“Rocky clearly enjoyed his stay with his new friends, although happy to see me he clearly was upset leaving Bear, whined half way home and slept like a rock ! Thanks again to Mike and we will look forward to our next stay :)”

“I’m very satisfied with Kathleen's service. She cared for my puppy excellently. This was my first experience, and I am glad my Simba found a caring home while I’m away. I travel for work and feel confident I can rely on her in the future. Thank you! Roya Ross”

About: I take my responsibility watching your pets very seriously and treat each one like my own! Over the years I’ve cared for pets with all different personalities, routines and needs, and I always make sure all animals receive the same love and attention. Message me and I would be happy to meet with you and your pets beforehand so you can both get to know me! I work at a job in the medical field Monday - Thursday and I am typically home on the weekends doing yard work or just hanging out! I have a fully fenced in yard with lots of room for your pet to run around, I also own a crate if necessary! I am also comfortable coming to your house overnight or just for a mid day check in!
“I'm thrilled that I found Maegan to care for my dog Finnigan when I go away. Finnigan's first overnight with Maegan was a complete success and I didn't have to worry about a thing! Finn loved her and he loved being with other dogs. I most definitely recommend Maegan as a caregiver for your fur baby!”

“Samantha and her partner were absolutely amazing. They are the best sitters I have met by far. I 10000/10 recommend. Samantha updated me throughout my dog's stay. I will definitely rebook.”

“This is the first time I left my 2 year old fur baby with anyone over night. Peg helped me to be comfortable with leaving her 2 full days and 2 nights. I survived! 😄 and so did my little Hattie. I will be very comfortable with leaving Hattie with Peg again.”

“Kara is great! I needed daycare for my 7 year old 175lb English mastiff while I was on vacation. Knowing my dog was in safe hands really allowed me to enjoy my experience (collecting fossils and Herkimer diamonds). She was very flexible with drop off and pick up times so I didn’t have to worry about getting up early or rushing back. Relly hates stairs but she was so excited to go there she zipped right up them. Relly was able to get a spa treatment; she got bathed and brushed. I wish Kara lived closer; I would send Relly for grooming services all the time (she is the smelliest and most excessively shedding dog of all time- science should study her). Kara would fill Relly’s bone with peanut butter and freeze it for Relly to have the next day. She went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. I could go on and on with things that made my experience truly special but, I think you get the point. Don’t hesitate just book it- it was the best part of my trip.”

About: I just lost my 13.5 year old shepherd, I have been skilled in taking care of him and his old age and needs, I spent his whole life training him in German and English. I spend all day with dogs and know dog behavior very well, I have worked in boarding facility’s giving meds and food and walking dogs and learning their specific personalities. I groom dogs during the week when I’m done working I am free and certain days i have free time to care for others loved babies Care for your pets in your home where they are safe and happy, teach me how you and they like to be loved and cared for and I will always follow every direction given.
“Mary was amazing to work with! She is very accommodating, even on short notice. Our dog had a comfortable stay in her home and seemed very happy in her care! Highly recommend using Mary’s services!”

“Teddy stayed with Pamela while we were on vacation, she sent us photos and updates about teddies stay. We were very pleased and thank ful for the way Pamela took care of teddy. This is the first time for teddy to stay with anyone except a family member. When we picked teddy up, he was very happy and content. Thank you Pamela, I hope we will be able to have teddy stay with you next time we go on vacation..”

“Ginger was wonderful. She took our 5 month old puppy for 3 nights. She provided plenty of updates and pictures. We felt very comfortable leaving our puppy with her. I’m thankful we found her through this app.”

“Staying with Lorraine was an absolute blessing for my Penny! Lorraine loves dogs and it shows! Penny got lots of love and attention, and I’ve been getting daily updates, pictures, and videos from Lorraine. Cannot recommend her enough!”

About: Had 3 jack russell terriers growing up, now I have a black lab/terrier puppy. I have a lot of experience with dogs. I have plenty of dog toys to play with and a nice grass yard out back. I work full time but come home for an hour in the middle of the day for lunch. I am free weekends and take my pup on walks on the nearby canal frequently I have a fenced yard out back of my house and a very dog friendly living space. My dog gets along great with others and loves to play.
“Vanessa went above and beyond caring for my dog. He was well cared for including feeding, socialization, and exercise. He got to experience new surroundings and settings that included an exercise arena that he thoroughly enjoyed. I appreciate the time and attention given to him and would highly recommend anyone to trust their dog with Vanessa and her family. Thank You!”

“"Lauren looked after Ziggy and Marley during our recent trip and everything went smoothly. Communication was easy, and the photos gave us peace of mind. We will definitely look to book with her again!"”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Auriesville home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Auriesville.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Auriesville sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
