âMark was MORE THAN WONDERFUL!!! Iâm usually a worry wart when leaving my cats or dog, but Mark really put my mind at ease. I knew my sweet babies were in good hands. He followed on instructions to a tee, asked questions for clarification, and sent us many, many pictures of our pets. I missed my 3 cats so much, but Mark made leaving them a little easier by taking such thorough care of them. We will not hesitate to book with Mark again in the future.â

âThis is the second time weâve used Jordyn to watch our dog in our home and she did great with her! We can tell Polly is comfortable with her and loves having her stay here. Jordyn keeps us updated and leaves the house nice and clean. Will definitely use her again for future trips!â

About: Iâve been around any and all types of dogs since a young age. I am a future physical therapist assistant who is dependable, skilled in safety, and fun! My schedule is currently flexible between ending my school program and taking my licensure exam. I am a caretaker through and through and am eager to spread some of that love to dogs. Spending a summer with animals and outside is a dream! I am keen to follow instructions precisely, ask questions, and when in doubt, always go for the safest route. My priorities are always safety and comfort ability in regards to humans AND animals!

âJennifer was absolutely wonderful watching Mika and Lilly! She was so personable and sweet from the first time we met so she could meet the dogs before we left and then was wonderful about providing updates on the dogs throughout our trip! Definitely recommend and will definitely use again!â

âAshlee was so great! She stayed at our house for a few nights and pup sitted our 2 pups. She was great at communicating and sending us updates! She was respectful of our house and cleaned up after herself. We really liked her and so did the pups!â

âHaley and Alex came through for me in a very last-minute and stressful situation due to a family emergency. They stayed with my Boys and kept them happy and cared for in my home while I was out of town. They were great about keeping me updated, especially knowing how stressed I was since this was the first time anyone besides my immediate family took care of my pups. I would definitely book them again and will recommend them to all of my pet parent friends! đśđžâ

âAs always, Megan was a phenomenal dog sitter for our two pups. We are repeat customers and will continue to be! She takes great care of our dogs and our home.â

âNathalia is amazing! She communicates throughout her stay, sends pictures of the pups, and leaves the house spotless. You can tell she really cares for the dogs. Weâll be continuing use her as much as we can!â

About: Iâm different from other sitters because I go above and beyond for the families trusting me with their fur babies! I have 6 years of experience with taking care of homes and animals: I am a college student and part time nanny. I baby sit on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-430 so those two days are unavailable unless you are okay with your pet waiting 8 hours to be let out. I make sure dogs are being let out every 4-8 hours. I will be sure to be changing water bowls and follow the owners feeding schedule. Iâm pretty laid back so I love just cuddling with dogs and cats while watching tv or doing homework! I am honored to be trusted by families to take care of their homes and pets
About: Iâve been caring for animals throughout my whole life and using Rover since the middle of 2022. I donât have any pets of my own and my home is quiet and peaceful. My genuine love for animals, experience with various breeds and special needs, beautifully fenced in yard by the water, and emphasis on love and patience collectively set me apart as a dog sitter who provides exceptional care and creates a loving environment for the dogs entrusted to me. Letâs set up a meet-and-greet so I can meet your pup and you can see how much fun weâll have together! I like to start the day with a quick potty break followed by some playful yard time to get the wiggles out, then itâs straight to breakfast. During the day weâll stroll around the neighborhood, and sniff out some new spots. By evening itâs all about winding down, cozy vibes, and a yummy dinner to wrap up a tail-wagging day! I care for pets by observing their behavior, exercise, play, walks, and snuggles. Please bring along any favorite toys, crate, blankets, or other comfort items they love.

