“Our girls enjoyed every minute of there extended stay with Lark and her family. From the moment we dropped them off she sent us regular updates and just pictures and videos showing us how they were settling in. As we travel often and they have to be with a sitter at times we are happy to have found Lark. We will definitely use them as our sitters again and refer them to anyone looking for quality pet sitters.”

“Shelby did an excellent job with our pup! She sent plenty of photos to keep up-to-date and was very understanding when we were not able to pick our pup up at the scheduled time. Highly recommend her for future dog sits!”

“Lee Anne D. was so accommodating in taking in my pet at the last minute. She kept us update on how he was adjusting being away from his home and he seemed to have adjusted well with her & her family. I definitely feel comfortable with my pet in her care while I’m away and I’ll definitely use her services for future boarding purposes. Thank you Lee Anne D.”

“Ruby was well taken care of! Kendall and Justyce were even very flexible when I made a booking mistake, and accommodated variable pick up time. I appreciate them taking care of Ruby for a week.”

“Sherry is an amazing caregiver. Our dogs are a bonded pair and she took extra care with that in mind. She kept up to date each day with pictures and how they were doing. Sherry is so loving and sweet and truly cares for her furry guests. Highly recommended Sherry if your looking for a trustworthy and loving pet provider.”

“Taquashia provided excellent service for our French bulldog. He has some restrictions and she was able to meet them while still allowing him to still be a dog. We will definitely book with her again in the future!”

About: I've been caring for animals since I was able to. When my family was away, I cared for five dogs, one cat, two guinea pigs, and a fish. I've also looked after goats and chickens. I have a full-time job, but I will make time for your furry friend. I currently work a full time job so as long as your fur baby will be okay for a few hours during the days/times i am scheduled to work, i will still have plenty of time to dedicate to their care while you are gone. If your dog needs 24 hour care, I will spend the time with them and take pictures to show you how your fur babies are doing. I can also do a meet and greet with you and your fur babies to see if we get along.
“Chandler is wonderful!!! This was our 1st time using her on Rover and she was quick to reply and kept us constantly updated with pictures on our pups. We will definitely be using her again!”

About: Dog sitting is a hobby of mine, I have done this for roughly 8 years for friends & family, excited to extent my services to new clients. Pet care is a regular part of my routine, even with my full-time job from 7 to 4. In the mornings before work, I make sure to feed my pet, refresh their water, and take them out for a walk or bathroom break. After work, I spend quality time with them—whether it’s a longer walk, playtime, or just relaxing together. I’ve built pet care into my daily habits so their needs are always met reliably. In my home, I maintain a safe, pet-friendly environment. I have a fully fenced yard and a medium-sized dog door that allows pets to go outside for bathroom breaks or fresh air as needed, which helps them stay comfortable and active throughout the day. I follow a consistent routine that includes feeding, exercise, playtime, and affection. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always respect their routine and instructions closely. I make sure pets are fed on schedule, get enough exercise, and feel safe in their environment. I pay attention to details like cleaning up after them, refreshing water, and keeping their living space tidy and secure. “Sean and Jacob are the perfect surrogate parents for your dog when you are away. I felt totally comfortable leaving Carson with Sean and Jacob. They gave me daily updates- pictures, text messages etc., letting me know how his mood was, and so forth. I was away for 10 days. I highly recommend them for boarding your dogs! Thank you guys!”

About: My husband and I have both grown up with many different dog breeds. We’ve recently adopted two puppies, and went through the process of training them to where they are now. From potty training from 8 weeks, to leash and recall training we’ve learned the patience and methods to correctly instill these habits into our pets. We’ve helped both friend and families by taking care of their pets when they are away for travel, handling dogs ranging from miniature chihuahuas to Great Danes, and every age group including senior dogs. We’ll make sure your pet gets the best care, wether that be from previous experiences we’ve had or by learning something new so your dog is always happy! We work but have a flexible schedule, we work our schedules around our dogs. Waking up early to allow them to burn energy. We’re both home for lunch to allow our dogs to have a potty break and play, then by 3pm our dogs get the rest of the day to eat and play as they please. Our dogs eat at 6:30am, play till 7:30am, potty break from 11am-1pm, at 3pm dogs are let out to play and dinner at 5pm, bed time is 8pm

