“Stan and Barbara took such great care of our dog for the week. They shared daily updates and pictures which we really enjoyed. We will definitely contact them again when we need a dog sitter. Happy to have found them using Rover!”

“My dog loved his stay with Sarah. She took him into her home on short notice and was super accommodating. She made sure I received lots of updates and photos and I could tell that he was having a blast in all of them. I would recommend Sarah, her husband and their pups to anyone looking for an attentive sitter for their dog. :)”

“Kathleen looked after our little bud, Falcor while we were away for 11 days. She got along with him just fine (he loves to cuddle). What really stood out was Kathleen’s willingness to be flexible with our situation. On his drop-off date, we were heading to the cruise port to begin our trip. Instead of requiring me to drive to her home with Falcor, which would have used up about an hour of my time each way, Kathleen coordinated with a family member who lives close to us. So instead, I was able to drop Falcor there which made our day super smooth! Kathleen was very accommodating and she kept to our specific instructions about Falcor’s care.”

“Kamini, her family, and Pia are fantastic. Our dog stayed overnight and I received frequent updates (the right amount), lots of pictures, and great communication!! Even with this being the first time he stayed with them, I was comfortable and confident he was being treated as their own. He got along great with Pia, and we would definitely use Kamini again in the future. Highly recommend. 5 stars!”

“Jazmine (and her boyfriend Norman) took wonderful care of our 12-year-old black Lab, Judy, who is a cancer survivor and a bit particular—sweet, but needy and not a fan of other dogs. Jazmine cared for her in her home, made sure she had her morning medicine, and sent us daily updates with snuggle photos that made us feel completely at ease. Judy was clearly loved and beautifully looked after. Warm, professional, and trustworthy—highly recommend.”

“It’s been a while since our Whiskey Boy has been around other dogs since two ACL surgeries. He has an amazing time… Jason sent us pictures throughout and took great care of our boy! Will absolutely reach out next time!”

“Our Izzy is a bit of a problemed child. But after this overnight sleepover, it was clear that she felt very comfortable with Chris. He made the entire process very easy and we are very happy that we found a sitter that we can trust. A+++”

“First time leaving our boy Baxter with Trista. We were going away for a week and needed to know he was taken care of. Trista sent us a daily picture of Bax while he was outside in her large fenced in yard. Could have used a little more communication, but, for first time stay, we were pleased. Baxter, who doesn’t stay behind too often, was content when we picked him up and we could tell he enjoyed his stay. Would have Trista watch Bax again. Thank you”

“Leila was very nice, friendly and accomodating to our furbabies needs. Our babies didnt want to come home at all because of so much fun they are having with them. Everyday she sends pictures of updates. She was easy to communicate with and we didnt have any issues at all. We felt comfortable leaving our furbabies with her and family. We will book her again next time. Thank you Leila for taking care of our dogs. i highly recommend your service! :)”

“We were nervous about leaving our anxious, 2yr. old Bernadoodle, Rosie, with strangers, but Yanni's responsiveness and friendly nature put us at ease. Her home looked clean and well maintained. Throughout our weekend away, Yanni sent us updates with adorable photos, and we were able to enjoy our trip knowing she was in good hands. We appreciated that she was taken on several walks. While Rosie is not playful with other dogs and prefers humans, I'm glad that she had some time with Yanni's dogs. We would not hesitate to send Rosie there again, and we're grateful she has a place to go!”

“Isabella did a great job caring for Roxie. She sent a bunch of nice pictures and reported that Roxie got along very well with her dogs, which was great to hear. Isabella is cheerful, flexible and very responsive to my messages both before and during the stay”

“Shantel pulled through for us on a last minute boarding. Kai seemed to enjoy her best life at Shantell's based on the pictures we got back. Great communication, would choose her again if we needed to.”

“Katie provided wonderful care for our dog at her residence while we were away. She took the time to get to know myself and my dog prior to her stay. It was our lab's first time boarding and Katie sent updates regularly throughout the day which helped ease the transition. Katie's professionalism, passion and love for the animals was evident throughout the entire experience. Highly recommend!”

“Absolutely the best experience having boarded my precious Maysie was Lisa and her family. Not once was I worried and a lot of that was because of the constant communication and pictures sent to us while we were away. Absolutely will rebook with Lisa as I knew my pup was treated as part of the family!”

“We had a wonderful first experience with Turin! Tilly needs to be the only dog, so finding someone who could give her individual attention and make her feel comfortable was very important to us. Turin took the time to sit with us while Tilly explored her surroundings and adjusted at her own pace. She had such a calm, kind way with Tilly, and we felt very comfortable leaving her in her care. It was obvious that Tilly enjoyed spending time with Turin, and she came home happy after having a great time. It means so much to find someone you can trust with your dog, especially when they have individual needs. We are so happy we found Turin. We would absolutely recommend her!”

“Debbie was great; she was communicative and my pup always looked pleased like he was also on his own vacation. I appreciated her help very much and would recommend and rebook in the future.”

“Our dogs were very well while staying at Vivian and Katia’s house. They followed all the instructions related to food, walks, etc and we received plenty of pictures during the days we were gone. Katia was very kind and sweet with the dogs and they look happy and resting calmly all the time.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
