“Samantha stayed with our dog for five days, our first experience with Rover. She was fantastic! She remained in touch throughout, sending lots of pictures and information, and quickly and warmly responded to any messages I sent. I knew right away when we met that our dog would be in great hands while we were away, and I felt completely comfortable with her, both as the caretaker of our dog and someone who was staying in our home. Wonderful experience!”

“We have two grown dogs and a puppy, so Annabelle definitely had her hands full, but she did great. She stayed at our house. The dogs totally fell in love with her. Can’t wait to use her again.”

About: I am a grad student (remote) and love hanging with pets. I can't have pets at my apartment but I really love dogs so this is my way of staying connected to animals. I started watching my neigbors dogs and cats as a favor a few years ago and then I got on the trusted house sitters app so I could travel and hang with pets. Now I am living and working on the north shore and would love to take your dog our during my after work walk or hang with them at your house! Would love to walk the dog or watch them for you for a few days! I am very reliable and have house sat for many friends and neighbors in the past few years. I cannot have pets at my house. But I love taking care of pets and your home! I feel confident in my cleanliness, attention to detail and love of animals and clean spaces to make sure your home is safe for the pets and clean once your return home.
“This was our first time using Rover and Jessica made all our hesitation and concerns disappear!! She was amazing! Highly recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter! We had to head to Kauai for a work visit and Jessica watched our pup. She communicated great with texts and pictures. And when we returned, the house was spotless! We’d give her 10 stars if we could!!”

“Arianna was amazing. She took care of our babies as if they were hers and went above and beyond for them when we were on vacation. Thank you, Arianna! You’ll be our to go girl now.”

About: My parents have been fostering pitbulls my entire life. I’ve always lived with at least 2 cats and 2 dogs in the house, and have extensive experience walking dogs, administering medicines, and house sitting! I currently work at UH Manoa in the greenhouse and biology lab, and take classes online so my schedule is very flexible! I love to go on walks morning and evenings, so taking care of pets fits perfectly into my routine. I work well with dogs of all sizes, including pitbulls and terriers. I can strap them into a harness, crate them, and walk 2 at a time.
“Yasmeen took really wonderful care of Momo! She made sure to keep me updated without me asking and was timely with her visits. The videos she sent showed how well she and Momo got along which made me very comfortable leaving him in her hands. I will definitely book Yasmeen again next time I need a cat sitter!”
“Kai loved Isabella! Communication great, she was able to adapt to my schedule, and I came home to a smiley happy dog! I think Kai suckered Isabella into getting more treats than she normally gets, but that is totally fine! (Kai loves treats) Would definitely recommend!”

About: I’ve cared for pets almost my entire life and have experience with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I’m comfortable with energetic puppies who need structure and consistency, as well as older dogs who require patience, gentleness, and a slower pace. I pay close attention to routines, feeding schedules, and any special needs to make sure every pet feels safe and cared for. Whether it’s walks, playtime, basic training, or simply keeping your pet company, I always treat animals like they’re my own. I’m reliable, calm, and very detail-oriented, which helps pets settle in quickly. I take the time to understand each animal’s temperament so they feel comfortable and supported. I’m experienced with puppy basics like crate training, leash manners, and reinforcing good habits. I’m also confident with senior dogs who may need slower walks, medication reminders, or extra monitoring. Communication is a big priority for me—I send plenty of updates, photos, and messages so you always know how your pet is doing. My goal is to make your pet feel at home and give you complete peace of mind. I’m currently working part time on the weekends and I’m free during the week. So I’ll have plenty of time to care for you’re pets! I make sure every pet feels safe and comfortable. My home has a big fenced yard with nice grass and plenty of space to run around. Inside, there’s lots of room to relax and play too. I keep a close eye on pets, follow their routines, and make sure they feel right at home the whole time.
“Alexis took wonderful care of our two boys while we were away for the holidays. We could tell they were very happy and well-loved while we were away. We would definitly recommend her any time. Thank you, Alexis!”

“First off I have never had anyone stay at my house to sit Mattis. I am very particular of my personal space more so allowing a stranger into my house while O was away for thousands of miles. I did not know that Leonard only provided sitting at one’s home here in Hawaii (in Texas he boards). However, after reading Leonard’s reviews, and realizing this, I decided to get outside my comfort zone and allow a stranger into my house, based on his past reviews. After having Leonard come by the house to meet Madison and to show him around to set expectations, I felt much much more ease. However, the doubt and concern were still there. Leonard not only met but he exceeded way above and beyond my expectations this experience. My entire house to include the common areas and the room for Leonard to sleep was completely intact. Walking into my house it felt like nobody had been there. Mattis was well cared for, did not smell, was in great spirits, and appeared to have been well taken care of. Leonard understood the little nuisances when taking Mattis out and the small details on how Mattis reacts to other dogs to include lizards LOL. I 100% recommend Leonard to anyone needing attention to detail and love looking after their pupper. Leonard is a good man, gentle, caring, and all around respectful when staying at your home. He will communicate as much or as little as you want. I left for a week and returned to my house exactly how I left it and maybe even better than as if I was here. Mahalo nui loa Leonard🤙🫶”

“Richard was great with Moosey! Fast communicator. Sent pics and videos. Super respectful and left my place clean. Moosey loved him. Definitely would recommend and would book again for my future trips.”

“Rebecca did an amazing job house sitting my fur baby for the 7 days and nights I was away and kept my home very clean. Rebecca even washed all the bedding and dishes she used, if any. My home was as clean as I left, if not cleaner. I’m very very pleased with her services and will recommend her to everyone!! Rebecca, you are da best!! Thank you so much!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Haleiwa
Nova was amazing!! She came over to meet with us and our dogs prior to us leaving and was so patient and understanding of all our concerns and requests. We have a senior dog and she needed some special attention and Nova was so accommodating. Our dogs barely noticed that we were gone because they were so loved on while we were away. Highly recommend booking with Nova.

We were so lucky to find Annabelle! She came to watch my dog and 2 cats in our home for a week. Due to unfortunate timing, this week also consisted of unprecedented rainstorms and flooding in our community. Despite this challenge, Annabelle cared for the furbabies with compassion and grace, and was extremely communicative with messages and photos throughout her stay. I came home to a clean house and happy pets. We would definitely love to have her visit us again. Mahalo Annabelle!

We’re so thankful for Sky, such a gem. She did amazing with our little ones and kept them safe and happy. Love that she always gave us a daily update with lots of pics which we really appreciate. House looked great and pets happy. Definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a trustworthy sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Haleiwa
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Haleiwa on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 983 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Haleiwa. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Haleiwa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Haleiwa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Haleiwa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
