“Elvis came back from visiting his best friend, Bear, exhausted from playing and a happy boy. I am so happy we were able to find someone that takes large breed dogs and gives him the space he needs to run around.”
“We were so blessed to find Sue with such late notice. Our little bear means so much to us but the Airbnb we were staying at didn’t allow pets. Sue took him in without hesitation and opened up her home with so much love and kindness for our senior pup. He felt right at home doing all of his normal habits as if he were staying with family. We loved that she sent us videos and pics through out his stay to ensure he was taken care of. I highly recommend Sue and if you are looking for the best sitter to look after your fur baby. She is clearly an animal lover and will only provide the best service! If we are ever in the area and need help looking after our little bear we know who to call. Thank you for everything Sue we are so grateful for you!”
“Kathleen took excellent care of my chihuahua, Cody. Over the course of a month, I boarded him with her a few times each week, and I always felt confident he was in great hands. She was responsive, kind, and incredibly patient, not just with my (very energetic!) chihuahua 🙃, but with me as well. I’m so grateful for the care she provided and would highly recommend Kathleen to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”
“Mikayla offered me peace of mind while on vacation knowing my senior girl was in good hands! Daily pics, great communication, and when I picked up my dog it was very clear she was comfortable and at ease with Mikayla. 10/10 recommend and will be using her in the future! Thank you!”
About: I take my responsibility watching your pets very seriously and treat each one like my own! Over the years I’ve cared for pets with all different personalities, routines and needs, and I always make sure all animals receive the same love and attention. Message me and I would be happy to meet with you and your pets beforehand so you can both get to know me! I work at a job in the medical field Monday - Thursday and I am typically home on the weekends doing yard work or just hanging out! I have a fully fenced in yard with lots of room for your pet to run around, I also own a crate if necessary! I am also comfortable coming to your house overnight or just for a mid day check in!
“Maegan was flexible with our appointment. We had an important meeting on Monday and she canceled Monday. Abby had a good time. She came home and was calmer than she has ever been.”
“Anna was fantastic! She sent me pictures and videos every day of my dog and kept me updated on his eating and playing. I could tell she genuinely enjoyed playing with my dog. I will definitely use her again.”
“Leaving our Layla with Peg was so comforting. We knew when we met her that she was the right choice to watch her while we were away. Layla got lots of love and lots of exercise. Not to mention much needed play time with other dogs. Peg kept us updated on how she was doing and sent lots of photos and videos. We highly recommend Peg!”
“Anthony and Jane were fantastic. Great communicators, really nice setup on their property with tons of space and a fenced yard. My dog got along well with theirs. Will definitely book again.”
“Took great care of my pup! Was willing to accommodate his special needs. Received lots of updates and pictures. My pup had a great time and was well loved. Will be booking again in the future.”
“Mary is the perfect Rover for us. We left Corby, our yorkie-mix with Mary and never worried once. We knew she missed her two little dogs and would spoil Corby. He had a great time in her fenced in yard and made himself right at home on the sofa and checking out the activity outside. A quiet country setting Corby will be visiting every time we go away. She sent us picture updates and notes.”
“Chelsea and Chris were amazing!! Munson came home well rested and loved. I am so grateful to them and so happy I found them. The constant pictures and communication was awesome. I take comfort in knowing there is someone I can leave him with - who will love and care for him as if he were their own.”
“Samantha took my dog for the weekend when I went out of town. She kept me updated throughout his stay and took some great photos of my not so photogenic dog. I would recommend her!!”
“Vera was wonderful with our dog! She has an amazing setup with a great backyard and lots of places to walk. She played with our dog so many times and gave her so much love and attention. So grateful to have found her!”
“Christopher was incredible! Very communicative and sensitive to the needs of my dog. He is very knowledgeable on dog behaviors too! It’s was such a relief knowing my pup was in good hands :) thank you!!!”
“We were blessed to have Addy watch our dog Sage while we were gone. She took wonderful care of Sage and communicated often which brought great comfort to us. I highly recommended her to anyone looking for help with a pet. She is such a genuine and kind person too. Thankful for this experience!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Glen home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Glen.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Glen sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
