“McKenna was the first dog sitter we’ve ever hired and she provided a nice experience. She was respectful of our home and extremely patient with both of our pups and navigated this new situation for our dogs perfectly. She had excellent communication skills, always reached out with questions and responded promptly to any questions that I had. She provided pics and updates along the way. I would book her again for our pups.”

“Stacy did a great job taking care of our cat, Artemis. She provided many photos of him and we could tell he was being well taken care of - even when we came back, I think he missed her! We will definitely rebook if we need a cat sitter again.”
About: I've been an animal lover my whole life. I have taken care of all types of animals. Friends and neighbors have always trusted me to take care of their animals, starting at a young age. I have taken in strays, rescued several dogs from shelters. I also volunteered for an animal rescue for several years and have fostered animals from time to time. I am the person who finds the pets at an event and stays with them the whole time. I have experience with dogs, cats including puppies and kittens, seniors, and animals with medical needs. I currently work only about 5-8 hours a week and have plenty of time to cuddle and walk your pets. Spending time with animals is my favorite thing to do. I will walk your dog twice a day, and can also take your pets on drives (with my pet seatbelt and/or car seat) if that's something you would like. Daily belly rubs are always included :) I have a fenced back yard. Pets are welcome to all areas of my home and always allowed on the couches and bed. I also have a comfortable dog car seat for dogs under 50 lbs as well as a collar/harness seatbelt restraint for larger dogs. I will take up to 3 dogs at a time, if your dog loves to be social (My home is two-story, with multiple dog gates should your dog need a break also). If your dog prefers to be the only animal around, please let me know and I'll let you know if I can arrange that.
About: I’ve been dog sitting for different families for about two years and have really enjoyed it. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable when their owners are away, so I do my best to keep their routines consistent and give them plenty of attention, care, and affection. Whether it’s feeding, walking, playing, cleaning up after them, or just spending time with them, I treat every dog as if they were my own. Families have trusted me to care for their dogs, and I take that responsibility seriously. I do work part time, I work full 8 hour days on Thursdays and sometimes Fridays. The other days I work 5-6 hours. I’m usually off around 4:30 or 5 but my start times vary. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal as possible. I follow all instructions provided by the owner, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and any special care requirements. I make sure pets have plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship while also respecting the client’s home and keeping it clean and secure. My goal is for both pets and owners to feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while they’re apart
“Jocelyn did an excellent job taking care of my kitties! She was very thorough and provided regular updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. She even managed to give them their meds, which can be tricky. Highly recommend her for anyone looking for reliable and attentive pet care!”

About: I treat every pet like they’re my own and focus on creating a calm, safe environment. I’m patient, attentive to routines, and comfortable caring for puppies, senior dogs, and pets who need extra reassurance. I communicate clearly with owners and make sure pets get plenty of love, exercise, and consistency while you’re away. I am also able to take care of farm animals. I have experience with horses, goats and chickens. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I plan my schedule around feedings, walks, playtime, and check-ins so each pet gets consistent attention. I’m reliable with routines and enjoy making pets a regular, important part of my day. I provide a safe, loving environment whether I’m in your home or mine. Pets get plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and rest according to their routines. I follow any instructions carefully, keep spaces clean, and make sure every pet feels comfortable, happy, and cared for while you’re away.
“Emma did a great job with our pets. Our two dogs have some special needs and Emma did a great job accommodating us! Rocket needs to be carried and Quill needs a little patience as he’s slow with his commands (He’s a nervous guy). She demonstrated care, attentiveness, and was prompt. As a bonus she gave out cats some love while I was out. I’ll gladly trust my pets to her again. Thanks Emma!”

About: I don't have any dogs but I do have 1 cat who is 17 and still going! Evry time we go somewhere that there are dogs, I love to stop to pet them. I've had dogs growing up but haven't had any of my own for a while. I'm new to rover and looking for some dog walking time now that I am retired. I'm retired so generally I am available for dog walks and short visits throughout the day. Looking forward to meeting some great family members! My cat isn't too demanding with his age, but I do clean his box every morning and feed him small portions throughout the day. He's not too active so I don't get to play with him as much as I would like
“Theresa did an awesome job caring for my dogs and cat while I was away. My dogs and cat were well cared for and I appreciated the updates with pictures on how things were going. I definitely will have Theresa care for my pets again. She is wonderful! 🙌🙌🙌”

“Karli did an awesome job! Came on time for each drop-in, and gave some love to the one cat that would come out! She completed the tasks and more! Would highly recommend!”
“Karalynn did a great job, was prompt with her visits and made sure my kitties were fed, watered, and their litter boxes were clean. I have feral kitties so they were hiding during her visits. She sent photos after each visit which I really appreciated. She also quickly responded to any text I sent her about my kitties during my trip away, loved that. I felt they were in very good hands while I was gone. I would work with her again.”

“Crista is a gem! We had her look after our cat, Ghost, who is very shy and reluctant to engage people other than his family. Crista took the time to get to know him as if he was her own and brought him out of his shell which is rare. Crista’s daily check ins with us and attention to detail made our time away more relaxing. I will definitely be reaching out to Crista again if we need a cat sitter!!”

“Absolutely amazing! She pampered our cats, gave us lots of updates throughout our trip, and expertly administered the food and medication they need. Our cats are happy and so are we.”

“I am very glad we booked Tanaisa to check in on our cats while we were out of town. She was dependable, communicative, and attentive. You can tell she is an animal lover based in the feedback and photos she provided me with daily. We will absolutely book with her again next time we need help with our pets.”

About: Hi there! My name is Maya, and caring for animals has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve fostered everything from tiny puppies to sweet senior dogs, each with their own personalities, quirks, and needs. I’ve also raised two litters of kittens, helping them grow into confident, healthy little explorers. I regularly dog sit for my grandma and for close family friends whenever they’re out of town, so I’m very comfortable with different routines, temperaments, and care instructions. Whether it’s energetic playtime, slow strolls, medication reminders, or just keeping a nervous pet company, I’m happy to adapt to whatever your animal needs. Most importantly, I truly love every animal I meet. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. If you choose me, I’ll treat your pet like one of my own. With patience, affection, and attention to detail. I’m excited to meet your furry family member and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I am on summer break as I am attending Portland State University for a civil engineering degree. My schedule is fully open and ready for whatever you may need! I will give love and attention to your fur baby on each of my check-ins and walks. Let me know what you would expect from me and I will most definitely make it happen!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dollar Corner. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
