“They did the job taken care of my dog. I left my house spotless and my dogs were happy. I will definitely use them again. They are five star in my book. A really nice home and star linens and towels.”

“Sally is wonderful! Our three dogs run to greet her when she comes to watch them for us. She communicates with us everyday we are away and lets us know how our dogs are doing. She sends pictures of our pets daily which helps me not miss them as much when we are away. She graciously checked our mail, brought in packages that were delivered and even took the trash can to the curb for us on trash day. I always use Sally and highly recommend her for dog sitting. She is an angel and will love and care for your pets as if they are her own.”

“Jasmyne was extremely attentive to my pets during her stay! She followed my written wishes and instructions well and left my home in the same condition she found it. My dogs loved her presence while we were away from home and anytime she needed to leave the house she communicated well which I personally enjoyed! I loved not having to worry about my pets while I was in the hospital. Jasmyne also did a complimentary meet and greet before I needed her to stay so my pets would know her and her scent. Overall I’d recommend her to anyone. I can’t wait to use her in the future.”

“Very friendly, professional and punctual. She went above and beyond. Felt at ease knowing she was watching my pups. Will definitely be contacting her again when I travel. My dogs responded to her well. Definitely recommend!”

About: "I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and bathe their pets..." I have a special place in my heart for special needs animals and rescue's. I work from home so I am here all day with my dog Hope. The more the merrier! I have a passion for dog's an enjoy all their quirky personalities. I have a fenced back yard and doggie door I can use if needed so they can roam around. Hope and I go for walks in the mornings and I can accommodate that as well.

“They were fantastic! They took care of our baby who is a special-needs dog and made sure he was taking care of and he fell in love with them! In fact, it seems like he wanted to keep them and not us! Lol thank you so much! That’s what we wanted; someone to love our baby like we love on him.”

“This was our second time using Tracy and he was just as fantastic this time. We had an overnight trip and needed someone to stay in our home with our dog and two cats and he kept us updated and the pets were happy and safe with him there. I would definitely book Tracy again in the future.”

About: Growing up, my father used to breed Mastiffs and Pitt Bulls, so I am no stranger to large breeds. Since I was 16, I have taken care of multiple large families of dogs, horses, cats, etc, so even a farm full of animals is no challenge. I have 2 pups of my own; a pit bull/lab and an aussie/healer who I have had for 6 years. Any amount, any size, any breed; I will take care of yours like they’re my own. I work full time Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:15pm. I am an early riser so I can feed pets before work and will be available for walks and feedings after work as well. I will feed your animals to your specifications. With a fenced in yard, I will ensure I spend time with your pet outdoors playing, doing basic training if necessary, and ensuring physical activity as I do with my dogs. If I am watching them overnight, they will get at least one walk a day, and more if required.
About: I stand out because I treat every pet like family and make sure, they feel safe, loved, and understood while you’re away. I have experience caring for puppies, seniors, and pets with different personalities, including shy or anxious animals. With over 150 volunteer hours at the Humane Society, I’m comfortable with all breeds and sizes, and I know how to read animal behavior, follow routines, and keep pets calm and happy. I’m reliable, patient, and attentive, and I always communicate clearly so you know your pet is in good hands. I’m home consistently throughout the week, and I build in time for walks, feeding, play, and check‑ins without rushing. Since I treat pets like part of my daily life, giving them attention and structure feels natural, not like an extra task. Whether it’s early mornings, afternoons during work breaks, or evenings after work, I make sure each pet gets steady care and plenty of interaction. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow the routine they’re already used to so everything feels familiar and stress‑free. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions the owner leaves. I keep the home tidy, respect their space, and make sure the pet gets steady attention and reassurance while their family is away. My goal is always to keep things calm, consistent, and comfortable so the pet feels secure in their own environment.
“Hannah did a fantastic job with our old girl, Sophie! She was very communicative and sent pics throughout the weekend while we were away! I look forward to having her dog sit again!”

About: I have dogs and cats of my own. I have also worked at a few animal shelters. Our animals can be as important to us as our own children. I understand this so I will happily send updates and pictures! I work full-time, but more then happy to make time for your furbabies! I just need to know when I am needed in adviced, especially for longer stays. I am happy to ensure your pet has outside time, fed, has playtime, and is comfortable while you are away. I will be sure to send updates and photos of our day!
About: I've had a variety of pets over the years! Currently I have three cats, and one snake. I am well versed in caring for dogs, cats, snakes, birds, and isopods. I'm better with animals than I am humans a lot of the time hahaha. I also have two kids, one just left for college, and the other is 13. Currently I have a part-time job as a preschool teacher. Being part time leaves me with a lot of flexibility for care schedules. I will do my best to make sure that I meet all scheduling needs of each client, and openly communicate any conflict in advance. I care for animals however they need. Each animal is an individual and deserves to be treated as such. It's important to me to listen, and follow directions provided, as well as assessing each situation and the animal. My goal is to make sure that I am giving each pet the proper care. That can only happen with open communication with the pet parents.

Kacey was absolutely wonderful! She was timely with her response and very accomodsting in a last minute booking. She sent pics, videos, and went above and beyond without me even asking. I was worried to try this app for the first time bc my Lily means the world to me. But Kacey gave me the best first experience and I would recommend anyone to use her. I will definitely use her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dosterville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dosterville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dosterville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
