About: I'm a very responsible pet parent to my own senior Maltese. I can provide medication as necessary since I'm aware of the medical needs of my own. Not working at the moment and want to spend time with my dog and other babies as much as I am able to. I would treat your dogs as much as I care for my own. I have a fenced yard and parks in the area. This is a very dog friendly community. Regular potty breaks and walks are the norm for my house.

She was amazing to Bentley! He enjoyed his time there, she was very accommodating and comforting to him as he struggles with meeting new people at times. Giezell also gave me many updates and videos as Bentley was playing and having fun with the other dogs. She is 100% my go to sitter now!

My dog spent the day at Lupe’s today and left happy. Lupe had great hospitality. She gave me a little tour of where my dog would be spending his time and asked questions about his needs/personality when I dropped him off. The indoor area is very specious and has a gate to separate some dogs from others based on temperament. My dog was showing signs of possessiveness over his toy so she was proactive about giving him his own space away from the other dogs. She said when the dogs weren’t outside playing he chose to spend his time right next to her while she worked. Lupe sent pictures and gave a recap of how he played well outside with other dogs and was fed separately.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of love, patience, and personalized care I give every dog as if they were my own. I understand that every pup has a unique personality, routine, and comfort level, so I take the time to make sure they feel safe, happy, and at home while you’re away. I have experience caring for puppies who need extra attention, structure, potty training support, and plenty of playtime, as well as senior dogs who require a calmer environment, medication administration, slower walks, and gentle care. I’m attentive to body language, behavior, and individual needs, which helps dogs quickly build trust and feel comfortable with me. Whether your dog is energetic and playful, shy and anxious, or older and needing extra patience, I provide reliable supervision, lots of affection, consistent communication, and a clean, stress-free environment. My goal is not just to “watch” your pet it’s to give them a positive experience where they feel loved, secure, and excited to come back. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work part-time and mainly from home, which allows me to give dogs plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. I’m able to maintain a flexible schedule for walks, potty breaks, feeding times, playtime, and cuddle time, while also making sure each pet sticks to their normal routine as closely as possible. Since I’m home most of the time, pets are rarely left alone for long periods, which helps them feel comfortable, safe, and less anxious while their owners are away. I truly enjoy having animals around and make their care a priority in my everyday life, giving them lots of love, patience, and one on one attention. I provide a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment where dogs are treated like part of the family. Since I work part-time and mainly from home, I’m able to give pets plenty of supervision, attention, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Dogs staying in my home are welcome to roam freely and relax comfortably in the house rather than being confined, helping them feel more at ease and at home during their stay. I can also crate dogs if requested by the owner or if it’s part of the dog’s normal routine for sleeping, feeding, or downtime. I always prioritize safety by carefully monitoring interactions, maintaining a calm environment, and following each dog’s specific care instructions, routines, dietary needs, and comfort levels. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, loved, stress free, and well cared for while giving owners peace of mind knowing their dog is in good hands.

My dogs have stayed here several times and they look forward to spending time with Shawna and her husband. My three year old lab gets so excited when we pull up in front of the house. I feel lucky to have a place my dogs can go and feel safe and comfortable when they can't be with me.

Connie has taken care of my dog Moose on a weekly basis for over 2 years now and she has been amazing! Super reliable, excellent communication, and I always feel so reassured that my dog is in the best possible hands while I’m away. Moose can be anxious and standoffish with strangers but Connie and her family have been like his second family and he is always so excited to see them.

By the time I got there she was right at home and ready to play! We'd definitely love to book again next time!