âJessica was absolutely amazing! She was so kind, caring, and clearly loves dogs. She took my dog on a nice walk and even brought enrichment toys and activities to keep him entertained, which was such a thoughtful touch. It gave me such a peace of mind knowing he was in such great hands. We don't live in the area, but we'll definitely be booking Jessica again whenever we're back. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!â

About: As a middle schooler, I worked on a farm property as a pet groomer. I have experience with both dogs and cats, and a specialization with dogs that are disabled and have behavioral issues. I enjoy being active, going on walks, and making sure your fur baby gets the love they deserve! I am currently working part time at an eye-care office! I have a lot of free time, and would love to spend it with your fur baby! I am flexible and happy to accommodate to whatever you and your petâs needs may be. I am respectful of the spaces I am in, and I understand that life can get busy sometimes. I never judge a messy home, and promise that it wonât be an issue. I am just happy to help!
About: As a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief, I bring reliability, patience, and attention to detail to every pet I care for. I know every dog has a different personality, and I take the time to earn their trust while keeping them safe, comfortable, and happy. I'm an experienced dog owner and understand everything from energetic puppies that need structure and exercise to older dogs that benefit from a slower pace and extra patience. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, or just relaxing with company, I'll tailor my care to their needs and stick closely to your routine. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. My goal is simple: to care for your dog the same way I'd want someone to care for my own. I'm retired from the U.S. Navy, so I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets the time and attention they deserve. I build my day around their needs, whether that's morning walks, midday potty breaks, playtime, feeding, or evening visits. I enjoy being outdoors and staying active, so regular walks are something I genuinely look forward to. I also understand the importance of keeping pets on their normal routine to help them feel comfortable while you're away. My goal is to provide dependable, consistent care and make your pet feel safe, happy, and loved every visit. I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow your instructions for feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and any special needs, while making sure your pet receives plenty of attention and affection. During walks and visits, safety is always my top priority. I use secure leashing practices, pay close attention to each dog's comfort and behavior, and never rush their time outside. I clean up after pets, keep fresh water available, and make sure they get both physical exercise and mental stimulation. If I'm caring for your pet in your home, I'll treat your home with the same respect I would my own. You'll receive regular updates and photos, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

âRebecca and team were wonderful! We had a great experience with our dog sitter. They took wonderful care of our pets and were very reliable. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our pets were in good, experienced hands. We highly recommend!â

âKylee is very knowledgeable and experienced with animals. She was flexible and accommodating with my pets' various needs (2 dogs and 2 cats, 2 of whom are senior with health conditions and special dietary and supplement needs). Everything was kept clean and she was communicative throughout. All of our pets were happy and relaxed upon our return. I highly recommend Kylee and her team!â

âBecca was wonderful and took care of everything. She knew exactly how to put my nervous little chihuahua at ease. By the end of the week she was his best friend. She sent me pictures and updates which I really appreciated. I highly recommend her.â

âLauren was awesome - both of our dogs loved having her stay at the house. Her communication was crystal clear and she was very responsive...she also sent plenty of pictures of our pups. Highly recommended!!!â

âKarah was great! She sent daily pictures and I could tell my dogs were well taken care of. She even left some toys for them after she left! I will definitely be reaching out to her the next time Iâm needing a dog sitter!â

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ferndale
It was hard to leave our dog as the 4th of July weekend is scary for her with the fireworks and sheâs getting more nervous as she gets older, but when we got home we could tell Mark took great care of her (as always.) She wasnât stressed at all and he took care of our houseâŚmail, etc. as well. We love having Mark take care of Cookie as we donât have to worry about her at all when we are away.

I have unfortunately had inconsistent experiences using Rover in the past and was hesitant in trying to find a dog sitter for a week long trip through Rover. Jacob however was great to work with and incredibly diligent and timely with my older (particular) dog. I cannot recommend him enough! His calm demeanor immediately put my pup at ease and he made sure to accomidate some specific needs (visits before I left, specific food needs and timely bathroom breaks) to keep my dog comfortable and happy. He communicated effectively before, during and after the trip, which is always greatly appreciated. I'll most definitely be requesting Jacob for any and all future trips.

FAQs for House Sitting - Ferndale
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,898 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ferndale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ferndale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ferndale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ferndale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
