“This is the second time Jenni has house sit for me to take care of my four pets. She’s the absolute best was in contact with on how the pets were doing the whole time I was gone even sending pics showing how well they were doing. I will definitely use her again.”

“Renee was awesome! Super prompt, easy to communicate with, and really detail-oriented. She took great care of both my home and pup, and everything looked exactly the same as when I left. I’ll definitely be booking her again”

“Sabrina was fantastic. She was thankfully available for a last minute house sitting with Franklin. He's a rescue so it can be tricky getting him used to folks. She had no problem getting him out for walks and hanging out with him. Truly appreciative!”

“Best experience, she above and beyond. recommended 100%. will have no problem going away again as long as Dalynn is available. she made our week away and fury friend stress free. great communication.”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets since I was young. Growing up with new foster puppies every week, I learned how to house-train young puppies and keep them out of trouble. I love spending time with pets and have really enjoyed pet sitting for friends and family! I just graduated from NC State University this May and am taking this summer off from work before beginning my PhD program this fall. This means I will have a of availability to spend time with your pets and provide them with the attention they deserve. I will be available for home visits at your desired frequency and duration so that your pets get the attention and play time they need.
“We loved Michaela! She took the stress out of leaving our cat for the week. It was our first experience with Rover and we will absolutely be asking her to come back and hang with Kitty when we go away! She was wonderful with updates and making sure our cat and home were always in perfect shape. She is so caring and made sure our cat took her pill morning and night. Thank you for treating Kitty just like your own!”
About: I’ve been taking care of friends and family’s pets for a couple years now. I took an animal science class in high school to better understand the care and handling of animals. I am equipped to play with, walk, feed, and bathe your pet. I’m currently a full time student, so the days that I am in class I cannot provide service to your animals, but all the other days of the week I am free to take care of them with the promise of my full attention. I have a fenced in yard, no other pets. I am able to walk your dog on a leash, or crate them if need be. I prefer to watch the pets at your home.
“Shanisa was absolutely amazing! She was able to accommodate a last-minute sitting request. We certainly didn’t make her job easy with big asks, but she was able to make us very happy pet parents! I highly recommend her.”

“Emma is a super fantastic, caring person and pet sitter. She worked with me through some crazy scheduling and a with sick pup. It was so comforting to have a well cared for pet (my fuzzy, 12 yr. old labradoodle) while I was away. Thank you Emma. You are 10 stars in my book.”

“This was my first time leaving my dogs with someone outside of my family for a trip. I and my pups (especially Papas) were nervous. However, Rachel was super understanding and patient! She consistently communicated throughout the entire process. Eventually my pups were feeling more comfortable which was super helpful as I had multiple flights canceled due to a snow storm. Thankfully, Rachel was gracious enough to extend her stay! I felt such an ease of mind knowing that my animals were safe and sound with her especially during a snow storm. Would definitely recommend and utilize again!”
“We loved having Rebecca watch our boys for the weekend! She took great care of them, and even our shy kitten warmed up to her quickly. We'll definitely be reaching out again next time we need a sitter!”

“Whitney is wonderful! Her excellent communication, punctuality and competence along with her friendly and kind personality provided me with complete peace of mind to leave my animals for a work conference. My dog and cats loved her; highly recommend!”

“Sarah did great! She was super friendly and easy to communicate with. Came in and stayed at our house for pet sitting with our dog and 3 cats. She took great care of our home and pets. She even made sure to keep us updated with daily pictures. Definitely recommend her for your pet sitting needs!”

“Shannon is the absolute GREATEST! She’s professional, communicative and took amazing care of our animals. She’s not our first Rover but I'm hoping she’ll be our last! I am so relieved we found her and will always be our go to for when we need our pets looked after. 11/10. Thank you Shannon!”

“I had to quickly find another sitter because our original plan canceled on us at the last minute. Taylor was so flexible and sent me picture updates of my babies. I felt safe knowing my fur babies were being taken care of by Taylor, I would recommend and hire again!”

“My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I was concerned with leaving her with anyone. But I had to leave for 2 nights and I was so happy that Layla was willing to still watch Cinna and made it work to make sure Cinna received her medicine when she needed it. She gave me frequent updates and sent me pictures. She is so helpful and always goes above and beyond to help with anything we need for Cinna. I can’t recommend her more!”

About: I have been dog walker/sitter for years. I have experience from family/friends to corporate events and weddings. We recently had our puppy pass over the rainbow bridge, so I have been inactive for a bit. We currently have a dachshund, a sweet cuddle bug and playful companion. Sometimes my partner will come with me to visit the dogs too (if it’s ok with you of course!) We have a 2 year old dachshund who is treated as part of the family/ our child. I will take care of any animal this way. Send me a message to chat :) When caring for your pets, I will use a leash for bathroom breaks unless otherwise stated, and I am also comfortable using a crate if needed.
About: I have been taking care of pets for friends and family since I was 12! I have had experience dropping in and staying over with dogs and cats of any kind in both DE and the Philadelphia area. I’m currently out of college and working part-time, so I am available during the week after 1 PM, and any time on the weekend/ Wednesdays. I have a lively cat and golden retriever, so I have experience in making sure all wants are met for your dear friends! Playing, feeding, walking and anything they need!

Jenna was amazing with both of my cats. She sent amazing updates and pictures throughout her stay. My cats are very shy and typically will not come out for strangers, however they felt super comfortable with Jenna and were letting her pet them by day 2! I plan on using Jenna again and highly recommend her.

Madi did a great job watching my baby Kai, as a nervous dog mama who doesn't leave her dog with many, I felt at ease with Madi taking care of him. She communicated with me as well as sent me pics of my pup throughout the time I was away. I would definitely recommend her and use her again on the future!

Gina was amazing!! From the initial meeting, our puppies took to her right away and I could tell it would be a great fit. She was very attentive with them and just a lovely person! She sent updates often with pictures and videos which my family loved. I’m pretty sure our pups were spoiled when we were gone and they probably will miss her! I will definitely use her services again in the future and recommend her to everyone!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Heritage
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 2,759 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Heritage. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Heritage walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Heritage maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Heritage choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Heritage. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
