Peter was exceptional. Right before we left one of the dogs was diagnosed with cancer and he went above and beyond to give us updates and deal with issues. Could not have asked for better service or responsiveness. Think the dogs wanted to leave with him

About: I can't remember a time in my life I did not have my own pets. I have taken care of my own pets all of my life and am a lifelong animal caregiver. I have experience as a foster mom for an animal rescue as well and I enjoyed taking care of so many different babies and helping them find their forever homes. I have always had both cat and dog companions and have advocated and helped friends and family with their pets as well. I currently have a senior dog, a senior cat, who have both been with me for over 13 years, three cats who are two years old and a leopard gecko! I would love to meet you and help with your pet care needs! I'm currently available part-time, on Monday- Friday from 9:00 am- 1:30 pm. I would be happy to work around your schedule as much as possible! I have a fenced in yard and pets of my own. I understand each pet has their own personality and needs tailored to them. I will be an active listener and always treat and care for your pets according to your wishes!

About: I have taken care of dogs for the past 5 years, including a chihuahua of my own and my family’s dogs. I have experience raising puppies and caring for senior dogs as well. Even though every dog is different, I am able to provide adequate care and attention to every fur baby that I have the privilege of looking after. I am currently a student and have plenty of down time when I am not at school. This includes Fridays and Weekends and I can be pretty flexible with time! I keep frequent communication with pet owners, I’m able to accommodate to a dog needs, and am pretty knowledgeable about dog behavior to know their needs.

About: I have been taking care of my friends and families animals since I was a child. I currently have a 7 year old male Shiba Inu that I’ve raised from 9 weeks old. He’s very friendly, and potty trained. He gets tons of love all the time, along with our male 5 year old Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier named Skipper. I will be more than happy to take care of and play with your animals/babies. I keep the dogs on a close leash to me when walking. I would prefer a harness if they are not leash trained, to avoid tugging or pulling. I always keep a couple plastic bags handy for picking up poop when needed. I graduated in 2022 with a bachelors degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Florida. I am currently a full time veterinary technician at Avondale Animal Hospital and I am more than happy to help out. I keep my dogs on a daily schedule so I understand the need for routine. Currently just moved to the area and learning my way around, I’d be happy to fit you in. I prefer visits at the client’s home to ensure safety of the pet and to make sure they are not stressed from a new place.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every size and personality since I was 14, and I treat every pet like they’re my own. Neighbors, friends, and family rely on me because I’m patient, gentle, and really pay attention to what each dog needs. I’m great with shy or anxious pets, and I know how to keep energetic dogs active, happy, and safe. Whether it’s walking, feeding, playtime, or baths, I make sure every pet feels loved and cared for the entire time you’re away. Your fur baby will always be my priority. I’m a nursing student with a very flexible schedule, so it’s easy for me to fit pet care into my day. I plan my classes and study time around my bookings, which means your pet always gets my full attention. I love having animals as part of my daily routine, and I’m happy to adjust to whatever schedule your fur baby needs. Your pet’s safety and comfort mean everything to me. I take my time to learn what each fur baby needs so they always feel calm and cared for. I keep a clean, peaceful environment and follow your routines closely—feeding, walking, litter care, meds, anything they need. Whether I’m in your home or mine, you can trust that your pet will be loved, watched closely, and treated gently every moment they’re with me.

Allison stayed for 8 nights with our 3 month old puppy (Katie) while we were out of the Country. We were concerned with leaving her because she is still so young and has a ton of energy and puppy moments. However, Allison was great. She took care of our Katie and kept us informed of how things were going while we were gone. It helped make our trip worry free. I would highly recommend Allison to take care of your fur baby.

Riley was great. My Bentley is young and in the middle of potty training. Riley continued to work with him during his stay and took the necessary time and patience needed. This took a lot of late nights and early mornings. I cant say enough how happy we were with the time he put in with Bentley. He left the house in pristine condition and followed up with a call to summarize the week. Riley is awesome and we will continue to use him in the future when available.

About: I am a lover of all animals, an Auburn graduate, and a law student here in Birmingham. I spend much of my free time reading, and I truly can’t think of a better way to spend my day than with your precious pet! I have grown up around animals of all kinds and have always loved caring for them. I understand how important it is to feel confident that your pet is in good hands while you’re away, and I would love to give you that peace of mind while giving your pet plenty of love, attention, and companionship. Whether your pet needs a long walk, some playtime, extra cuddles, or simply a little company while you’re away, I would be happy to help! I’ll treat your pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I am a full time student so I am on campus from around 10-4 on weekdays, but am available most nights/afternoons as well as weekends. I’m happy to come to your home and spend quality time with your pet while you’re away! I know how much pets can miss their people, so I’m more than happy to keep them company, give them plenty of attention and affection, play with them, take them outside, or simply hang out with them so they don’t feel lonely. I’ll follow their normal routine as closely as possible and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their own home.

About: I love dogs, and while I’m not planning on getting one of my own right now, I’d love the opportunity to care for yours! Since I work remotely from home, I have the flexibility to give your dog plenty of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. My goal is to make sure your pup feels safe, loved, and right at home while you’re away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work remotely from home and have a flexible schedule. That allows me to give dogs regular attention, take them on walks, provide playtime, and make sure they stay on their normal feeding and potty schedule. I genuinely enjoy being around dogs, so caring for them doesn’t feel like a chore! it’s something I look forward to. My goal is to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free environment where your pet feels comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own. I make sure they have fresh water, regular meals, plenty of exercise, and lots of attention throughout the day. Since I work remotely, I’m home most of the time, so your dog won’t be left alone for long periods. I follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. I also understand that every dog has a different personality, so I take the time to help them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for.

About: As much of a people person I am, I’d consider my self equally as much of a pet person! I love to engage with animals and learn about their personalities and engage with them in whatever environment keeps them happy and healthy! I work full-time, 4 days/week with 1 off day during the week. My evenings and weekends are pretty flexible and I’m willing to work with whatever accommodations that may be required of me. Due to the lack of roaming space in my apartment, I don’t usually host pets in my home plus I have my own pup to tend to! 😌

About: I've had animals since I was ten. I have lots of friends who work high-travel jobs, so I have years of experience taking care of their pets while they are away. I love animals and I love giving their humans the peace of mind that their best friend is safe while they are away. I'm currently working part time, so I have a lot of flexibility when it comes to scheduling. I work M/W afternoons and Sunday mornings, but otherwise I'm available during the morning, afternoon, and evening. I sometimes substitute teach as well, so more notice is always better in terms of scheduling your pet's care. I cannot keep animals in my home at this time, but I am happy to maintain a clean, happy, and healthy environment for your pet in your home. I can offer regular walks, potty breaks, and playtimes to keep your best friend from getting lonely while you are away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Edgewater

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 569 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Edgewater. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edgewater walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edgewater maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edgewater choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Edgewater. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
