Stephen was fantastic. He came to my rescue for my cat as the other sitter I had was not working out and I was already overseas. He came and spent more time than request with Reno.

Hillary was amazing! I would use her over and over again! She always made sure to send me updates and pictures of Bella and Arnold and they both look like they were having an absolute blast! It’s nice to feel at ease when you’re away that your babies are taken care of and Hillary definitely does that! I would not hesitate twice about booking with Hillary!❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾

Chloe is a fantastic sitter who helped without hesitation with our last minute pet sitting request. She proposed a meet and greet that very evening! This was very comforting as we have one anxious dog. He did so well with her. She is very responsible and went the extra mile by taking notes at the meet and greet, making sure no little detail was missed. While we were away, she sent us detailed updates on our dogs with wonderful pictures, which made being away from the pups a little easier. She went out of her way to take extra care of our dogs and we would absolutely recommend Chloe for your pet sitting needs. Our family Thanks Chloe!!

Gwen cared for my two kitties as if they were her own. She was able to notice a change in behavior of my 16 yo cat and alerted us in time to help her. She stayed with her until we were able to make arrangements to come home early. My cats really liked her too- which is highly unusual. Would 100% recommend Gwen and would entrust our pets care to her again.

About: I have cared for pets my entire life, as I have grown up surrounded by them. I have extensive knowledge about their care and also possess basic veterinary knowledge. In addition to giving them baths, I know how to trim their nails and, on some occasions, I can also groom their hair. I can adjust to the care schedule that best fits your needs. I believe it’s especially beneficial for your pet to go for a walk in the morning and in the evening, since those are times when they often have the most energy. I also find it very important to dedicate around 30 minutes exclusively to training, to help develop their learning skills and overall growth. Depending on the owner’s preferences, different activities and moments with the pet can be planned. For example, if it’s a pet that can only stay indoors, I would likely focus on indoor activities and spend plenty of quality time with them. On the other hand, if outdoor activities like walks or trips to the park are possible, I can easily adapt, as I love walking and believe it’s important to let pets safely explore their surroundings. That’s why I consider it very valuable to give pets the opportunity to go outside and enjoy the world.

About: I’ve been pet sitting since I was 11 years old. I’ve worked with a variety of dogs, cats, guinea pigs and bearded dragons. I'm currently in grad school so I work during the day. Weekends work best but I can also do weekdays; just ask! I'm happy to discuss scheduling with you. I do not care for pets in my home, but for my clients' homes, I make sure that the house is in perfect order when my client returns.

About: I have grown up around animals and throughout that time have gained skills that help with sitting and with that it allows me to be a better sitter. I have been around all ages of cats and dogs my whole life and have been sitting regularly since I was thirteen. I’m currently in school and not very busy with classes, so I’ll be readily available to fulfill any petting sitting needs that are needed. I will usually check in and/or walk in the morning or in the evening. My dog gets walked twice a day at minimum because he tends to want to get that much energy out. This usually happens at night and I would be able to walk any dogs at the same level which I do mine.

About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have experience with dogs, cats, and small animals, and spent four years working as a Veterinary Assistant in Wilmington and Chapel Hill. I treat every pet as if they were my own, offering patience, safety, and lots of love. My goal is to make sure your pet feels comfortable, cared for, and deeply loved while you’re away. I currently work from home running a small business. I do not work every day. I am flexible and available to help you out when needed. I have a Labrador Retriever and two senior, friendly domestic shorthair cats of my own. While you’re away, I care for your pets as if they were my own. I follow your instructions closely, keep routines consistent, and take time to understand each animal’s personality and needs. I like to keep a log for you on how they did and how things went for our time together. We have a nice sized home to accommodate your furry friend. Pets are allowed upstairs. We are happy to have your baby sleep on his or her bed in our room at night, or a crate if that’s what they are used to. Please supply your pet’s favorite bed or crate. Pets are allowed on the couch. We have a large, fenced back yard for those pups that like to sunbathe or sniff around during the day! I focus on calm, gentle care, plenty of affection (when welcomed), and making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m attentive to behavior, appetite, and overall well-being, and I communicate regularly so you have peace of mind. I have experience with senior dogs and cats, puppies and kittens and special needs pets through vet time experience and personal experience.

About: I have been around dogs and cats my whole life and have been trusted with family and friends pets . I have raised two puppies into well-behaved dogs. Daily walks, training, bathing, ball-throwing, all things. I had a momma cat birth four kittens in my garage, my mother and I took them in and managed to care for them for 12 weeks until we found safe and trusted homes for them. I currently have a part time job. My schedule varies week to week but am very flexible and open to any days/times you need me. I will care for your animals with pure love and patience while respecting your home. My care will include walks, feeding, changing water so it’s fresh, playing, and of course, pets and cuddles.

About: My family has had dogs for my entire life and I can’t imagine a day without a wagging tail. I’ve been so blessed to take care of pets in our community for the last 15 years. We have a sweet golden retriever and a one year old son that love to have friends to play with! We appreciate dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds. Let me know how active you would like your pet to be and I can provide an outlet for that energy. I can accommodate your schedule if you need doggy daycare, transportation, overnight boarding, or drop-in care. My husband and I both have hybrid schedules so at least one of us is home daily so our visitors never have to be left alone for long! We have a large fenced backyard and a dog park in our neighborhood. We do not accept more than 1-2 bookings at a time to ensure that everyone gets all of the attention that they need to have a great stay! We prefer your pet to be a member of the family instead of just one of a pack while they are in our care. We go on a family walk daily and are happy to reinforce any training that you are working on at home. Feel free to contact me with any questions and to ask me for my promo code to save you $20 off your first Rover Stay! I can't wait to meet you and your pet! One of us is always working from home so our friends will get a lunch time walk and potty breaks even on work days! Our dog walks a couple of miles in the evening so we can accommodate low energy or moderate energy friends with our typical schedule. We have a crate available if you use one at home but do not require any crating. We only accept one new client at a time and require meet and greets ahead of time to ensure we are the best fit! We only accept two bookings at a time to make sure everyone has enough attention. We have cameras set up downstairs so we can check on the pups even if we run out for an errand.

About: Growing up, I had 7 dogs in the house I cared for all at the same time for several years, ranging in size and age. Currently I own a Doberman, South African Mastiff(AKA Boerboel), a Pitt mix, and a Pomeranian! Although I haven’t owned a cat, I do care for my aunt’s kitten when needed! I am free from Saturdays at 5pm until Tuesdays at 6pm every week, this availability is due to the fact that I do have my daughter the other days, but I am also comfortable bringing her if your pet is child friendly feel free to message and I can come outside of this exact availability! I enjoy exercise, so any energetic animal will be fine with me, I am able to take long walks if that’s a preference of yours.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 2,497 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Haywood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Haywood. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
