About: I have hands-on experience caring for pets of all kinds, including my Yorkie puppy and several senior cats. I provide daily attention, training, exercise, and care for medical or behavioral needs. I’m comfortable with skittish, anxious, or energetic pets, and I treat every animal with patience, love, and consistency. Pets aren’t just animals to me—they’re family, and I’m committed to keeping them happy, healthy, and safe. Pet care fits easily into my daily and weekly routine. I am currently not working, so I have a flexible schedule and can provide consistent care, playtime, and attention throughout the day. My main commitments are taking my daughter to and from school, appointments, and interviews, but I plan my time carefully to ensure pets always receive the care and supervision they need. I enjoy creating a reliable, loving routine for every animal I care for. I care for pets with attention, consistency, and compassion, whether in my home or the client’s home. I provide feeding, exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation tailored to each pet’s needs. For pets with medical or behavioral needs, I follow specific instructions carefully, administer medications if required, and monitor their health and well-being closely. I ensure their environment is safe, clean, and comfortable, and I give them plenty of love and attention so they feel secure and happy while in my care.

About: I’ve recently been able to manage 4 dogs who had to be separated by twos in separate rooms. This was probably one of my most difficult tasks to handle, it was 2 frenchies and then my regular dogs I dog sit for. I ran into a few problems, throwing up in the house, not eating, struggling to separate them at times and not being able to get them into their crates. But eventually I was able to manage a certain style to it. So currently I am enrolled fully at Embry Riddle as a freshman. I am also in AFROTC. But I can be flexible with my schedule in mornings, after 9:15. My Thursdays are open because I have no classes. I am not available mid-day throughout the week unless it’s Thursday. Wednesday will probably be a no go, unless it’s in the morning, 9:15-11 or late afternoon, 7-9:30. Weekends just let me know in advanced and we can communicate on that, just so I don’t plan to go anywhere. Since I am in college pets can’t be at my dorm at all. Usually in the clients home it depends on their needs for the pets. Does the pet need walks, do I need to let the dog out to go to the bathroom, is the pet on a specific food schedule/diet, or does the pet just need love when the owner is at work for long periods at a time?

“Top notch Dog Sitter!! I highly recommend Ashleigh!!! I have so many good things to say about her service. She went above and beyond. Ashleigh was so attentive to my dog. She was challenged with a senior dog with high separation anxiety. I asked if she’d stay home with my dog more than be away. She spent long days and evenings with my girl just like I asked. She put the dog food, meds and treats in refridge after she noticed a line of ants on my counters. Ashleigh was so kind to voluntarily wash the bedsheets and put new ones on for me. That saved a lot of time for me after a long flight I can’t keep up with all the extras she did for me and my dog. Oh and she’s so fun to talk to as well. I was so pleased she was at a mature age rather than too young to know how to run a household. I feel my dog was in safe hands with Ashleigh and I’m already hiring her for 3 weeks from now for more overnights! She’s trustworthy, reliable and responds timely. Plus she just moved to Prescott, still unpacking and accepted my request on a last minute request. Thank you, Ashleigh for a job well done! Jingles thanks you! We have more trips where we will definitely hire Ashleigh. I just hope she isn’t booked”

About: About Me I’ve grown up around animals my whole life, including dogs, cats, and more, and I’ve always loved how much joy and personality they bring to our lives. I’m excited to provide a safe, active, and comfortable environment where your dog can feel right at home while you’re away. I’m an active person who loves getting outside for runs, hikes, and exploring local trails, so I’m happy to make exercise and outdoor time part of your dog’s routine. I’ll tailor our walks and activities to your dog’s age, energy level, and individual needs. One Dog at a Time I provide personalized care by boarding and caring for one dog at a time. This allows me to give your dog plenty of attention and keep their routine as consistent and comfortable as possible. During a typical boarding stay, I plan to let your dog outside every 3–4 hours. Mornings will start with a brisk walk or run, with plenty of time for bathroom breaks and sniffing around. Since I live only about 10 minutes from work, I’m also able to come home during the day for a 30-minute midday walk and some quality time together. After dinner, we’ll take another walk to get some fresh air and wind down for the evening. My goal is for every dog in my care to get plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and downtime while following the routine their owner has established. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your dog, learn about their personality and routine, and make sure they have a fun, safe, and comfortable stay! I run every morning and like to go for longer walks in the afternoon. On the weekends we can visit dog parks, go for hikes, and be outdoors. Also, completely fine with a 30 minute walk and being a couch potato the rest of the day. I work but am able to keep the time away to less than 4 hours. I started to foster dogs from the local animal shelter. Based on the friendliness of the dog I will update my availability. I have always thought of pets as members of the family and care for them with love and respect.

About: I’ve always had a big love for dogs and grew up with them my whole life. I have two dogs of my own and have always loved dog sitting for friends and family. I’m caring, patient, and love making sure every dog feels safe, happy, and loved. I’d love to spend more time doing what I love while gaining experience working with animals. I have taken care of senior dogs and puppies! I currently have an open schedule, so I have plenty of flexibility to give your pup lots of attention, playtime, walks, and care. I’m available for sitting and drop ins throughout the week and on weekends. I have two friendly dogs at home but they are not as friendly with other dogs, so I provide care in the client’s home rather than boarding. I’m attentive to each dog’s routine and needs and will make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: I've been caring for animals for most of my life, beginning with a family pack of German Shepherd siblings (see photo). Over the years, I've worked with dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, temperaments and personalities—including seniors, sensitive animals, pets with anxiety or special needs, and some less-typical companions. My approach is attentive and individualized. I respect the routines and training you've established while tuning in to your animal's behavior, body language and energy—learning what helps them feel safe, understood and genuinely cared for while you're away. If I do my job right, within the first few hours they're settling back into their normal beat. And when you come home, they may be delightfully underwhelmed by your return! Animal communication is a core interest in my life and work, and I'm currently completing additional training in small-animal massage and bodywork. I also offer energy work. These aren't requirements for good pet sitting, of course, but they inform my dedication to an animal's comfort and care. I'm primarily between Sedona, AZ and Southern Maine. I travel for select longer-term destination sits. My flexible schedule allows me to spend meaningful time at home with the animals—getting to know them and loving them up—rather than constantly coming and going. At heart, I'm an animal advocate. Everything I do is rooted in creating greater safety, trust and understanding between animals and the people who love them. I believe they deserve partners and allies who are present, aware, accepting and loving. I'm happy to provide references from private clients and would love to connect to see if we're a good fit. My schedule is flexible. I generally work at “home” so am able to spend a lot of time with your pet, letting them know that you’ve made sure they are taken care of after the suitcases are out the door. If we're newly connecting, I like to start with a call or video chat and then a home visit, to make sure we are a good fit. And chat about your pet's needs, preferences and schedule.

We took a last minute trip over the holidays and Kitty was more than flexible to accommodate us and stay with the boys at the house. Chip and Jordy had a great time with her and were really mellow when we returned home. We always are relaxed on our trips when we know Kitty is taking care of them!

FAQs for House Sitting - Dewey-Humboldt

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dewey-Humboldt walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dewey-Humboldt maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dewey-Humboldt choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