About: Hello, my name is Esmerilda. I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology and am in search of dog walking, training, bathing, and pet sitting positions to help me pay off student loans. Aspiring veterinarians usually know they have a special gift with animals as a child, as I discovered at the age of 7. Thus, I have been involved in the husbandry of my own dogs, cats, and exotic animals the majority of my life! Due to my extensive experience as a lab animal technician, kennel attendant, and shelter volunteer, I have 6 years of professional experience in animal husbandry. During the year of the notorious Camp Fire, I worked as a veterinary assistant at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital to 4th year veterinary students with disabilities during their clinical year. As their "right hand woman", I provided various accommodations for physical and intellectual limitations in order to facilitate their success. I was directly involved with the treatment of animal patients in ophthalmology, cardiology, community practice, community surgery, companion avian and pet exotics, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, shelter medicine & surgery, anesthesia, behavior, and nutrition. For several years, I also gained technical skills as a veterinary assistant in small veterinary hospitals and for the nonprofit Mercer Clinic for the Pets of the Homeless. Thus, I am exceptionally knowledgeable in the field of veterinary medicine. At the client's request, I also offer one on one obedience training on walks, baths, nail trimming, syringe feeding, and transportation to veterinary appointments for an additional charge (not listed). I have committed my 'gap year' before veterinary school to providing my sevices on Rover- ensuring your pet receives the highest quality of care and love while you are away. Please do not hesitate in contacting me so I may meet my new fur (or scaled or feathered) buddy. Thank you for your time and consideration :) ANIMALS ARE MY LIFE. NO, SERIOUSLY! I work full time an animal caretaker unless my calendar is marked as I'm unavailable because I scheduled a vacation to combat caretaker fatigue, I am available, 24 (like Kobe) hours , 7 days a week , rain and shine ! 🌞 I am an observant, vigilant pet owner myself and strive to go above and beyond in maintaining a secure and clean environment for your animal(s) as well. I have experience adhering to strict animal protocols within both veterinary hospital and laboratory settings, thus applying these skills as your animal caretake/technician within your home. Please notify me if your pet is an escape artist, uses a crate, what your boundaries are (i.e. furniture or specific areas off-limits), if your pet uses an e-collar or GPS collar, and the like! As always, your dog gets my full attention—walks are always private and limited to dogs from the same household.

About: Love tiny fur babies, but I have sat for young and adult dogs for the past 6 years. I bring nearly 20 years of experience in fast-paced, people-centric industries — which means I’m calm under pressure, communicative, and deeply attuned to individual needs (human or furry). I treat every pet like they’re my own, prioritizing safety, comfort, and play. I have experience caring for senior dogs, administering meds, and managing multi-pet households. I’m also great with shy or anxious pets — I take the time to build trust and follow your routines to the letter. Whether it’s belly rubs, structured walks, or enrichment activities, your pet gets personalized care and my full attention. Pet care is just part of our life. My partner and I live together, and he’s a huge dog lover — he had a German Shepherd for almost 11 years, so caring for animals is second nature to both of us. We keep a calm, pet-friendly home and love having furry company around. Walks, belly rubs, playtime, meds if needed — it’s all built into our day. Whether it’s your pup’s first visit or their tenth, they’ll get plenty of attention and affection from both of us. Whether I’m welcoming your pet into my home or caring for them in theirs, I keep things calm, safe, and consistent. I follow your routines closely — feeding, walks, meds, playtime — because I know how much pets thrive on familiarity. At my place, I make sure they have a comfy space to relax, access to fresh water, and all the love and attention they’re used to getting from you. I keep communication open with updates, photos, and little check-ins so you never have to wonder how things are going. Whether it’s a quick walk or a weekend stay, your pet’s well-being is always the priority.

About: Besides caring for my own dog for nearly 13 years, including nearly a year of hospice care, I also have experience volunteering at animal sanctuaries and cat-sitting for roommates and neighbors. I consider companion animals to be family members, and the care I provide reflects that belief. I work from home, and my schedule is flexible, so I’m easily able to accommodate anything an animal in my care needs. I can provide multiple walks, feedings, and potty breaks a day, whether at your house or mine. Because I work remotely, I’m able to keep your dog or cat company all day. I have a fenced backyard, though it’s small, and I live near a dog park. I have a small crate and a larger soft-sided kennel that can be used if that’s something that makes your dog feel more comfortable; otherwise, pets are free to roam and are welcomed on furniture. I have steps to help smaller or senior dogs get on the couch, and there’s a dog bed in every room of my house. I only board for one client at a time, so your dog(s) will have my full attention while you're away, and you'll never have to worry about interactions with other pets. In addition to the Rover Guarantee, I'm also privately insured as a pet-sitter through PCI, so your pets are well-covered.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Dixon commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 1,188 sitters in Dixon, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
