“Kiara was amazing. She stayed with Coco the whole day. Coco met her once prior to sitting and when Kiara walked in the door Coco was excited. Dogs are a great judge of character I believe. She was very accommodating and I will definitely use her again.”

“Karrie watched our two GSP’s for a long weekend we were away. We got some good pics of the girls to let us know all was well and it definitely made being away from them easier. Karrie is friendly, personable and the girls seemed to enjoy their time with her.”

“This was a first time leaving our pups with a dog sitter. And Melanie was fantastic… attentive, kind and kept us updated on how the pups were doing, including pictures. I highly recommend Melanie for anyone looking to have someone watch over your fur babies.”
“Margarita was very good with my fur baby . Her attention to details for both the care of my dog, who is blind and her respect of our home was greatly appreciated . We have already booked our next need with her”

“Our dogs loved her and were sad to see her go. Leslie pampered them like the babies they are. Would definitely call on her again in the future. Thank you Leslie for taking such good care of our ladies!”

“David (who actually prefers the nickname "Jack" ) was absolutely phenomenal with our dogs! We have 2 small dogs, one-is very social but the second is very skittish and reluctant to be around people and typically hides in a corner somewhere until the person leaves. She was skittish & shy with Jack at first, but what a difference in just a short time! She was walking around him with her tail up & sleeping next to him on the living room chair! He was very patient and attentive with both of our dogs. Neither lacked for attention. Jack was very flexible for our needs & schedule. We had him stay inside our house for two entire days and was able to feel comfortable with him the entire time. He listened closely to what we expected and followed through without hesitation. He sent us a picture of our dogs and a text during the day to update us on our dogs while we were away to help aleve our worries being away from our babies. Even then, I still touched base with him during the day to check in and give him our updates and he was always quick to respond. I highly recommend Jack and would not hesitate to use him again! Thank you very much!”

“We were so happy to have found Taylor. She was responsive and patient with all of our requests and sent photos/updates of our dog while we were away. It was such a weight off of our shoulders to know our dog was taken care of and also loved on. She’s an anxious pup and really just wants comfort and company. We would absolutely book Taylor to care for her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats most of my life, I own 2 dogs and 5 cats of my own! The rest of my family owns pets of all kinds, so I’ve grown up around all types of animals. I’ve spent a lot of time helping out friends and family when they need someone to watch their pets, I’m always a go to for them! I’m always willing to do whatever is needed of me when it comes to helping out with animals. I have experience with dogs and cats all the way from puppy to end of life moments. I’m currently unemployed, so my schedule is very flexible for all of your pet needs. I’m available most days of the week, weekends and nights. I am extremely careful when it comes to watching animals, I know that an animal is a precious member of any family and I will do all I can to keep your pets safe and happy while feeling loved. I never bring pets into my own home because I am very cautious about how my cats and dogs will react. When I enter other people's homes, I try to work with the owner first to make sure their pet is comfortable with me before leaving. I treat all pets as if they are my own, so rest assured that your pet will be just as spoiled as mine for the times I am with them! I follow ALL instructions given to me by pet parents, and check in anytime I have questions.
“Steffanie is a wonderful sitter and I highly recommend her to watch your pets! She is very friendly, professional, self sufficient and a natural with animals. We returned home to a spotless house and happy pets!”

About: After 7+ years of pet sitting, I know that leaving your furry family member isn't easy. I began sitting after losing my own beloved dog a few years ago—and while my heart still misses him, caring for other pets has been incredibly healing. I treat every dog like they are my own, offering the same snuggles, playtime, and patience I gave him. Your pup won't just be 'watched'; they will be loved on while you're away. Home full-time while I prep for the LSAT, so your dog gets nonstop company 7 days a week. I weave walks and playtime into my study breaks—so while I'm hitting the books, your pup is getting all the belly rubs and fetch sessions they want. 7+ years of pet sitting experience, and I genuinely miss having a fluffy companion around since losing my own dog. Let me spoil yours while you're away! While I'm home full-time studying for the LSAT (available Sunday–Saturday), your dog will have the run of the place—literally. I have a large, fully fenced backyard for unlimited fetch, zoomies, and sunbathing, plus ample indoor space for cozy naps and supervised play when we come inside. With 7+ years of pet sitting experience and a heart still missing my own dog who passed a few years ago, I know how important it is to find a safe, roomy, and loving environment. Your pup will get daily walks, constant company, and all the space they need to feel right at home.

Emily was a fantastic sitter for our pups and kitty! She responded quickly, kept us updated during her stay and sent us photos! I could tell my pups were happy, well-loved, and in great hands. I’d absolutely trust Emily again for future pet sitting and I highly recommend her!

Alexandria was super nice. She came over and met with our 3 weimaraners, who are crazy and full of energy. They took to her immediately;) She stayed at our house, took care of our dogs, house and even cleaned a rug after someone was sick. She sent pictures of them and kept us up to date on the daily activities. We cannot thank her enough for taking care of our crazy bunch and very much appreciate her for doing this. We will definitely recommend and ask her to look after our house and dogs again soon.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ferndale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ferndale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ferndale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ferndale. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
