“Amber is FANTASTIC! She’s incredibly professional and takes such good care of my fur baby! During Chase’s overnight visit she kept me updated on his emotional well-being (sending a pic of him smiling), how little or much he ate, and his potty breaks! Amber is the only sitter I trust with my pup! I highly recommend Amber!”

“Kathryn and her family watched our Shiloh while we were away on a work trip. Shiloh is new to our family and a puppy so I was nervous about leaving her, but Kathryn and her family took such great care of Shiloh and updated throughout our trip. Literally all worries I had were relieved within minutes of leaving her there! I could not recommend Kathryn more!”

“Jeleesa and her sweet family took incredible care of my dog, Penny. She asked all the right questions, made sure Penny stuck to her walk and feeding schedule, and sent so many amazing photos and videos. Penny does not trust easily, but within 30 minutes of me dropping her off, she trusted Jeleesa enough to be pet on the stomach! We will definitely be coming back for all of our dog sitting needs.”

“Martisa's service was incredible and we're willing to use her services in the near future. Very compassionate with Sandy. Great walks and having the social connection towards my dog. Kudos to Martisa”

“Traci watched our big senior boy for a week previously so when we had another week long trip, we knew Leo would be in good hands with her! Traci is very thoughtful and made sure Leo was comfortable, despite him being anxious being away from his family. She provided lots of updates and photos and we felt happy knowing that Leo was in good hands. Thanks so much, Traci!”
“Tracey was AMAZING with my boy Jack. She sent pictures & updates daily, which I and my kids loved. She took him on multiple walks and a dog park daily. He came home and didn't move because he was so wore out. I really enjoyed her open communication. I will definitely be using Tracey in the future for Jack's boarding needs!”

“Absolutely thrilled with the exceptional care our 2 furry family members, Ziggy & Bella received from Addy and the entire family. From the moment we met, it was clear Ziggy & Bella were in loving and capable hands. Addy went above and beyond, ensuring they were not just fed and walked, but truly cherished. Daily updates and photos provided peace of mind while we were away. We returned to happy, healthy fur babies. We cannot recommend Addy highly enough and will undoubtedly be booking again!”

“Another great stay with Heather! Our doodle loves her so much and enjoys staying with her and his BFF China every time. It’s like a great vacation for him and he always comes home energized and happy.”

“Meredith is an angel with our sweet pup! She kept him for the duration of our cruise, and updated us with several pictures and a video. She was able to cater to our specific feeding needs, as well as administering medication. We are so lucky to have a puppysitter that treats him with such love and care.”

“Lorena and her family were so wonderful when we had an unexpected trip come up and needed boarding for our pup over a long weekend. We appreciated the offer of a Meet ‘n Greet as well as the daily photos she sent. Harper loved running in their fenced-in backyard and seemed like she didn’t even want to leave when we picked her up, hah! We will definitely rebook Lorena for our future petsitting needs.”

“Stephanie was a lifesaver, accommodating us at short notice. She even drove for a meet and greet to learn about our dog. She kept our dog happy with daily dog park visits and us with pictures and messages. She is amazing!”

About: I grew up in a house full of animals (dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, fish) and loved it. Less than a year after moving out to attend college I got my own puppy (Havanese). 12 years later I found myself getting a second dog after my parents and a sibling adopted her other 2 sisters (English Cream Golden Retriever puppies). We dogsit for them, and of course they come to family get-togethers, so we're used to having extra dogs in our house! In 2025 we said goodbye to our first dog, and a few months later welcomed home our foster-to-adopt puppy (chihuahua-beagle mix). The kids love playing and cuddling with dogs and understand when they need space. My full-time job offers flexibility in my schedule allowing me to work from home 3x/week. I work early hours so that I can have more time available in the afternoons & evenings to spend with family/pets. Having my own home, family, and pets I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy and respectful to take care of your home and precious pets.

“Crockett was very comfortable staying with Jim. He took very good care of Crockett with daily walks and giving him individual attention. We knew Crockett was in good hands, as Jim sent us pictures and updates often. We recommend Jim highly and will use him again.”

About: I have always been an animal lover! I spent a better chunk of my high school and college years watching horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, fish, birds, ferrets, chickens, and basically any other critter you can think of. I will absolutely love your animals as my own. I am available on short notice and can do daytime dog sitting. I am able to administer shots, IM injections, oral medications, or whatever special needs your pet may have. I work from home on my 6.52 acre farmette. I have a fenced in yard, a dog door, and a sweet old lady dog who is happy to show the dogs the ropes! I have 5 fenced in acres for dogs to run around and play. I love to spend time outside playing with all the animals I can get my hands on. I’m equipped for horses, donkeys, goats, ferrets, dogs, birds, and reptiles!
“Megan was great as always! We know that when we drop Charlie off, he’s not just staying with a sitter, he’s staying with a caring family. We always get updates when we are thinking of him and we know that he is safe and enjoying himself. Charlie loves it there and we think that sometimes he’d rather stay than come home!”

“Camryn and her husband cared for my two cats while my husband is on vacation. They sent us updates and were flexible with drop off and pick up. They were accompanying to my cats needs and they were happy and healthy upon pick up. Definitely will be requesting their services again!”

“Kristina was amazing! She was so responsive and accommodating, even taking our pups in last minute. From the start, she was warm and welcoming, and we could tell our dogs were loved and well cared for while we were away. We’ll definitely be booking with Kristina again!”

Jeleesa was welcoming, accommodating and wonderful. She was diligent in asking all about Daisy’s routine, likes, dislikes and whatever she needed to make sure she had a great stay. Sent regular updates and was always helpful. Would definitely utilize her services again.

Stephanie's care and flexibility for our Jack Russell Terrier, Sally, was so thoughtful and appreciated. After our meet-and-greet in July, Sally got an injury requiring medication and reduced running/jumping around--no small feats for a Jack Russell. Stephanie took it in stride and figured out how to adjust to what Sally wanted/needed and was good for us all. We thank her and the blessing she was for us.

Kelly made her house feel like home for our dog Bingo! She sent so many photos and updates throughout his stay, which we really appreciated. I could definitely tell Bingo got lots of love and attention while at Kelly's home, not just from her but her family too. That's exactly what we were looking for while we were out of town. Thank you Kelly!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Glendie home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Glendie.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Glendie sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
