“Cari was great with both of our dogs. She was patient with our larger dog who is very timid. We appreciated her kindness and patience with the dogs. Would recommend and will book again!”

“Ryan was absolutely AMAZING, and I am so happy we found him! He kept us updated the entire time we were away, and allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation knowing our boy was in good hands. Every video he sent us was our dog crying because he was so happy to be around him. We will absolutely be using him for future get aways and cannot rave about him enough. I am so happy we found out go to person for get aways and I know our dog is obsessed with him and would love for him to stay again. I cannot thank you enough for taking great care of Denver while we were away! We will speak to you soon when we get another trip planned and I am sure Denver will be overjoyed to see you again! 🙂”

“So responsive, knew how to work with a dog that is needy! Sent tons of pictures, since I was nervous leaving him. He loved her from the start, she has a great vibe that dogs can read. Very impressed, definitely will hire again!”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“Sara was amazing watching our dog. We were given updates and pictures while we were on our trip to put our minds at ease. Our dog loved her and was well taken care of. She left our house super clean after staying there for a week. It can be hard to put faith and trust into someone to watch your house and pet that you love, but we are so glad we found Sara to take care of our dog. Would highly recommend”

“If we could give more than 5 stars, there’d be no hesitation. She goes “above and beyond” and that alone is such an understatement! Not only does she provide constant updates, pictures, and feedback, but her background knowledge in the veterinary animal-care field is an added bonus that I believe EVERYONE will benefit from. We were skeptical at first with using Rover to watch our 3 dogs, as we’ve never had anyone pet-sit for us before. Not anymore. Bri provided excellent communication skills, displayed confidence and proved it very effectively. Thank you again for everything you did for us while we gone. We truly appreciate you!!!”

“We had a very last minute trip that Nina was amazing in accommodating! She is so sweet and communicative, always making sure we knew our dog was safe and having fun while we were gone. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“I was nervous using a new person from Rover after moving here and losing my old dog sitter. Jessica did great. She kept in touch with me as I am a crazy dog owner who has a boujee princess cockapoo whom I love like my child. Sent me a lot of pics too. Marlee loves her immediately. Will use again ?”

About: I have had animals all my life. (mostly dogs and cats). I will take great care of your pets while you are away. I couldn't imagine a house without fur babies. I love spending time with animals. I am available in the evening during the week and weekends. I am open to whatever your pet needs, from cuddling to playing to feeding etc. I will treat your pet as my own and make them feel as comfortable as possible until you return home
“Barb exceeded every expectation. She was polite, professional, and communicative. I had no concerns that our pet was well taken care of in our absence. I recommend her without hesitation.”

“Alyssa went above and beyond! Alyssa was great and was in contact when our one dog had an upset tummy. Took such great care of the boys and had the house looking better than when we left it. Will definitely book with Alyssa again!”

“Jessica was beyond wonderful with our dogs. She clearly is an animal lover and she treated ours like they were her own. Her communication was absolutely top notch with so many pictures and updates! I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Margaret was a wonderful pet sitter to our dog Lily. She stayed at our home to make sure our anxious doggy stayed in her normal routine. Margaret send me pictures of Lily so I could see that she was happy as can be! She also updated me often so I knew exactly how Lily was doing. I appreciate Margaret taking the time to do these things. Lily and I both agree that Margaret was a great pet sitter and would love to have her back again!”
“Judith made fast friends with our pups and I felt incredibly comfortable with my pups having her as company. She gave them plenty of attention and stuck to their schedule very well. She also provided consistent updates with pictures and videos which helped our peace of mind. The house was left in excellent condition after she left, and she even cleaned a bit. Judith was a fantastic sitting and I would recommend her. We're very thankful.”

“Katelyn has stayed with our English bulldog Ozzy several times and she is fantastic! Our initial meet and greet was very detailed and made me feel very comfortable leaving my dog in her care. She not only takes great care of Ozzy, but she sends lots of updates and makes sure your house is nice & tidy after her stay. Highly recommend Katelyn.”

“We can’t say enough great things about Jason and the wonderful care he provided for our energetic 3 year-old pittie. Jason is extremely professional and responsive, and he took excellent care of Leo (and our home) during his stay. He provided frequent updates and pictures, which we really appreciated. We felt all the more comfortable leaving Leo in Jason’s given his medical training and his obvious love of dogs. We look forward to booking with Jason again soon!”

Jackie was amazing with our dog, Kiwi! She was super flexible with our schedule, even when we changed it three times. Kiwi took to her right away, which was such a relief. Jackie sent us adorable pictures, giving us peace of mind that Kiwi was having a great time. She played with, walked, and fed Kiwi, really going the extra mile. I can't recommend Jackie enough for anyone looking for a dog sitter! We definitely plan to reach out to her for our next pet-sitting needs. Thank you, Jackie!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in East Eden on Rover is $64.38 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Eden walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Eden maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Eden choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Eden. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 87% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
