About: Hey! I'm Darby, I have 6 years of experience caring for pets of all shapes and sizes including dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals. Pet sitting was the fist way I discovered I could make money when I was in middle school, and I still love it to this day! I have about 1.5 years of experience working as a trained veterinary technician. This means that I am comfortable working with special needs animals, providing special diets, and administering medication. I am also familiar working with animals that may be anxious. Right now, I'm studying animal biology at The University of Tennessee, working at an exotic animal clinic, and am starting to apply for veterinary school. Relevant Classes: Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Cellular & Molecular Biology, Small Animal Veterinary Medicine I'm currently working part-time and taking college courses online. My best availability is all-day Friday-Sunday, but I can be flexible if I have a heads up! I like to make sure I have everything I need to know from a client before they leave so I don't have to bother them too much while they're away! This includes medication, feeding schedule, behavioral problems, and any space that may be off limits to myself and/or the pet. I'm no stranger to a mess, so no worries if your pet is prone to accidents.
“I can’t thank Ryan enough for taking such good care of Blue while I was away. He kept me updated with pics and messages which was much appreciated! Ryan is also a good communicator, dependable, and follows instructions. His calm demeanor also helps keep Blue’s excitable nature in check! 😄. Blue was a happy, healthy boy when I returned. I wouldn’t hesitate to request Ryan again in the future!”

“Chas was awesome! One of my dog had a health issue while I was away and she was quick to spot it and even went to the store to get him the required medication. She definitely went above and beyond and I highly recommend booking her.”

“Justin has cared for my great dane & lab many times over the last few months. We normally travel at least once long weekend a month, sometimes more. His time with my dogs has improved my life and more specifically, my great danes life, immensely. I realize that may seem like a strange statement for a pet sitter, but let me explain. Kane, the Dane, had turned from a well socialized dog to a very reactive dog through Covid. I had done so many things to try to prevent this from ever appearing, and was a bit overwhelmed to find myself with 165 pound unpredictable, but beautiful animal. With a lot of training and work, I finally got to a place where I could walk him down the street without a muzzle on again. Huge moment for us. I really thought the days of taking him with me to public dog friendly locations was over. And it’s saddened me because I wanted a dog that would be part of my everyday life, not one stuck at the house with an occasional walk. Then Justin entered the scene. With my permission, Justin spent a lot of time not only caring for their basic needs, but socializing them. During this last booking, Justin was even able to take Kane to a local pet friendly establishment, and they both had a great experience. My phone was flooded with pictures and videos of Kane enjoying being part of the world. It was incredible to see that dog again, because it’s been years. I had honestly tried to set that dream aside, thinking it was forever out of reach. A few days after I returned home, Justin went even further above and beyond. He met me and Kane at that same dog friendly location to help give me confidence and support should anything go awry. I got a first row seat to watch my dog be adored on by stranger after stranger. We even had a few nose stiff with the other dogs with no incident. It’s hard to put into words when you thought something you hoped and dreamed for was gone forever, and then it emerges from the most unexpected places. I know to many pet owners this may sound like an overly dramatized story. But to those who have challenges with reactive dogs, you know just how life changing it is. Thank you, Justin. There are not enough words to express how grateful I am to you.”

“Kiara did such an amazing job watching my pup! My pup is reactive and nervous around strangers and she followed all of my instruction on how to interact with him and everything went great!”

“Allie was amazing. Sent lots of cute pictures of my fur babies and even a cute little schedule of things they did throughout the day! We would definitely love to have Allie back to take care of our fur babies again!”
“Jade was great. We would like to thank you so much for allowing us to be able to trust someone to stay at the house and take care if not only the dogs but other tasks while we were gone. We would definitely use her again.”

“Danielle saved me once with a list minute drop in and I was so happy with her care that I knew she was the perfect fit for my long vacation. She helped me figure out that house sitting was a better option and kept me informed all week! This was the longest I had been away from my fur baby but I was able to go about my vacation with NO WORRIES because Danielle kept me up to date and I knew he was in great hands. Will 100% book again!”
“Addie was fantastic. She stayed at my home for 15 days watching Freddie and Purrl, and honestly the communication alone made the whole trip stress-free. She sent regular updates and photos, so I never had to wonder how they were doing — I just knew. Came home to two happy, well-cared-for animals and a house left in great shape. Addie was respectful of my space the entire time, which matters a lot when someone's living in your home. Would book her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone who wants a sitter they can actually trust while they're away.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - East Ridge
Trish was great and made herself available on short notice to meet and watch our puppy, Ophelia, who absolutely loved her. We really appreciated kindness, disposition, and flexibility. We'll now feel more comfortable going out knowing Ophelia is lovingly cared for.

Terezie is simply the best. We had a truly terrible experience with who had been watching our cats (NOT someone on Rover) and were left feeling nervous about finding someone new. The minute Terezie and I began communicating, I knew she was different. Her level of concern and care was evident in how she thoughtfully asked questions, took notes, and immediately worked to connect with each of our babies (2 cats and 1 dog) when she came to our home. We have a cat with a health mystery as of now and she was as concerned as we were and offering ideas on what we might try next with our vet. She checked in on several things while we were away just to get more clarity on what we prefer and what the babies would be more comfortable with. I dang near cried from relief with how good it felt to know Terezie was our pet caregiver. We will be requesting her FIRST any time we are away from home from now on. Thank you, Terezie! Pet parents need more people just like you!!

So grateful for Melissa jumping in last minute to help us out. Never have used Rover before so was hesitant to get a stranger to look after our pups, but Melissa was relaxed yet attentive immediately from the moment I met her. The girls weren’t anxious at all upon us getting home and that’s saying a lot. Will definitely be using Melissa again!

Rebooking was a no-brainer because he’s still the best sitter we’ve ever had. Our dogs absolutely love him — the kind of love where they barely notice we’re leaving. He kept us updated with tons of photos and videos, which we really appreciated, and took them on long walks so they could catch up on all their neighborhood “pee-mails.” Always a relief to return to happy pups, even though they’re already plotting our next trip so they can get Jadarius to come back!

Ellie watched my dog and cat for a week at my house. She did a great job! I came home to two very healthy animals. My dog is currently on medication and she was able to give it to him every morning. I was very happy with the daily updates, pictures, and videos of my pets. Lastly, she left the house in the state that she found it. You almost couldn’t tell another person stayed there for a week.

Amanda is fantastic! She sent messages and pictures everyday and we could tell our babies were well cared for and loved! We will be using Amanda every time we go out of town from this point on. Our house was spotless when we got home and she went above and beyond to take care of everything for us. We felt very at ease knowing she was here which made our vacation even more relaxing, and we are so thankful for her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Ridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
