About: I love caring for animals, but travel enough to where I know I can’t have my own anymore. I watch my grand-dogs and I just have a blast with it. I’ve had dogs and cats all my life until now and have some love to give to your cute pet! I’ve had dogs ranging in sizes from a dachshund to a pure bred mastiff. I am almost always at home, so I can provide constant care and play time during the day. I am proficient is giving medications as well. (Even to the stubborn ones!) I take plenty of pictures and share lots of updates, so you won’t need to worry while you’re away. I look forward to giving your pet all of the love and special attention that it deserves! I spend the majority of my time at home so I have plenty of time to spoil your pet. When I do need to leave it’s not more than an hour or two. I can easily adjust my schedule to meet the needs of your pet. I live in an apartment and there is a walking trail right outside my door.
“Bree went above and beyond when we had an emergency on our vacation far from home. Recommend her heartily (make sure to leave a nice tip if she has to climb through your window).”

“Highly recommend! Upon reading the report card from Tonie, a comment was made from another dog owner, "Wow, you got a good rover." I was so nervous leaving my dogs, especially my ailing senior. When my normal dogsitter cancelled last minute, I was very hesitant having a stranger watch my dogs. Tonie did a great job. I actually prefer her over my other sitters.”

About: I’ve taken care of family, friend’s, and neighbor’s dogs of all shapes and sizes! I absolutely love animals, and I’m willing to do whatever your furry friend needs. We have always had pets in our house, including one that needed long term care. If administering medication is what your pet needs, I’m more than familiar with it! I especially love big dogs, but like I said before…I love ALL animals, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I’m available during the weekdays and most weekends, and I do want to add that I will be starting school at Butler in late August, so I will be relocating. I am able to do whatever your dog needs as long as it’s at your own home. We have two cats, and it wouldn’t be smart for me to bring them here. However, walking, feeding, light grooming, and cuddling are all services that I offer!
“My kitties are usually the kind that hide with strangers. They came out every time Mariah dropped in to check on them , and she sent pictures!!!! I would definitely use her again . Thanks again !!!!”

“Jennifer was amazing for our two dogs! Lots of pictures and play and they seemed to love her a lot. Very trustworthy and professional! Couldn’t recommend enough.”

“Tracy is awesome. He was so kind to my puppy, prompt, attentive, and just gave excellent customer service overall. I don’t really want to tell everyone how great he is because I hope he always has availablility for my Banner, but I think it’s important to let folks know he will take excellent care of your fur babies.”

“Melinda was good with the drop-in visits! Super kind and made sure my pet was well taken care of. I really appreciated the updates and pictures after each visit—it gave me peace of mind while I was away. My pet seemed comfortable and happy when I got home. I’d book with Melinda again and feel good knowing my pet is in good hands.”

About: I've been helping out families I know with dog and cat sitting since 2020 and am ready to do it in a more formal way. ——- Here's the story: my behaviorally-complex bestie turned me into a dog trainer, and now my day job is helping other families like mine. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and Fear Free Certified Professional (FFCP). ——- I like to take things slow when I meet a new pet, unless they're not into that kind of thing and would rather go straight to sharing our personal space. I can take a hint...because I've spent time learning body language! ——— I believe in meeting an individual's needs based on their responses to activities. We can find all kinds of projects to fulfill your pet's physical, mental, and emotional needs. Enrichment is the key! ——- I also have lots of experience caring for reptiles and amphibians, and I share my home with two snakes. 🐍 I work full-time from home, and have a flexible work schedule. This makes it easier to fit caring for folks' pets in the comfort of their own home into my schedule. As a Fear Free Certified Professional, the comfort of the pet in front of me is my #1 concern. I love engaging pets with mentally stimulating activities that allow the expression of their natural behaviors. Since I build enrichment plans for pets for a living, I tend to find creative ways to incorporate what is available to help pets use their bodies and brains to have a good time.

“Hannah is the absolute best! She communicates well and goes above and beyond to take great care of my dog every time. I can tell she truly loves Bella! We are always so grateful to have Hannah watch her!”

About: What sets me apart is that I’ve grown up surrounded by animals my whole life—dogs, cats, fish, and even the occasional bunny. Because of this, I’m comfortable with all kinds of personalities and needs. I have experience walking energetic dogs, caring for playful puppies, and making sure senior pets feel safe and comfortable. My background helps me tune in to each pet’s unique routine and give them the same love and attention they’d get from you. I currently work full-time, but I have some flexibility during the week with enough notice. I hope to be working from home full-time soon, which will allow me to be home more often and more readily available to help care for your fur babies during special events, last-minute trips, or whenever you need an extra hand! As of right now, I have a domestic long-haired cat and a puppy who is a Mastiff-Pit mix. I’ve had my cat, Garrett, since he was born and my puppy, Storm, since April of this year. They are getting along much better now, although Garrett will occasionally swat at Storm when he gets a little too playful—there have never been any fights between them. Storm is very sweet, social, and full of energy, and he loves playing with other dogs. I also have extra rooms available to give visiting dogs their own space when they need a break, some quiet time, or simply a little room to themselves.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Wayne
She has been very patient with my dogs who are simply not used to being with someone other than me. The patience is appreciated as I know the relationship will grow and the trust will also build. The situation my dogs are in has been stressful and having her come in and spend time with them is helpful to them and myself. I’m very grateful to have found such a patient animal focused person for my dogs.

Bree was absolutely amazing with my cats. She took the time to befriend them, even my super shy cat, who she got to come out on day one, which never happens. She made sure my troublemaker hadn't gotten into and left the place spotless after. She made things not only so much less stressful for myself, but I know it helped my shy girl as well! She made sure I got detailed updates and tons of pictures of them playing with her every visit. Bree will be my go to from now on for pet sitting, couldn't recommend a better sitter!

Katie has been absolutely amazing with Lyla! She is very considerate with my instructions, and cares deeply for my fur baby. I have always felt comfortable knowing that Katie will take great care of Lyla when I’m busy at work. She has incredible communication skills and goes above and beyond. I would recommend her to anyone! Leaving your pet in the care of another can be scary, but Katie puts me at ease knowing Lyla is being loved like her own.

100% recommend Jennifer. We have a very nervous 50 pound Bernie doodle that likes to bark ferociously at strangers, but Jennifer was able to calm her down even though she was the first person to ever enter our house when we weren’t home and let the dogs out! She made sure they had sufficient time outside and even walk the yard with them. She brought them to their water and food bowls, and encouraged them to eat and drink. Then sat with them on the floor and gave them both individual attention. We are honestly overjoyed with the care that she provided and we will use her again, so should you!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
