“We had an unexpected need for a pet sitter for house sitting at the last minute over the holidays. Mae made an effort to be flexible to accommodate our travel schedule and she put us at ease right away with her attention to the details and her comfort with our 2 dogs and our cat. Mae's communication was excellent throughout the visit (she also took some great pictures). She left our house clean and all the pets were relaxed and peaceful when we arrived home. With senior pets and a recent rescue, we had some special needs and Mae handled it all well. We hope to have Mae pet sit with us again!”

About: Hi! My name is Taylor and I am a caring, responsible, and patient pet lover. I have experience caring for a variety of different animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, chickens, and fish. I enjoy spending my time with animals and would love to my spend my time caring for your animals! Please reach out if you have any more questions and I would be glad to answer them. :) I am currently working remotely full time so I would be able to give your animals lots of attention in the mornings and evenings but I will also be able to check on them throughout my work hours. I like to meet with pet parents before staying in their home to learn their routine and how they care for their animals. I like to make a list of all the things pet parents tell me so I can ensure that I provide the best care for their animals.

She responded quickly and accepted our booking last minute after two other sitters canceled, was so accommodating to set up a meeting beforehand, gave prompt and detailed updates throughout our time away and went above and beyond to make sure our pup was comfortable. Couldn’t recommend her more and will absolutely book her again and again! She took the best care of our pup!”

About: I've had animals in my house for over 20 years. Spanninng a cockatiel, a cat, five dogs and my clown fish who are going on 18 years old. Once, I drove the bird into the Tuft's vet school in a blizzard on a weekend night. Another time I took one of the clown fish into the Tufts satellite clinic on a Sunday because he hadn't eaten for days. Both pets lived to tell their tale. Cats are great, I love how they set the rules :) But dogs are where my heart is, especially Airedales, and rescue dogs are a labor of love! My priorities start with my pet family, unless I'm taking care of yours. Then, your pets become my priority. I work from home most of the time and that allows me to have the ultimate flexibility in my schedule so that I can care for your pets as appropriate, on their time. I've raised my dog training game significantly over the past few years, attending regular sessions with my trusted trainer, Baptiste. Our work has focused on highly reactive dogs and also puppy training. Like kids, pets can do no wrong. I do not get upset with them, I just clean the mess ;)

About: I’ve been pet sitting since 2024, originally helping my mom out with her own pet sitting business. For the past 6 months, I’ve been offering services of my own. I have experience with both cats and dogs and specialize in in-home stays to keep your pets happy and comfortable in their own home. I graduated high school early in January and have been working on my pet care company since then. I am not currently in school, giving me 24/7 availability. I believe the best way to care for pets is to keep their routine as close to normal as possible. This is why I love house sitting for my clients, as their furry friends get to stay in their own home!

Her professionalism, attentiveness, and attention to instructions is something we should all strive for in our respective fields. My wife and I had absolutely zero concerns about the well-being of our doggos with Aja, which made for that much more enjoyable of a trip for us knowing they were in the absolute best hands. 10/10 WILL book again.”

About: My parents realized I needed a dog in my life when I was child because I would try to pet my fish... ;) As a family we've had dogs since I was around 6 years old. I began dog-sitting for a neighbor when I was in middle school and that included helping care for two puppies when I was a bit older. Over the last few years my petsitting/housesitting relationships have steadily increased. I've helped friends by caring for their puppies, dogs, senior dogs, kittens, cats, and even a bird! Before I moved to NC I had keys for about 5 friends' homes since I am on standby for pet-sitting duties when they go out of town. My boyfriend and I are the proud parents of 1 dog, 2 cats, and 21 quail chicks! I am currently working 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday in Holly Springs but hope my schedule works to care for your fur babies! I am typically very flexible during weekends. As someone who had an escape artist dog growing up I know the importance of safety, including keeping doors closed. I'm familiar with many different types of leashes, halters, Gentle Leader, even muzzles and am confident in using any your dog may utilize. I am also happy to crate your puppy/dog if needed.

“I don't even have the words to describe how amazing Carly was. I asked her last minute to stay in my apartment for three weeks and take care of my pup Fergie while I was away on a business trip. I was so anxious about having some at the apartment and about how Fergie would react while I was away but she did an awesome job. So many fun trips to the park, hiking, long walks and all with adorable pics of my pup. He probably lived a better life with her there than with me! I was so relieved to know Fergie had someone who would care for him so well while I was gone and when I came back, Fergie was happy, the apartment was clean, she even did laundry! When Carly left Fergie waited as the door and cried for her to come back. You could tell he truly bonded with her. I will absolutely be asking Carly to watch my pup again and would highly recommend her to anyone!”

About: DISCLAIMER * As of 10/26/2024 * If i cannot meet you and your pets before the start of the booking, i will not accept the booking. This has become a safety issue for me. I will no longer be able to accept verbal verification that your pet will be fine with a stranger entering the home. (Exceptions are small puppies) I have taken care of dogs and cats since I was 10. My neighbor growing up had 4 cats, that I loved dearly! She was the first person who allowed me to watch her fur babies when she went on vacation! I've pet sat many times since then. Dogs big and small of all breeds from a little pug to a 100lb+ Rottweiler. I own a 85lb pit bull mix and a 10lb weenier dog. 🐶 They are my babies.💗 I can drop in anytime to check on your fur babies. Spend extra time with them. I do bathing, and walks also! If you need your fur babies to be crated, no problem! I will make sure their safety comes first. You can put your mind at ease knowing your pets will be taken care of! This is my full time job, I enjoy every second of it! So day or night I can always do a drop in visit or a walk! Your pets safety comes first! So during a meet and greet I will be going over a small list of questions to make sure I can take care of your fur baby to the best of my ability. With this I create a “pet profile” so when you need to rebook with me I’ve already got a reference to look back at. EXAMPLE; if your dog is good with other animals, or if there is a certain amount of food that needs to be given. These are just notes I make for myself, and so you can rest assured your fur baby is getting the best care!

About: Because I love animals, not only dogs. Im experienced about them, because I was working in a petshop for 1 year. I like to spend time with them. I had an aquiarum and a budgie in my home few years ago. Im an honest and trustworthy person. I also like to walk anyways. And I know all pet owners are nice people. Because they care about another life. They have grace. Im studying accounting in masters and I was looking for a part-time job to help myself. It will also help me to meet new people and spend time with their beautiful dogs. Im thinking to own a dog in future. It will also help me to gain more experience about pet caring. Thank you!

FAQs for House Sitting - High Falls

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred High Falls walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in High Falls maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in High Falls choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
