“Abby did an excellent job caring caring for my little dog. She treated him with love and kindness and followed my directions to a T. She sent pictures and notes about how their day went. I will definitely ask her again.”

About: Hi! I'm Megan, and I've been around dogs my entire life. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me, and I truly love getting to know each pet's unique personality. I previously worked as a receptionist at a veterinary clinic, where I learned to recognize when a pet may need medical attention and became familiar with common health concerns. While I'm not a veterinarian, I know what warning signs to look for and won't hesitate to contact you or seek veterinary care if something doesn't seem right. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, going on adventures, or curling up on the couch for cuddles, I'm happy to match their routine and make them feel comfortable while you're away. My goal is to treat every pet like they're my own, so you can have peace of mind knowing they're safe, loved, and well cared for. I can't wait to meet you and your furry family! I currently work part-time at a hospital in Lincoln, where I work two 12-hour shifts each week. Since I create my own schedule, I know my availability up to six weeks in advance. In short, I have plenty of flexibility and time to provide the care and attention your fur baby deserves! I am more than willing to watch your fur babies in the comfort of their own home, where they can stay in a familiar and comfortable environment. I know how important it is for pets to keep their normal routine, especially when their humans are away. I will treat your pets like they are my own and make sure they get plenty of love, attention, playtime, and care while you’re gone. I am also respectful of your home and will make sure everything is left the way I found it.
“Alaina was so responsible with our pups and house! Very good with communication and Shari g pics of the pups while we were away! She went above and beyond! So appreciated everything!!”

About: I love being around animals! I got my first dog when I was 15 and trained him myself. Then I have dogs sat for countless families. I have cared for puppies to senior dogs and of all kinds. I work part time and go to college full time, but I have lots of time in my schedule for pups. I am avalible in the afternoons and on weekends I do not have a fenced in yard, but I have a yard and I love to go for walks and be outside with your dog! I can crate them if preferred or accommodate to many situations.
About: I love animals, particularly cats. I’m patient but firm. I can ignore the incessant whines for excessive amounts of food. I am comfortable administering medications and picking up messes. Your fur baby is safe with me! I’m a student in college. I am free most afternoons and evenings and can spend the night at your house or apartment. Unfortunately, bringing the animals to my apartment is not an option. I’ve got plenty of free time and am excited to take care of your animal! I can not take animals at my apartment. I am more than happy to come to your location. I can do walks, bathroom breaks, feeding, playing, and any of the dirty work that comes with it!

“Our Hazel and Estes have a new buddy and we are so happy and grateful for Piper for taking such good care of them. Piper provided daily pictures that showed our puppies enjoying their time. We will definitely book again!”

“Tracy is wonderful! She took great care to keep our pets on their schedule, took our dog on walks, gave the cats and dog lots of love, and took great care housesitting. She went above and beyond. She kept us up to date on how everyone and everything was. We will definitely have Tracy back when we need a sitter in the future.”

“At first, I was very nervous about finding a pet sitter who would take good care of my Lilly for several days while I was away. But as soon as I met Donelle, I knew Lilly would be more than well taken care of! Donelle sent me frequent updates, always responded to my messages promptly, and reached out whenever she had any questions or wanted to make sure Lilly was comfortable. She truly went above and beyond to ensure Lilly's well-being, and that gave me so much peace of mind while I was traveling! I would recommend Donelle 100% to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Lilly!”

“Hannah was amazing! We will definitely be booking her again. She sent us photos while we were gone which was so sweet. She left the house clean after her stay, she was respectful and very professional. I will be recommending her to all my friends!”

About: I’ve had family dogs my whole life and love to do things outdoors with my dogs. I have two dogs right now one old and one a puppy both with completely different personalities. I’m a student at the university of Nebraska so weekends and afternoons are when I’m most available. I don’t have many other commitments besides classes so I’m very available. I live in my family’s home in Minnesota during summer and breaks but live in apartment in Lincoln during the school year. Brining pets to my apartment wouldn’t work, so I would have to go to clients home.
“Ashley was wonderful with our dogs and house sitting. She went the extra mile and we will be hiring her again for any dog/house sitting we need in the future. Thanks Ashley!”

“Emma did a great job with my 2 dogs this past weekend. She communicated regularly with me and attached photos and a video. She seemed to be especially patient with my 9 month old with a little extra puppy energy. I’ve never used a Rover sitter for several days while I was out of town, but Emma made me feel confident they were in good hands.”

“Avery did a great job watching our pets. We had her stay overnight and our house and pets were very well cared for. We will definitely be reaching out to her next time we are out of town.”

About: I have had dogs since I was born. Have had two of my own and then have always had a family dog. Have sat dogs for friends, family, and coworkers. Love going for walks and would love to take your pal on one with me. Monday - Friday I work 8 - 4:30. I have a 30 minute lunch that I can let the dog out. And then after 4:30 I can take dogs for walks or house sit dogs all evening. Weekends have availability all day. Very flexible! I will follow any rules or instructions left for taking care of your dog. Just let me know and I will make it happen! I can provide company, play with them, feed them, and take them for walks.
“Marikita was absolutely wonderful to work with! She took excellent care of our two dogs and took extra care to keep them in their normal routines while we were away. We were kept in the loop with detailed updates every day and plenty of pictures. I really feel like we received top level service, and I never worried about our pups. I would definitely recommend working with Marikita!”

About: I have grown up around animals my entire life and pet sat for family members while they're on vacation for a week or even longer! I am currently only doing this so I am open to anything anytime! I am open to staying overnight and doing some cleaning for you! I will ask for detailed instructions and behaviour about the animal and any trigger things for the animal, I want to have the best care.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Emerald walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Emerald maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Emerald choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Emerald. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
