“Gunner was wonderful with our Newfoundland- Abby, and our cat-Wendy. He stayed in our home for 9 days, it was neat and tidy when we got back. He walked Abby daily and he kept us up to date with daily messages and pictures. Would highly recommend.”

“Wendy was wonderful taking care of my dog while I was away. She made sure my dog had her medication on time, they played and went for long walks and Wendy kept me updated with pictures and comments. I especially appreciate how Wendy helped with my last minute booking. I will definitely reach out to Wendy in the future.”

“Kayla was amazing. Our dogs always get supper stressed when we have to board them so we tried having a house sitter. We had lots of good contact with Kayla with how the dogs were adjusting to her and the dogs seemed to like her. Kayla left the house clean.”

“I cannot recommend Nikki and Britney highly enough! We traveled for the first time in years and needed someone who can manage caring for two dogs that require a little extra care. We were so nervous to leave them but were quickly put at ease. They communicated regularly and sent tons of pictures for us! They respond quickly to messages and took extra good care of our house. If I could rate Nikki and Brittney higher I would! I will absolutely book with them again. Thank you for taking such good care of Lilly, Coco, and Big Bear while we were gone!”

About: I am a veterinary assistant and have worked and surrounded myself with animals my whole life. I’ve volunteered at animal shelters, worked with vets, and was a dog handler and a doggie daycare over the past few summer years. I have experience with cat, dogs, fish, rodents, reptiles, and more. I love hiking and spending time outside as well, so hikes with dogs are more than welcome! I recently moved to Boise and am excited to get to know the area, so taking your dog on walks is the perfect excuse for me to explore ;) I work Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm so i before and after my shift I can take care of your furry, scaly or slimy friends! I also don’t work weekends at all so my availability is wide open! When working with animals in their own homes, I think it’s important to understand you’re coming into their space and to work slowly to earn their trust! I have worked with many different animals and know how to read body language, so if your pet is uncomfortable I know how to work with them and listen to their needs.
“Candy is lovely, great with our older dogs and young cat, and she followed our overly indulgent care instructions for our spoiled girls to a tee. Our apartment was immaculate when we returned, which isn’t easy with 2 dogs and a cat. We have already asked her for another booking, so we’d obviously recommend her.”

About: I’ve taken care of my own dog for years. As well as house sat for a friend who owns a farm, caring for her numerous animals. Hi! I currently work at 9 AM to 5 PM job and can make it home around 12 PM to 1 PM for a lunch break to take the dog to the bathroom and/or a walk. This would make it so the dog will go 4 hours between potty breaks. I have full availability on the weekends. I have a beautiful fenced in backyard with plenty of space for a dog to run around safely. We board dogs often and have puppy proofed it for safety.

“Susie is a dream. Not only does our dog love her and her dogs, she goes above and beyond if you’re having a crisis across the country!! I can’t recommend her enough.”

“Alyssa did a wonderful job with our three boys. She kept us updated and went above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly for our return home. We will definitely use Alyssa again in the future!”

“Erin was awesome!! She was quick with responding, provided pictures and updates of Max while we were gone and had a great fenced yard that Max loved 😃. Will definitely use her again!!”

“Deana was absolutely amazing! Words are not enough to express how wonderful she was with our dogs and our home. We felt so at ease knowing she was taking good care of our pups. Her communication was excellent from beginning to end. I hope we get the chance to book her many more times!”

About: My first best friend was an Akita and his name was Marshall Coyote. My parents say, he decided I was his human and we were inseparable. I’ve always had a sweet spot for dogs and all animals. I've grown up with dogs and other animals my whole life and I miss that connection. So I have a lot of experience taking care of animals. One of our family pups just passed away and I know I can put this grief into something positive by spending time around with other pets. I want of pup of my own and I really want one. But I’m not at a place in life to have that responsibility. Because it is a huge responsibility and I believe they deserve the best life possible and be taken care of right. So I’m waiting until I’m more stable with career and have time for it. One day I’ll have created a life that will allow for me to have a fur baby of my own. So I have a lot of extra energy and give your pet love and attention. Help me help you! I’m currently working part time delivering so I drive around for drop in, walks and feeding. I live in a spacious apt. That I’m also happy to have your pet come to me. And can do overnighters. My spacious apartment in Capitol Hill can provide for room to roam. Can be able to crate pup if needed. I have a balcony so fur babe can hang outside and get some fresh air often if needed. No yard but lovely area for walks and parks nearby.
About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life! I grew up with dogs and cats and have loved being around them for as long as I can remember. These days, I’m a proud dog mom to two bulldogs and a Bengal cat, so I’m very familiar with the different personalities, quirks, and routines that come with having pets. ❤️🐾 I truly believe pets are family, and when they’re in my care, I treat them like they’re my own. Whether your pup wants to play, go for a walk, get some extra belly rubs, or simply curl up next to someone, I’m happy to give them the attention and love they deserve. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs. I know how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets with someone you trust, and my goal is to make sure both you and your pets feel happy, safe, and cared for while you’re away. 🐶🐱💕 I am currently a stay at home mom while helping My husband with his business. I have a lot of availability and flexibility to make myself available for pretty much any times needed. I care for every pet as if they were my own! I like to follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of love and attention. I know that pets are most comfortable when their routine stays familiar, so I make sure to follow their owner’s instructions and pay attention to their individual personality and needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat their home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. I keep things clean and tidy, make sure pets are safe and comfortable, and provide regular updates and photos so their owners know how they’re doing. My goal is for every pet to feel happy, loved, and comfortable while their family is away! 🐾❤️
“Kristi is amazing! So happy to have found her to stay with our 2 small dogs, 1 of them with extreme anxiety. Kristi came over several times before we left for the day to help our anxious dog have some familiarity. We appreciated it very much!”

About: I've loved animals for as long as I can remember. I've always owned dogs, including German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Border Collies, and other high energy working breeds. I also grew up caring for horses, goats, dogs, cats, and just about every other animal you can think of. Along the way, I attended basic obedience classes with my own dogs where we learned clicker training and positive reinforcement techniques. Today, I have a German Shepherd and a cat of my own, and I know just how much our pets mean to us. Friends and neighbors have trusted me to care for their pets over the years, and it has always been something I genuinely enjoy. I'm on Rover because spending time with animals simply makes me happy. I know how hard it can be to leave your pet with someone else, and I don't take that trust lightly. When your pet is with me, I'll care for them the same way I care for my own, with patience, lots of love, and attention to their individual needs. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for. I own my own business, which gives me the flexibility to create my own schedule. Because of that, I'm rarely away for more than a few hours at a time, allowing me to provide attentive care and plenty of companionship for your pet. I'll always do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs and make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you're away. I am always the person worrying about my own pets and their unique needs when I'm away from the house. This means I will always follow your instructions and care for your pet in extreme detail. Making sure they're secured, have eaten, have plenty of water, ample exercise, any medications needed, and plenty of love and affection. I pay attention to the little things, and will always do everything in my power to ensure their comfortability.
“Our dog seemed to love her. It is hard to review because the poor woman became sick right after coming to sit. Given the fact that she was sick the entire time, she was a trooper. We will have her back again.”

“Very pleased with Cailin's week spent with our 2 goldendoodles at our home. She tended to our many outdoor plants. The house was clean and welcoming when we walked in the door. Thank you, Cailin!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 797 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gardena. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gardena walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gardena maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gardena choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gardena. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
