“Sharon was awesome! She did a great job taking care of our cat and dog. She sent us multiple updates every day with pictures included. She even got our cat to warm up to her and he is usually very standoffish with new people.”

“We are absolutely obsessed with our cats and always feel confident in leaving them in Eleanor's care. She takes great care of them, spends time, and is highly communicative. Will always reach out to Eleanor when we are out of town!”

“Sara did a great job spending an hour a day with our cat, Lemon for the week we were away. We could tell Lemon would be in good hands when I first let hold her and saw how both of them responded. I highly recommend Sara.”

“Dylan’s communication was fantastic and showed up for my pup and made sure she was comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you Dylan, we appreciate your time and the care you provided so we could enjoy our time away!”

“Mollie is extremely responsible and communicative. We’ve had sitters for years, but she especially impressed me because she came to the meet and greet with her own questions and took notes to be sure she understood all about our dog, Cookie. She kept in touch before the drop in visit and worked through a problem with us right away. She earned my trust and we will call on her again for drop in and house-sitting needs!”

“Amazing work Julie! Super grateful to have you take care of Lou! Julie was so loving and treated my kitty so well while I was away! She always sent me pictures and videos of her and kept me updated at all times!! My kitty can be a lot of work and Julie was so incredibly patient and understanding; 10/10 experience (:”

About: I understand how stressful it can be to board your pet or leave them home alone. I want to care for your furry friends the way you would, so you can be assured they are comfortable and happy at home. I have had dogs and cats my entire life; currently I have one dog and one cat of my own. I've also cared for the pets of many friends and neighbors over the years. I love making new furry friends! I am available for house-sitting, dog walking, drop-in visits and playtime, cat care, etc. just let me know what you need and I'll make it work. Looking forward to meeting you and your pets! I have a full-time job aside from Rover. I am available to care for your pets early in the morning, evening/night after work, overnight, and on the weekend. I work remotely a couple days a week, so I do have mid-day availability those days (let's talk if that's something you're interested in and I can give you more details). It's of the utmost importance to me that both you and your pet feel safe and comfortable with me! I'm happy to do a meet-and-greet before you commit to care, and I can send you all the text updates you'd like.
“Kellie was great. She sent us some cute pictures of Charlie and the details of each visit. She is very professional and friendly and we are happy that she took great care of Charlie. Would definitely recommend!”

“Glenn and Diana were the best sitters ever! We have a very hyper, young lab who does not like to be left alone. We have never used a professional pet sitting service before and Glenn and Diana provided us with not only did they provide excellent pet care, but they were extremely flexible with several last minute schedule changes. They also helped us navigate the Rover app to help correct errors on our part as well as giving our dog some short training sessions with sit, down, and stay while they were spending time with her. Glenn and Diana played a lot of fetch with the dog and gave our cat tons of attention too. Great sitters who really put us at ease! We highly recommend them and Rover!”

About: I have taken care of cats and dogs of all kinds for over 10 years. I grew up with 3 cats and 2 dog. I love animals and I can stay in your home or host pets. Your dog will be allowed on the couch and bed. I have a fenced in back yard where your dog will always be accompanied by me. I will give lots of cuddles and love. I work full time but I have a hybrid schedule where I can be home all day. I can also stop in for visits as needed. I have a fenced in yard and will always be with your dog in the yard. We can go for great walks around the SUNY Albany campus. I currently have 2 cats that are very kind and curious.
About: I’ve taken care of animals my whole life, I’ve owned multiple dogs & cats that are sadly no longer with me. I love the joy going for a run or walk can bring them. Bathing your furry friend is never an issue. I do have a cat named Zelda who loves animals but she’s the only one I have now. Offering boarding services for holiday times coming up! I work part time and go to school full time as well as being a mother to my daughter. We can always talk about what works best for us both & your furry friend(s). I do have an open backyard but I do have extra long tie outs so they will be able to run. I have no problem taking them to a local dog park or a walk around the neighborhood. If you’re going on vacation & your furry friend can’t come, we can easily discuss what works best for scheduling.
About: I have plenty of references and experience with pet care. Growing up, I always had a dog and cat in the home. Currently, I live in an apartment and can’t get a dog. My boyfriend is allergic to cats, so I can’t get a cat either 😢 But I have plenty of friends and family who I have given pet care to. I can read animals pretty well and always prioritize their needs. I currently work full time but would love to use any extra time I have to help out your family. I work 3pm-11pm Sunday-Thursday. I am available all weekends unless my calendar says otherwise. When it comes to caring for pets, I prioritize their needs and make sure they have everything needed. I like to keep the parents in the know of how they are doing and update with pictures as often as possible 😊

