“Mark took such great care of our dog! She was completely happy when we came home and our house was clean, packages and garbage cans brought in. We also had a few changes and he was so flexible. Will definitely be using him again!”

About: I am experienced in administering medicinal injections, nail trimming and teeth brushing of larger breeds, lifting 60+ lbs, pad and potty training, and assisting senior and special needs dogs. I currently work remote and spend most of the day with my own pup by my side. We go to the nearby dog park at least weekly, go on two 20-25 minute walks (1mi+) daily, and play regularly throughout the day. He is very friendly and happy to tag along for any walks or play times, if the company is welcomed. I have a large crate available, if needed, and an in ground stake in the front and back yard with 30ft leads attached, allowing for plenty of time outside in shaded and unshaded areas. Food bowls are cleaned after every meal and pet waste is cleaned up after every trip outside.
“Becca is a very responsible, trusting, kind caregiver. She took care of our two dogs for 8 days in our home and we returned to very well cared for happy dogs and a very well cared for home. We have always boarded our dogs and this was our first time using a in-home service. We couldn’t have had a better experience. I’ve already asked Becca if she is available for two more of our upcoming trips this year. 5 stars”

“Jordyn is exceptional. She shows great skill and care for Duke. And he has quickly become quite attached to her. Jordyn stayed in my home for two weeks while I was on vacation. She took care of everything and gave me such great peace of mind while I was away.”

“Megan is amazing!!! She took care of my 2 dachshunds! She went above and beyond for me! I contacted her 6 months ago about watching my dogs for my wedding day. She brought my dogs to my wedding for me! She took amazing care of both my dogs and sent so many pictures! I would highly suggest her as a dog sitter! Our pups were so taken care of. Thank you Megan!”

About: I’ve been around any and all types of dogs since a young age. I am a future physical therapist assistant who is dependable, skilled in safety, and fun! My schedule is currently flexible between ending my school program and taking my licensure exam. I am a caretaker through and through and am eager to spread some of that love to dogs. Spending a summer with animals and outside is a dream! I am keen to follow instructions precisely, ask questions, and when in doubt, always go for the safest route. My priorities are always safety and comfort ability in regards to humans AND animals!
About: I grew up with lots of animals and have been helped people with there animals and know how to take care and stay on schedule I mostly work afternoons which are typically 8 hour shifts. I can wake up early, and also stop by late at night. I usually am not busy in the morning or on weekends. I currently have a fenced in yard with a pool, so I know how to guide your dog around areas that maybe aren’t the best for them!
“Kylee is very knowledgeable and experienced with animals. She was flexible and accommodating with my pets' various needs (2 dogs and 2 cats, 2 of whom are senior with health conditions and special dietary and supplement needs). Everything was kept clean and she was communicative throughout. All of our pets were happy and relaxed upon our return. I highly recommend Kylee and her team!”

“Declan was amazing with our two dogs. He sent pictures during their walks and playtime and communication was awesome. We would have him again and highly recommend him to others.”

“Rachel is great! She is so accommodating and willing to work with you and your dog(s). She came and did 2 meet and greets with my dog Rascal and he knew her well enough by then for us to book her. She also sent pictures of both dogs throughout our time away to reassure us.”

“Cynthia and Judith were amazing dog sitters and people! They helped my family, and my pup, Candy, out in a bind. Cynthia and Judith took care of my pup like she was their own. They checked in with me daily, sent pictures, and followed all of my instructions. My pup has been going through some health issues recently, and Cynthia and Judith put me and Candy at ease. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

“Grace was excellent! She provided updates when needed and was very helpful and attentive to our requests and instructions. We came home to a happy, healthy puppy and a clean house. All we could ask for in a sitter! We will definitely be booking Grace again! Thanks, Grace!”

“Ida was simply outstanding during her house sitting service, which included four overnights. She kept us informed with plenty of photos (and videos). Most importantly she cared for our almost 2 year old medium bernedoodle like he was her own, be it the walks, play time, feeding, and daily RX. She kept great care of the home keeping things very clean and tidy in our absence. I would highly recommend for any service and it is truly apparent she absolutely loves being around dogs.”

“Mallory was fantastic with Taloa, she gave us regular updates and photos. I think Taloa really enjoyed staying there as well, we hope to continue to use Mallory in the future.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Ferndale is $55
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ferndale
It was hard to leave our dog as the 4th of July weekend is scary for her with the fireworks and she’s getting more nervous as she gets older, but when we got home we could tell Mark took great care of her (as always.) She wasn’t stressed at all and he took care of our house…mail, etc. as well. We love having Mark take care of Cookie as we don’t have to worry about her at all when we are away.

I have unfortunately had inconsistent experiences using Rover in the past and was hesitant in trying to find a dog sitter for a week long trip through Rover. Jacob however was great to work with and incredibly diligent and timely with my older (particular) dog. I cannot recommend him enough! His calm demeanor immediately put my pup at ease and he made sure to accomidate some specific needs (visits before I left, specific food needs and timely bathroom breaks) to keep my dog comfortable and happy. He communicated effectively before, during and after the trip, which is always greatly appreciated. I'll most definitely be requesting Jacob for any and all future trips.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,825 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ferndale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ferndale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ferndale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ferndale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
