We truly got exactly what we were looking for with Sarah. She took incredible care of both our fur baby and our home. She was responsive, sent multiple photos and updates throughout the day, and we felt 100% confident in leaving our dog and our home in her hands while away. Can’t recommend enough!

Angelina did a great job of taking care of my 2 Boston Terriers. She walked them and took them on an occasional car ride. She also took great care with my house. It may have been cleaner than when I left it. I would definitely recommend her for your pit sitting needs.

About: I currently don't have much professional experience with pet sitting, but I do have experience with being around others' pets and taking care of my own. Most of my real experience comes from taking care of my family's Australian Shepherd since I was a kid. We have gone on regular walks, maintained routines, and had plenty of playtime together. I'm currently working part-time and a full-time student. However, I still have plenty of time on my schedule throughout the week. I'll be able for walks or check-ins any time Tuesday-Friday. For boarding, the only set time that I have would be Fridays, but my schedule is always fluctuating and other days could also work. I provide attentive, personalized care based on each pet’s routine and needs. For boarding, I make sure to keep it as safe and comfortable for the pet while following their normal schedule. I also keep in mind the cleanliness of the house to ensure that it's kept as a pet-friendly space. During drop-in visits, I make sure pets are fed, have fresh water, get their neurons active, and look for any possible things I need to clean up. For walks, I focus on keeping your pet safe and engaged. I take into account how your pet reacts with other pets (or how you like to deal with it) and adjust the pace based on how they react to their surroundings. I understand the importance of following instructions carefully, so I can also provide updates to keep you at ease!

Crystal is awesome! Being a veterinarian myself, I am pretty particular about who I choose to care for my dogs. Crystal is caring, detail-oriented, and compassionate. She had great communication with us about the booking and about how our dogs were doing and sent lots of pictures of them to keep our minds at ease while we were away. She was super understanding when our start and end dates needed to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances and I appreciated that so much. She has taken care of our dogs in our home twice now and I just booked her again for a longer trip. It is so nice to be able to relax knowing our dogs and our home are in good hands. I highly recommend Crystal to watch your fur babies!

About: I have great experience with all dog sizes, but medium to small is the best for me. I have taken care of elderly dogs before, and I have a small elderly pomeranian at home, so i realize they require gentle care and attention. I have a dog park outside of my apartment that is mostly unused. It is perfect for giving your dog a potty/play break. The street i live on is slow with light traffic. I am able to care for pets 24/7. I am a part time student, mostly on line, so I am at home most of the day. I work in my bedroom or living room, and I have no trouble doing work on my computer with your pet. My apartment is not on a street, just a parking lot. There is a large yard and doggy play pen outside my home. I live with a Vet student, and I am better able to care for animals with her help. I have one roommate, and my apartment is very quiet and large. I am home all day, and i enjoy quiet studying while siting next to your pet. I get bored easily so I go for walks 4-5x a day, which I would love to do together with your pet! I have a lot of patience for animals since I grew up with them, but i prefer low-energy and calm animals because I get overwhelmed easily.

About: I’ve been taking care of Dogs since I was 8 different types of dogs. This allowed me to understand different types of dog behavior. It's been a true passion of mine to take care of dogs. I'm currently free as of now. I have time to house sit just about anytime of the week whether it's a weekend or a weekday at any time scheduled. I have a fenced-in yard that sits around 2 acres which allows bigger or smaller dogs to be able to get their Exercise or space needed to play.

Xanadu is the literal BEST! 10/10 would recommend. She stayed at our place while we flew out for a weekend wedding trip and was extremely flexible when things went awry as hurricane Ian approached. Our trip was canceled and then back on and she came in clutch. Lots of pics and pets for our pup and floof, our minds and hearts were at ease knowing she was here.

She took care of him like if he were her own and that’s what makes her such a wonderful person! My doggy is a big baby and she was able to handle him with the most care and love. About: ◾️ When people ask if I'm a dog or a cat person, I say, "I'm an animal person!" I have a lifelong passion to care for nature and animals, whether cats, dogs, or other critter friends! I grew up with several pets who were part of the family, including a dog and four cats. Currently, I have a crested gecko named Savoofy 🦎 and a mixed Jack Russell dog named Taro 🐶 , whom I adore. I'm also looking for a cat to adopt to join the crew soon! 🐈 ◾️ For many years now, I have been pet-sitting for family and friends. Last year I started pet-sitting professionally, and I have loved getting to meet so many incredible pets and spending time with them 😄 ◾️ I have had the joy of caring for a variety of pets of all ages, breeds, medication needs, and energy levels ⚡️, ranging from young to old, from chihuahuas to mastiffs to mixed dogs, from domestic shorthair cats to Maine Coons, and also including reptiles, birds, and fish. I truly look forward to every walk or jog, every drop-in, every moment with the pets. ◾️Outside of pet-sitting, I love hiking, photography, and art (often with my pup by my side! 📷🌳). Can't wait to meet your furbaby! 💕 ◾️ I am a full-time pet-sitter with flexible booking times, so I can accommodate a variety of times to best maintain your pet's/pets' routines! 🗓 ◾️ In-home pet care can work best for many pets, since they are in their most comfortable environment. I am happy to help care for your pet/pets in your home in the best way possible, depending on their needs and personality. I have fun taking dogs for short walks or for longer adventures 🌎, at a slow pace or jogging. I also always enjoy playing with dogs or cats 🎉, or just hanging out with them and checking on them if they're in a more chill mood. I walk dogs rain or shine and will dry their fur afterwards (as long as you and your pup are comfortable with the rain!) I always love getting to see multiple animals at once, and other cute critters like birds, rodents, reptiles, and fish are always welcome too! I am experienced in administering a variety of medications as well. ◾️ Boarding pets in someone else's home can be a great option as well in some cases. I am unable to offer boarding at this time since I live in a small apartment, but my dream is to board all the animals once I have a house with a backyard! 🏡

FAQs for House Sitting - Evinston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 586 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Evinston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Evinston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Evinston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Evinston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Evinston. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