About: Hi, my name is Leydi! I’ve loved dogs and cats my whole life and have been around them since I was little. I have over 20 years of experience caring for dogs and cats for family and friends. I’ve always dreamed of working with animals because I truly enjoy being around them and making sure they’re happy, safe, and well cared for. I love seeing dogs go on walks, play, and just enjoy their day, and I feel the same way about cats and their unique personalities. Rover feels like a perfect fit for me because I get to do something I genuinely love. I’m very patient, responsible, caring, and attentive, and I would love the chance to meet and take care of your furry friend :) I’m super responsible and committed. I can definitely accommodate your needs with a little bit of advance notice. Having my own dog, I know how much time they need, so I dedicate pretty much all of my free time to her and I'd love to do the same for your pup! I live in an apartment complex surrounded by lots of nature! We have a dedicated area in the back with both a fenced dog park and a big open one. I have a small dog named Lola who is super friendly and loves playing with dogs and cats. While I prefer watching your pup at your place, I’m happy to host for doggy daycare!
“Dakota is a lovely and attentive caregiver. My older lady cat needs a daily visit and Dakota was thoughtful and great in her communication. Odie was much more happy and relaxed when I returned. Will definitely work with Dakota again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Elsmere
Sharon is a sweetheart. Unfortunately, she was never able to watch our three kitties because one of them got sick, but Sharon went out of her way to meet with us before the date to get to know us, and she kindly refunded us monies for the stay she was supposed to be here for. We will definitely be in touch with her in the future. She's a responsive, reliable, and kind person. Looking forward to her watching my babies.

Katie is a fantastic cat sitter. She shows up on time and provides exceptional care. My cat is usually skittish around new people, but Katie's calm energy put my kitty at ease. You can tell Katie is a cat person through and through! Would highly recommend booking her services.

Karen was great! She came at the right times every day and was very careful to follow my instructions for feeding my two cats. They have a special diet that involved a couple extra step to serve. She was flexible when the dates of my trip changed. And what a pleasant person. I would definitely recommend her to other cat owners, and use her again myself.

I was honestly in a panic when I messaged Christine last minute because the sitter I had booked months in advance suddenly couldn’t watch my dogs anymore. Christine responded so quickly and completely saved the day! She truly is a star and took such great care of my babies. I didn’t even have time to do a meet and greet beforehand, and I still felt completely comfortable with her. She was amazing from start to finish. Thank you so, so much for saving me and my dogs! ❤️ I would absolutely book with her again!

Erica is an amazing person and a caring pet sitter. They helped take care of my two kitties fish and plants while I was away. During our meet and greet Erica was engaging and attentive when I was explaining the tasks I would like done. Erica went above and beyond. My kitty got a nervous stomach while I was away and Erica helped clean the mess so I wasn’t extra stressed when I got back. Skittles takes a long time to warm up to pet sitters but she didn’t hide this time and Erica made sure to feed her separately from her brother. Tiberius is happy Erica gave love and attention when we were gone as he gets extra lonely. Thank you again Erica. Best pet sitter I had on rover.

Alicia was communicative, trustworthy, and flexible with the changes to our original plan. I love how she always sends multiple pictures and detailed updates about how the cats are doing. She went above and beyond and I will 100% be reaching out to her again when we need cat care!
Alison was very helpful with a short notice check in with our pups. We were out for a while and it helped knowing that someone was coming by to check in. We received pics and a video and Alison texted before she left to make sure we didn't need anything else.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
