“Barb communicated daily, sent me pictures of my cats, and asked any questions if she needed. She left the house clean and better than how we left it. Would recommend and will use her again!”

“Alyssa went above and beyond! Alyssa was great and was in contact when our one dog had an upset tummy. Took such great care of the boys and had the house looking better than when we left it. Will definitely book with Alyssa again!”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“This was our first time using a sitter on Rover (and someone who wasn't family) so we were a little nervous with how our dogs would handle it. We've also never had a stranger watch our house before so we were grateful we could trust Shelby right away. As soon as my dogs met Shelby I could tell they would be fine. She has a calming, quiet presence which was perfect for my nervous pitties. I could tell immediately she was a dog lover. She followed instructions exactly and left everything just as she found it. Our shy kitties even came out while she was here so we knew everyone was in good hands. She even stayed longer when our flight was delayed which provided a lot of peace of mind. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Shelby again!”

“Rebecca was wonderful! She was communicative and provided pics of the dogs and asked questions as needed. We will absolutely check her availability next time chewy and Iggy need a sitter!”

“Jackie was amazing with our dog, Kiwi! She was super flexible with our schedule, even when we changed it three times. Kiwi took to her right away, which was such a relief. Jackie sent us adorable pictures, giving us peace of mind that Kiwi was having a great time. She played with, walked, and fed Kiwi, really going the extra mile. I can't recommend Jackie enough for anyone looking for a dog sitter! We definitely plan to reach out to her for our next pet-sitting needs. Thank you, Jackie!!”

“Joslyn took great care of my dog & cat for several days while I was on vacation. She was responsive, caring & responsible. She even won over my reserved dog who has separation anxiety! I highly recommend her!”

“Hannah was great with our Dane. Very thorough and trustworthy. She sent us pictures while we were away and was always quick to respond to messages. We’ll definitely book with Hannah again.”

About: For the past 4 years, I’ve been the trusted human servant of many adorable dogs and cats! I have experience caring for both small and large dogs, including overnight stays where I make sure pets feel safe, loved, entertained, and spoiled with attention while their humans are away. Whether it’s long walks, couch cuddles, playtime, belly rubs, or keeping up with their normal routines, I’m happy to give pets all the love and companionship they deserve. I work a full time hybrid job that allows me to spend half days at home daily, so I have the flexibility to check in on fur friends and your home at any time! I currently work full time but hybrid so I have the flexibility to stay home with furry friends and provide the care they need most! I always prioritize pet safety by maintaining a clean, calm environments, following routines carefully, securing doors and leashes, and giving every pet attentive, loving supervision.
“Amazing with our Alaskan Malamute who tends to have separation anxiety and is very needy/snuggly. She gave her lots of attention and pretty sure our malamute had a better “vacation” than us away from our 2yr old and with all attention on her! Our outdoor cat was also treated wonderfully as well. Highly recommend Olivia.”

“Margaret was a wonderful pet sitter to our dog Lily. She stayed at our home to make sure our anxious doggy stayed in her normal routine. Margaret send me pictures of Lily so I could see that she was happy as can be! She also updated me often so I knew exactly how Lily was doing. I appreciate Margaret taking the time to do these things. Lily and I both agree that Margaret was a great pet sitter and would love to have her back again!”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs ever since I was a little girl, including my special needs diabetic schnauzer, helping with insulin injections and pills. Now I have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own. We love to walk by the outer harbor and play outside when the weather is nice! I’m a 4th year medical student, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I have daily availability and lots of energy for walks and playtime with your fur babies! I have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own. I live in an apartment near the outer harbor. I prefer staying at a client’s house where your pets will be most comfortable! We love to go for walks and I have experience walking up to 3 dogs at once on my waist leash.

“We can’t say enough great things about Jason and the wonderful care he provided for our energetic 3 year-old pittie. Jason is extremely professional and responsive, and he took excellent care of Leo (and our home) during his stay. He provided frequent updates and pictures, which we really appreciated. We felt all the more comfortable leaving Leo in Jason’s given his medical training and his obvious love of dogs. We look forward to booking with Jason again soon!”

“Vanessa is such a kind individual, and our puppy loved her right away. We are so lucky we found her to watch our little fur baby, and our little guy is so lucky to have had such a great play date! Thanks, Vanessa!”

About: Loving and caring for my pets as well as those of others’ has been such a joy in my life and I offer that same love, care and attention to your best friends! Whether you need overnight stays or drop-in services, I’d love to meet your fur babies and keep them happy, healthy and safe until their best friends return. I’m currently retired and am very flexible time-wise. I’m available any day of the week, as overnight stays, or everyday of the week from 7-9ish. I currently have two golden retrievers and a fenced in yard but find that most dogs, and all cats, prefer their own surroundings so am willing and able to come to you home and take care of them.
Clarksburg pet parents share their Rover experiences
I feel Jessica did a good job when she was here, our Dog loved her. I feel there was a misunderstanding about time spent with our dog, that rectified it self in a couple of days. We will ask her again now that we both have an understanding about time spent and not other clients. After that I will leave a more complete review.
