About: I grew up with a dog until I was 18 (Westie - Minnie) and then after college was adopted by a wonderful rescue sphynx (PyeWacket). Over then next 20 or so years I have had 4 sphyx cats (PyeWacket, Forty Two, Tesla and Cairo) and 1 Lyikoi (Cypher). Over the last year my house has had 4 puppies (from 8 weeks), 2 turtles, 2 Guinea pigs, 2 full size dogs 6 cats and multiple fish. I also often house sit for a very smart chihuahua named Mazie. Currently in between jobs so my schedule is fairly open. Like early and late walks due to the heat but open for anything. Open to late night feedings if needed. I treat your animals like they were my own. Love to play, hang out and what ever your little one needs. Need to make sure they know they are loved.
“This is the third time having Jenny watch our dogs and she truly goes above and beyond with them. She sent us great updates with pictures/ videos which makes us feel better about leaving the dogs at home while on vacation. Thank you Jenny!”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.

“Mariah is reliable, quick and easy to communicate with and is amazing as a pet sitter for my cats. Comes twice a day/ have used her many times. You won't be disappointed!!! Book her NOW”

“Olivia was a lifesaver! We made last minute out of town plans and Olivia jumped right in. The dogs loved having her there. I could tell by the daily photos. I swear they were all smiling. I would definitely ask Olivia again.”

“Karen is a very kind dog sitter. She met every one of my expectations and more. I was able to enjoy my vacation because I knew the pups were being well cared for at home. Thank you Karen!”

About: I have had animals all my life. (mostly dogs and cats). I will take great care of your pets while you are away. I couldn't imagine a house without fur babies. I love spending time with animals. I am available in the evening during the week and weekends. I'm a teacher, so once summer begins I have more flexibility and can be available during all times during the week. I am open to whatever your pet needs, from cuddling to playing to feeding etc. I will treat your pet as my own and make them feel as comfortable as possible until you return home
“This is our second time having Barb take care of our cat while we were away. It’s great to be able to go on vacation and know your cat is being well cared for. Our cat only lays on my lap. She won’t go to anyone else even family. Each day I received a picture of her cuddled up on Barb’s lap. It doesn’t get any better than that.”

“Margaret was a lifesaver last weekend when I needed someone to let my pups out on short notice! She was super accommodating and understanding of the chaos that was my weekend and my pups loved her. :-)”

“Trish was great with our puppy. After the initial meet and greet, we were very comfortable having Trish come to our house and care for our puppy. She is clearly an animal lover. Her communication is excellent. She also sent us pictures and an overview of how things went during each visit. We are looking forward to having Trish care for Betty again.”

“Tara was extremely professional and took good care of our babies while we were on vacation. She went above and beyond: she brought our packages upstairs, kept our porch plants watered and our outside bird feeder filled (so our cats would have their "tv") We came home to happy plants, happy cats and happy birds. Thank you again!”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve been actively caring for pets since I was young. I worked for 5 years at the PetSmart PetsHotel while attending college, where I gained hands-on experience with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, personalities, and needs. I’ve also cared for senior dogs, trained puppies, and understand the importance of patience, consistency, safety, and making pets feel comfortable and loved. I’m currently in between jobs and can be available for walks during the typical work week (Monday through Friday, from 9 to 5). I love to get my steps in and typically take my own dog for at least a 60 minute walk everyday. At this time, I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and cat sitting in clients’ homes. I believe pets are most comfortable in their familiar environment, so I focus on keeping their routine consistent while providing attentive, compassionate care. During visits, I make sure pets have fresh food and water, clean litter boxes or potty breaks, exercise and playtime, medication if needed, and plenty of affection and companionship. I also pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and comfort level to help them feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while their owners are away.
About: I have 30 years of pet experience including dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and fish. Everyone forgets about feeding the fish! If watching your pet at your home, I will be sure to make sure that not only your pets is safe, happy and taken care of but that your home is looked after as well. I have been a home owner for 17 years and have great attention to detail. Your pet will be in safe and loving hands. I do provide daily pictures with updates if that is something you would like. I work a 4 day work week and have great availability to spend a lot of time with your pets in order to give them the best care while you are away. I have a fenced in yard so your pet would not need to be able to be walked on a leash but love to go on walks if that is what the prefer. I treat your pets the same way I treated my princess of a dog when she was still with us. They are allowed anywhere you would let them and I respect your rules. If you don't like them on furniture or in beds I comply and follow through with those wishes. I try to keep thier routine the same as you use to keep the pet relaxed and happy.
“Shelby does an amazing job with Hondo! He loves her and really enjoys spending time with her. Such a relief to have a kind, efficient and reliable person helping us with him. Thank you!”

About: I’ve grown up with multiple dogs of all sizes, so I’m very comfortable handling different personalities, energy levels, and needs. I’ve also helped care for friends’ and neighbors’ dogs, giving me experience with different routines and environments. I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely love spending time with dogs, whether that’s going on walks, playing, or just keeping them company. I’ll treat your dog like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away. With a part-time schedule consisting of short shifts a few days a week, I’m able to offer flexible and attentive pet care. I have ample availability to maintain your dog’s routine and provide consistent supervision, exercise, and companionship. I always prioritize a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet in my care. I take the time to follow each owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk routines, and any specific preferences or needs. I make sure dogs are always supervised, kept in secure environments, and never put in situations where they could feel unsafe or overwhelmed. I also have a small fenced grass section outside of my house! In a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and maintain their dog’s normal routine to help them feel as comfortable as possible. I’m attentive to behavior and body language, and I’ll adjust care based on what each dog needs—whether that’s more playtime, exercise, or just a calm presence. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident your dog is safe, happy, and well cared for.
About: I’ve had a family dog forever! Family and friends are always asking to take care of their pets for a quick walk, potty or dinner. I have my own dog that I take care of so I know how much someone can love their dog as if it’s their child. Your pet will be in good hands! I teach so I am off for the summers. I can drop in over the summer and walk your dog if you’re on a day trip hiking or to the beach! Your dog can even play with mine at a dog park if they get along, she’s up to date on shots and is very friendly! My dog is solely on leash unless she’s in a fenced in area, so I have no problem walking your dog on leash. I have taken care of dogs from 10 pounds to 70 pounds and all sorts of energy levels.
About: I’m a caring, reliable pet caretaker with hands-on experience in dog walking, drop-in visits, and a background as a former dog park and boarding employee, where I learned how to safely handle dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. I’m very friendly, patient, and attentive, and I take pride in creating a safe, loving, and fun environment so both pets and their owners feel comfortable and confident. 🐾💛 I’m currently a stay-at-home mom with a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
