“Cheryl was amazing! I was so lucky to find her, I felt so comfortable leaving my baby with Cheryl. I got many pictures, videos, and updates while I was away, which was so nice… I could tell my baby was in great care :) will definitely be using Cheryl again and would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Kathleen is amazing! I was nervous as I’d never left my kitten for longer than a day before, but she treated Gnocchi like her own. She updated me with pictures and videos and gave her so many snuggles. My cat definitely had the time of her life and I will be booking with Kathleen again!”

“Sara and her home were the perfect fit for our anxious dog, Mazie. Sara is very knowledgeable about dogs, their behaviors, and how to handle them. She successfully gave Mazie medication 3 times a day and prepared special meals for her. We received photos via text while we were away showing how happy and acclimated Mazie was there. We have already booked another stay with Sara. Thank you Sara!!!”

“Cannot recommend Barbara enough for both overnight and doggy day care services!! great outdoor space at her home and located right near a phenomenal park where the dogs get to go on extra long walk with her. our dog always comes back happy, and tired from all the playing with her dog, Lou. Lincoln runs straight to her door when we got there for drop off and Barbara is super responsive + sends great pictures / videos the whole time we are away.”

“Molly did a great job watching my dog Scooby. She kept Scooby active with hikes and visits to the dog park, she regularly sent photos, and when I picked Scooby up he was in a good mood. I’m also very appreciative she accepted Scooby for a long multiple-week stay on short notice, after our original sitter fell through. Thanks Molly!”

“Yasmeen is very pleasant and I could tell Jack had a good stay with her. We were nervous leaving him at an apartment as he’s used to a backyard, and we were going out of the country. Yasmeen took him out throughout the day and followed his special diet with no issues. Plus I think Jack enjoyed having her dog as a buddy to play with. Thank you Yasmeen!”

“I am so happy I found Ken and Irene! It was the first time my dog (Louie) was being watched by strangers outside of his home. I was a little concerned because Louie has been known to eat small objects, but it all worked out and he was fine! Irene updated me throughout the weekend and sent me pictures. I could tell initially that this family loved dogs. Louie got along great with their two labs and seemed to adjust well. I highly recommend Ken and Irene!”

“Oscar was well taken care of with Ann! His tail was wagging when we dropped him off and picked him up. He loved running in the backyard and Ann sent us pictures with him relaxing in her home. We so appreciate his stay with Ann! Highly recommend!”

“Freddy had another wonderful stay with our most trusted sitter. He was excited to arrive at Arianne's house and seemed to settle in immediately with the family. Arianne kept me up to date with photos and videos throughout the stay. I cannot overstate how much gratitude we have for Arianne and her family providing Freddy with a loving home while we were traveling.”

“Cathy is a wonderful dog sitter! She allowed mocha to explore her house and meet her two dogs before we confirmed our stay. Cathy kept us updated while we were away by sending us daily pictures of Mocha. Mocha looked like she was having fun with the other dogs. She also looked comfortable by resting on the couch or napping on her bed. Cathy listened to all our requests. She definitely made sure Mocha was loved and cared for while Mocha was away from home. We would definitely let Cathy dog sit Mocha again!”

“Celeste did an amazing job taking care of my greyhound. Jolteon is terrified of cars and Celeste went way out of the way to make sure my pup was comfortable and safe. She gave him his medication without any difficulty at all. Her price is great for the care that she provides. I highly recommend booking Celeste to take care of your animals. I will be using her services be again very soon.”

“I cannot recommend Ariana highly enough! I left my Goldendoodle in her care for two weeks, and the peace of mind was incredible. From day one, Ariana’s communication was detailed, positive, and incredibly reassuring. She sent daily photos and written updates that kept me smiling and informed throughout my trip. What truly set Ariana apart was her patience and attentiveness to my dog's personality. She can be quite skittish about new things, but Ariana gently encouraged her to try new experiences without ever pushing her comfort zone too far. I even had the joy of seeing my dog confidently walk across a bridge she used to be afraid of — a huge milestone thanks to Ariana’s supportive handling! She also made sure my dog stayed mentally stimulated with visits to new parks and local dog-friendly spots. When I came back to pick my dog up, she was thrilled to see me but clearly missed Ariana, wanting to stay just as much. You could tell my dog felt safe, loved, and well-cared for. If you are looking for a sitter who pays close attention to detail and truly cares about your dog’s emotional well-being, Ariana is the one.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
