About: I have had dogs my whole life. Last one a pug for 14 years. Took care of her needs being paralyzed for several years. Had small poodle for 18 years I am retired. Travel at times. Live alone. Really miss having a sweet doggy. Lots of love here to give to a pet. Always first with me. Have a nice place. Closed in deck. Screened in porch. Nice yard and place to walk pet and let them out for bathroom breaks ❤️

“Nancy and her boys were able to watch Penny for me on really short notice, and I was so thankful her schedule worked out! My old girl is pretty low maintenance except for being deaf and that was no problem. Penny made herself right at home and was very happy and relaxed after her day. Overall Nancy is fantastic to work with... from the start of planning and confirming the booking she responded quickly and enthusiastically. She was also great about being flexible with her schedule for drop off and pick up. Highly recommend and would absolutely book with Nancy again! :-D”

About: I am a new sitter on Rover, but don’t let that put you off. :) My family has never known a time where we didn’t have pets! When I was five years old, my parents entrusted to me a sweet black kitty for whom I was solely responsible for. Not only did this experience affirm my love for animals, but it also jumpstarted me into a world of responsibility! Since then, we have rescued dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes, happily welcoming “bully” breeds and giving them all the love and care they deserve! I’ve cared for elderly dogs and cats with and without disabilities, as well as those who need certain medications or injections. Further, big breeds do not intimidate me- I love them! Perhaps most importantly, I will love and care for your pet as if it were my own! ❤️ I am currently a graduate student at Virginia Tech, and as such, my weekdays are fairly busy until the evenings. If you need overnight care on the weekdays, let me know and we can work something out! I typically have a couple meetings in the mornings that I can conduct on zoom, but I do have in person class from 2-5 that I will need to leave your home for. Fridays and weekends, however, are wide open! I have two sweet, playful cats currently and live in an apartment, so it is likely that care will be provided in your house! I often find this is better anyway, as your pet is already comfortable in their home and less likely to feel stress with change.

About: Throughout the past few years I've been able to help dogs walk better on a leash just by taking them on regular trips. I'm patient and happy to adjust to the dog's normal routine and the family's expectations so rules are still followed when they return. Overall, I'm doing this because I love dogs and want to care for them just as you do! I do work a full-time job, but I’m happy to care for pets on the weekends, in the mornings and evenings outside of my work hours, and can many times care for them during lunchtime. In a client’s home, I’m very respectful of the environment and ensuring that the client’s expectations for home care and the relationship with the pet is respected (ex. Keeping pets off furniture, placement of toys and bowls, clean up).

About: I like to take a supervised yet hands-off approach to watching over dogs. That is, letting dogs be their curious and playful selves while making sure they're safe and well taken care of. I've owned dogs my whole life (breeds including portuguese water dog, rottweilers, maltese/poodle mix, terrier mix, schnauzer/poodle mix, and a german shepherd currently) and find that they are happier and better behaved when given freedom to explore and lead rather than be expected to remain obedient and tame at all times. Some pups need more structure and thrive on a little more rigidity though, and I am very capable of meeting whatever their needs are and sticking to what you know is best for their personality. I am easily swooned by all kinds of dogs but am not one to let them use their good looks and charm to get the best of me. I am mostly just excited to hang out with as many of these guys as I can! I do want to be transparent that I work regular hours Mon - Fri, so I cannot stay with your pups 24/7 during the week. That being said, lunch time bathroom breaks are a guarantee! Walks in the morning and in the evening, and a quick potty break in the afternoon! I do have a day job, but your sweet pup will always be my first priority. I have a large backyard and live just a few short minutes from the Huckleberry Trail 🙂 I also have a spacious yard where your furry friend can roam free!

“Crystal is amazing. She is so friendly and makes sure you’re comfortable when you leave your dogs. Her space is perfect for dogs to play and rest, and she sent us pictures throughout the day. Her dogs are so friendly as well! Thank you Crystal!”

About: I grew up on a farm, always having dogs and cats around. I also worked at a small animal shelter for 3 years, where I rescued my 2 cats and dog. Later I worked at a pet supply store. We were given extensive education on pet nutrition, handling and care. I have always been friends and families go to person for their pet sitting needs. Also I cared for my husband's 2 elderly dogs when we moved in together, helping them eat, administering medications and helping them in and out of the house. I have an open schedule as I am new to the area. I am more than happy to come to you or you can come to me! Whatever your pet needs are I can attend to. If crating is needed I can do that, I live less than a mile from a nature center where we can go on hikes and walk. If I am needed in your home just let me know the details of what you would like and I can make that happen as well.

