pets! Case by case basis. Belly and chin scratches are always a given though!
“Christina was great with our dog and cat. She kept to their schedules and stayed at our place for several nights. You couldn't even tell she had been here. We wouldn't hesitate to use her again.”

“Lyndsay was super communicative with me from start to finish. My flight got delayed and offered to stay a few extra hours past what we agreed upon. She sent me pics of my babies throughout the day and the entire weekend. I highly recommend her and trust her with my pups!”

“We are so thankful for Mattison! She was wonderful with our Frenchie and our kitty. Very caring and so loving! She kept us updated with messages, pictures and videos which we loved. She is highly recommended and we can’t wait to book her again ! Thank you again Mattison!”

“Shawnee was so sweet with our 11 yr old Wyatt. She stayed in contact with texts and photos. I was very nervous about leaving Wyatt as we have not left him with a sitter but her calm and kind demeanor kept him content. Highly recommend!”

“Cathy was wonderful with my Daisy!! She sent texts and pictures daily while we were away! Communicated very well with us on everything ! Will definitely use her again!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Highland City
Karla was absolutely wonderful with my two Golden Retrievers, Shiloh and Snow. She was kind, responsible, communicative, and clearly cared for them as if they were her own. Throughout my trip, I had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such loving and capable hands. She kept me updated, followed all care instructions, and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and comfortable. I returned home to two very well-cared-for and content dogs. I highly recommend Karla and will gladly book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland City. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
