I appreciated Chasydi taking the time to visit my dog several times while we were away. We have an anxious puppy, and Chasydi was careful not to push her too much, but to let her get familiar with her. We also appreciated Chasydi keeping the house neat during her stay and during her in-and-out visits. She shared photos and reassured us that Ember was okay.

Penelope is awesome! She took great care of my fur babies while I was on vacation. She followed my notes and ensured medication was given on time. I was able to truly relax knowing they were in her care.

Sam took very excellent care of my 5 cats and dog while I had an emergency and needed her last minute. She was very flexible and accommodating. I got tons of updates which made me feel very assured my fur babies were in excellent care while I was at the hospital with my baby. It was also a holiday and she was available. She was upfront about her kiddos coming, which was no problem. I was amazed there was no mess or anything. She cleaned up all dishes, took trash out and watered my plants. I had a week long stay at the hospital, I even asked if she would change my sheets and she did this for me. I was so blessed to find her and will always use her if she is available if I need a pet sitter. She even left a little goodie bag with a neat ink pen and some bracelets my daughter will not take off and loves! I’ve had pet sitters before that would just lock the dog out of my room and not interact with Sadie but Sam sent lots of videos/pictures of all my animals. We are home now and Sadie is so happy, it great condition and sleeping so soundly cause they gave her lots of exercise. 10/10 will book Sam again.

Joshua did amazing watching our two dogs. They are super energetic and playful and he was able to keep them worn out by the end of each day. He took very good care with their regimented feeding and sleeping schedule. Would definitely recommend.

Katelyn was phenomenal! She responded quickly and accepted our booking last minute after two other sitters canceled, was so accommodating to set up a meeting beforehand, gave prompt and detailed updates throughout our time away and went above and beyond to make sure our pup was comfortable. Couldn’t recommend her more and will absolutely book her again and again! She took the best care of our pup!

About: I love animals no matter the breed. I can care for both cats, dogs and ferrets. I do not have experience caring for other animals but if taught their routine I can definitely learn! My schedule is usually always open and as a pet parent,I will always provide the best care for your pet when you are away. I can do overnight animal sitting, if necessary as well as during the day. Because of my housing arrangements, I cannot offer boarding. As a pet owner, I totally understand the questions and concerns of leaving your pet in the care of someone else. I do have friends and family members who trust me to take care of their animals, while they are away on business trips and/or vacations. The rules that are set for your animal will be followed by me.

About: Built-In 24/7 Companionship: Because I work a full-time remote corporate job, I am not leaving your home for 8 to 10 hours a day. I work right alongside your pets, providing continuous companionship, structured routine, and excellent home security. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily and weekly routine because my full-time remote work setup is built around being at home. Instead of squeezing pet care into early mornings or late nights, your animals become a natural part of my regular day. The way I care for pets is tailored specifically to the environment that makes them feel most comfortable, ensuring a seamless transition whether I am staying at your house or visiting.

About: Currently offering discounted rates, book now before prices increase! I’m new to the whole pet sitting thing, as far as watching other people’s pets. I was fortunate enough to watch a neighbor’s dog this past summer and I loved it. I have 4 dogs of my own. They are a chihuahua, welsh corgi, French bulldog and lastly a sheltie. My dogs are my world and they make life more enjoyable, I truly couldn’t imagine coming home to an empty house without my dogs. I truly hope that I can make this a full time gig and treat your pets as if they were my own and give them the love and attention that they deserve. I’m currently out of a job right now, so I do have plenty of time. Of course I do have my own pets and personal life to attend to but if you work with me I’ll work with you. My main priority is to make sure me and you are on the same page and your pet has the utmost care and love. I mean personally in my home, our pets are our family. They chill and lay around in the house. We don’t personally keep any of them outside. We crate our sheltie when we leave because she is still pretty much a puppy but other than that our dogs just roam the house. I do have experience in taking care of dogs that happen to be outside. Whether it be a building, shed or whatever.

About: I grew up raising all different types of animals (birds, rabbits, dogs, lizards) and consider my pets my family. I have about 5 years of paid experience caring for pets and I have a cat of my own. :) I'm currently working from home and I have much free time during the day to make drop in visits or stay for a few hours/overnight as needed. You can ensure that your pets will be treated with the utmost care and looked after for as I would look after my own pets. :)

Dolly has been wonderful to work with. Very prepared and professional. Our dog has pretty bad separation anxiety since our older dog died, and we had no problem leaving him with Dolly there. He was comfortable with Dolly immediately! Will definitely call on her again.

Savannah did a great job caring for our 3 dogs and two cats. It is a hard task because of the dynamics of a 13 year old crotchety mutt and 6 month old and year old puppies who are high energy and love to get into trouble. Thank you, Savannah!! Highly recommended!

About: I am patient and caring. Animals have souls, they have feelings and they are a part of our families. I genuinely understand how important our fur babies are to us. I work full-time 8am-5pm Monday - Friday in Pinehurst. I am happy to take care of your pet before and after my shifts. I get an hour for lunch so if your pet is in Pinehurst I am able to offer a walk or drop-in at lunch time as well. I cannot currently host pets at my home due to caring for my own senior kitty who is very uncomfortable around dogs. I am happy to take care of your pet in their environment and familiar surroundings.

About: I grew up with dogs since I was 12, from a chihuahua mix to a labrador mix. I've had my current dog, a shi-tzu poodle mix, for 8 years now! I also have 2 cats as well. I have fostered kittens and have found furever homes with trusted friends and neighbors. I've cared for my neighbors' and friends' dogs when they vacation. They have entrusted me with their dogs and cats to walk, bathe, and feed them. I love animals and deeply care and respect every little critter that comes my way. Aftering graduating App State this past May, I stay in Boone and sometimes travel back home. I currently have time more time on my hands than usual. I welcome any pet and will treat them like my own. I live in an apartment and love going to the Greenway trail so I'll be sure to exercise your pet and am willing to care for them in the comfort of their own home.

FAQs for House Sitting - West Philadelphia

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 203 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Philadelphia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Philadelphia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Philadelphia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Philadelphia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Philadelphia. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