About: What sets me apart is my deep, lifelong love for animals and hands-on experience with pets of all ages. I currently care for 4 dogs and 2 cats of my own, and I’ve never gone a day without tending to an animal. I’m especially patient with senior pets and gentle with shy or anxious animals. I’m also comfortable with basic puppy training, medication administration, and special care routines. Your pet will be treated like one of my own—with love, attention, and respect every step of the way. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine—I plan my day around feeding, walking, playtime, grooming, and giving each pet one-on-one attention. With 4 dogs and 2 cats of my own, I’m constantly in tune with their needs, from early morning potty breaks to evening cuddle time. Caring for animals isn’t something I “fit in”—it’s just how I live my life. Whether it’s a quick check-in or an overnight stay, I’m fully committed to giving every pet the love and care they deserve. At my home, pets enjoy a little over an acre of land with a fully fenced-in yard—perfect for safe outdoor play, exercise, and exploring. The space allows dogs to run freely and burn off energy in a secure, supervised environment. Inside, the atmosphere is calm, clean, and pet-friendly, with cozy spaces for rest, play, and feeding. I understand and respect the importance of crate training—I crate my own dogs when I’m not home to ensure their safety and comfort. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or a client’s, I always follow routines closely and provide a safe, loving, and structured environment where pets feel right at home.

About: We are a homeschooling family of five. After losing our first dog last year, we finally adopted again. Our pup is very social and although she has plenty of attention at home, she would love to have fur friends to play with. We are available most days of the week and are out of the house not more than 1-2 hours at a time. We have three children between the ages of five and eleven who all love dogs and are very gentle with them. We’d love to play, walk, or just hang out. Whether we’re playing or schooling, your pup will have company. We understand that your pets are family members and we’ll treat them as such at our house. We look forward to the opportunity to meet and spend quality time with your fur babies.

About: Hello! My name is Holly and animals definitely hold a very special place in my heart. I grew up with dogs and every single one became family and my best friend. I know how special the bond between a pet and human can be and that it can be hard to leave them behind. When I moved from the west to east coast six years ago, it was a big realization how difficult it is to leave the pets behind with someone you don't know. I hope to provide that comfort in knowing they are in amazing hands! I have a part time job in the area, which still gives me plenty of time to fill up my days to care for your pet. I provide a calm presence to your pet while I come to check on them and will take the time to ensure they feel comfortable.

Nancye D.
“If you can trust anyone with the safety and care of your pet, it would be Nancye. Nancye cared for her last rescue pet till the bitter end while holding her paw at the vet. Her pet was disabled for the past two years in which she had her whole home fixed for her precious pet to be comfortable with clean diapers constantly. Had a back legged wheels for her to be able to motivate long as possible. Nancye has a heart full of love to give any pet. I know she keeps the local pets in treats and clean water when needed. My Labradoodle fell in love with her the first thing. There should be no one ever to worry about leaving their pet(s) with her. She has had a pet most of her life and still has room for more love to give.”

Madison S.
“I had an outstanding experience with Madison on Rover! From the moment I reached out, Madison was professional, communicative, and incredibly attentive to all our pets’ needs. She went above and beyond to ensure that my dogs…and cats, fish, gecko…were comfortable, safe, and well cared for during their stay. I appreciated the daily updates and photos that helped me feel at ease while I was away. It's clear that Madison has a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to providing top-notch care. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter. I’ll definitely be booking again!" Madison is the ONLY person we will ever let take care of our fur babies! She came highly recommended from others. She is very trustworthy, accommodating, and reliable which are very important, but what is also very important to us is her excellent care for our pet “children.” She is so warm, gentle, friendly, and patient with all of our critters. She plays with and loves on them, talks to them and takes the pups on walks and to the park. Madison has even had to take one of our babies to the vet while we were out of town. It means so much to us that our fur babies are in safe and loving care when we cannot be with them. They all love her! We do too! Rover is lucky to have such a reliable and caring person working for them, as Madison is all that and so much more.”

Katie R.
“Katie watched my dog over New Years Eve this last year, and did a fantastic job! She made sure he was loved on, played with, and went on good walks to get his energy out. She had great boundaries with him so he wouldn't misbehave, and she gave me updates on him while I was away. I would recommend Katie to anyone looking for a dog walker or sitter!”

Julia H.

“Julia looked after my two pups, Glipglop and LaLa, every weekend for a year. During that time she proved to be consistently reliable and gave my little ones all of love and care a pet owner could ask for! She always went above and beyond to make sure the needs of my furry friends were met. Her face lit up whenever she was around Glipglop and LaLa and they fully embraced her presence as well. I have the utmost respect for Julia and would highly recommend her to anybody seeking care for their pets - she is a lovely individual. Thanks again Julia!”

Crystal H.

“Crystal is amazing. She is so friendly and makes sure you’re comfortable when you leave your dogs. Her space is perfect for dogs to play and rest, and she sent us pictures throughout the day. Her dogs are so friendly as well! Thank you Crystal!”

Sarah D.
“Sarah is wonderful with both dogs and cats! Not only is she the absolute best pet parent to her own, but I had the privilege to work alongside her at a pet supply boutique where she helped hundreds, if not thousands of pet parents with their pet nutrition and care needs! I actually own a pet sitting business now and if she didn’t live so far from me, you’d bet I’d have her as a part of my ‘Pack’! Highly recommend!”