About: I've taken care of animals for years. When I was younger I not able to have a dog. So when I could I went to the library and researched breeds of dogs. I was so interested I even went to local dog shows. I love dogs and like cats to so let me take care of your family pet. I have experience with older dogs and dogs with special needs. I am working part-time right now, but I have time to play and take care of your precious dog or cat. Weekends are good for me. Let me know and I will be there to walk, play, and feed your family pets. I have a fenced in yard and 2 friendly dogs of my own to keep them company. If I come to your place I will take care of your dog and make sure to have their best interests at heart. Whether at my house or yours your pet will be taken care of. I'm working full-time but I am free at 6 and beyond if you need me to come walk or drop-in on your pet. I am free every weekend as I only work during the work. I have a big fenced in backyard that my dogs enjoy with plenty of shade and a shed. The animals I petsitt will have plenty of room to run and play. They will also have loads of playtime and enjoyment with my dogs.

About: I own a Belgian Malinios + a Pitbull/Australian Shepherd mix. I will pet sit any fur baby you need me to! Before those pets I had a German Shepherd. I would love to take care of your baby and keep it safe and content while you get away from home wether it be for work, vacation, or medical. I have school, Monday-Thursday from 7:45am-11:45am. Once i come home i am able to come and pet sit. I have routines for my own animals so if you have a routine i would love to know it so i can abide! I have no current job due to personal issues but i have transportation. I drive myself there and i will have plenty time to play, care for, and keep your sweetheart safe. I keep one of my dogs in a large pen outside to keep him off the road. I go out to play with him 2-3 hours every day. With my puppy she stays inside and we play after every long nap she has and makes sure she goes outside with me very 30 minutes to ensure no accidents. If she has one it is immediately cleaned up and sanitized! She also gets enforced nap time in her crate to ensure she gets proper rest when she refuses her sleep times and becomes restless. I do not hit animals i just bring them outside for a bit until their next potty and reward. As for my cats they live inside with a litter box that is emptied out every other day. They get played with after their naps and i make sure no accidents happen on the floor with them.
About: I have had the privilege of always having dogs. For me, there’s no greater joy! I was actually nicknamed at a young age “the dog whisperer” and I promise you it fits! I regard a dog’s care and routine with the utmost respect. I see the value in both physical and mental stimulation for your dog. Whether it’s playing games, learning commands, an agility course, or scent work, there are so many ways to introduce enrichment. Two of my own dogs have disabilities, one who is deaf and has seizures and one who had a leg amputated due to cancer (but he’s in remission and he’s loving life as a tripod!). So I am very familiar and comfortable with administering medication, following a specific care routine, and most importantly, giving all the belly rubs and kisses needed! I want your dog to feel secure with me and want me around, so I’m happy to do a meet and greet to get our journey together started! I work from home during the week and I’m off on weekends. I am usually available even with little notice. I am happy to provide whatever help you need that is best for your dog. Walks, playing, snuggles, and anything else needed! I take safety very seriously! I do not allow on leash greetings (unless you let me know who your pup’s neighborhood friends are and then I’m happy to let them say hi). I carry pet corrector in case an off leash dog approaches. I am very observant to dog behaviors and body language and I will quickly become in tune with your dog. I know how stressful it can be trusting someone with your dog so I’m happy to provide as many updates and photos as you like. I have a 2 acre fenced in yard (8’ high fence) that is secure and safe. The perfect space for playing, sniffs, or just being lazy! I have 3 friendly Great Danes that love animals! They are used to having their furry friends come over and play.
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Dosterville
Avery was absolutely wonderful with Yuki! She took care of Yuki while I was away on vacation, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was so caring, attentive, and loving toward Yuki. Knowing that Yuki was in such good hands gave me peace of mind and allowed me to truly enjoy my vacation without worrying. Thank you so much, Avery, for taking such wonderful care of Yuki. I truly appreciate everything you did and would happily recommend you to anyone looking for a loving and reliable dog sitter!

Missy and John are amazing! They have a great set up for dog daycare and boarding. River had so much fun running around in the yard and making new friends. Missy texted me everyday with pictures and videos, and they are accommodating to all dogs needs. My pup will definitely be visiting them again 😁

Christina and Austin took exceptional care of our dogs, Nelson and Wendy. Nelson is an anxious boy who needs a calm, patient environment, and they handled him with so much understanding and gentleness. Wendy, our goofy girl, adored them too. They sent tons of photos and reassuring updates throughout the stay, which made us feel completely at ease. It was clear our dogs were safe, loved, and genuinely happy in their home. We’re so grateful for the care they provided. We would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for sitters who truly go above and beyond.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Dosterville home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Dosterville.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Dosterville sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
