Aliya is great with my pup! He’s always excited to see her and when I get home he is happy and calm. She takes him out for walks and runs him. He is always fed appropriately. She is very tidy in the house and respectful of my space. I trust her being alone in my home overnight and I am so grateful she is able to help me take care of my sweet pup.

Arabella & Dylan were very attentive to Makkachin. :) They tag teamed her care like pros, Arabella tapping in before Dylan left, and in total were with her for 5.5 hours, never leaving once! They were punctual, attentive to directions, which they followed to the letter, and gave her tons of attention and exercise, full of play, walks, and snuggles. They also fed her and kept her safe. She was happy and worn out in the best way. I would definitely use them again!

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember! I’ve grown up with — and cared for — pets of all shapes and sizes, from dogs and cats to fish, birds, horses, rodents, and even reptiles. No matter who your furry (or scaly!) family member is, I’m excited to give them the same love and attention I give my own. Pet care is already a natural part of my day. I take care of my cat every morning and evening—making sure she has fresh water, the right amount of food, a clean litter box, and plenty of playtime. Since I’m already in a daily rhythm of caring for pets, adding walks or drop-ins fits easily and naturally into my routine. At home, my kitten is always the first one to greet me at the door, so I make sure she gets attention and reassurance right away. I keep her routine consistent—fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and lots of playtime and affection. When caring for a client’s pets, I’m very mindful of their established routines. I follow feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, and any special instructions exactly as given. I want every pet to feel comfortable and secure, so I do my best to maintain the rhythm they’re used to. Whether it’s my home or yours, my priority is making sure pets feel safe, understood, and well cared for.

Anna was amazing! Totally responsive (and quick to respond) even from the planning phase, as well as friendly and not just amenable but very positive about my super long shift request from the beginning. She was very communicative about schedule and details about my pup’s care, and even agreed to meet for a video chat to learn further details. Once she was here was EVEN better! My pup took to her immediately, manically excited the second she met Anna, and Anna not only took her craziness in stride, but showed immediate affection: I felt 100% confident that Makkachin would not only be safe and well cared for, bur would have a GREAT time. Anna made sure she knew every detail about Makkachin’s care and house rules before I left, and then gave Makkachin a fun day of walks and hikes, play times, greetings with other dogs, and plenty of couch cuddles. 🥰. On top of that, Anna is a certified dog trainer and has experience working at a doggy daycare as well as with her own dogs. Makkachin absolutely loved and adored her, and I also enjoyed chatting with cool, friendly Anna. I will definitely use her again, and you should too! You’ll be glad that you did. :)

Alyssa recently stayed at out house and took care of our pup Emma. We rated her 5 stars because 6 stars wasn’t an option. She and Emma got along great and she kept us informed the entire time. She took immaculate care of our place and we think Emma was a little sad to see her leave. We look forward to having her come back.

About: Hey y'all, Im Maverik and I've been pet sitting for roughly around 15 years now and I absolutely love it. both cats and dogs love me and I love them too. I have a lil kitty myself so I'm very familiar with animals and what they need, which is lots of love and care. That's where I come in, with me, aka (woof meow and beyond) I ensure your adorable pets get the care they need and the love they want, thus insuring your pets will be well taken care of. I currently live on a big farm as well so I have a ton of experience with farm animals and indoor/outdoor pets such as chickens, goats and horses. I absolutely enjoy taking care of dogs, cats, chickens, cattle and more and would love to expand my passion to working with your beloved fury family. Ive spent quite a few years working on local farms and currently live on a big farm. im also a great house sitter as well and have had great experiences with many clients and their pets too. I have a little kitty at my home and keep him inside safe so he won't get attacked by other cats or dogs. So I make sure to ensure the same safety and care for your fury loved ones as well

Heather was an excellent sitter for my three cats — Prince Mittens, Sunny Sunshine, and Midnight Moon. Her calm, gentle demeanor made a big difference for Sunny and Midnight, who can be shy, and she was patient, letting them warm up at their own pace. She communicated clearly, sent updates and photos, and even made time for a live video call so I could see and talk to my fur babies. She also did a great job house-sitting, leaving everything clean and in perfect shape. I would absolutely book Heather again without hesitation — she’s calm, reliable, and truly cares for your pets, and I highly recommend her to anyone with shy or sensitive cats.

I immediately noticed qualities in Oleksandra that made me feel comfortable leaving my dog with her while vacationing out of the country. She is honest, mature, and has a passion for animals. She communicated well, both before and during my trip. When I returned home, I could tell my dog had been well loved and taken care of. Oleksandra had also cleaned up quite a bit. I would 100% use her again and recommend her to others.

Mia was a God-send. She worked an overnight on a holiday weekend, which is not easy to find. She came for a free meet and greet, and followed instructions dependably. She is a super warm pet and people person. She is conscientious, responsive, courteous and respective of the premises. My cats were calm and happy upon my return. She sent pictures and was extremely responsive to texts. Stellar sitter. She will be a regular for us. With gratitude-) She was the ideal sitter and we will be calling her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Forest

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Forest on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 241 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Forest. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Forest walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Forest maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Forest choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
