“Paula was a lifesaver! We were anxious about leaving our 7mo puppy for our 9 day vacation. Paula was so responsive (tolerating my anxiety), sending photos and videos. Our boy was clearly well cared for and somehow came back a better listener! He was in constant company and I think he had a great time.”

“Heather & her family were a great match for Mía. From the Meet & Greet, to drop off, asking how to best care for her, and pick up…they were responsive, informative, and caring. Thank you!”

“Our pups were very happy to be staying with Katina. It was nice not to worry about leaving them behind while we were on vacation. We will definitely entrust Katina with our pups again! 😊”

“Linkin had a wonderful time with Julie and her family! I could not have asked for a better communicator, and “fill in” dog mom while I was away! Linkin was well taken care of and sooo happy! Thank you for your help!”

“Caroline was great with our dog, and was a really nice person to meet and talk to. I can highly recommend Caroline to anyone looking for someone to care for their pet.”

“Laura is awesome. She is flexible and is very accommodating to your schedule for pick up/drop off times. She sent lots of pictures of our pups playing throughout the day. I’m rebooking every time with her!!”

“Ashley watched my Lexie, 5 and a half year old black lab, for 6 days. She provided me daily updates and photos of Lexi's activities to keep me informed that she was doing well. I highly recommend Ashley as a resource to care for your dog as well.”

“Micki and Skye enjoyed the weekend with Tamara and her family. They even gave Skye a little birthday party for her second birthday. We know the pups enjoyed their stay because they slept the entire day after we picked the up. It was a pleasant experience for all of us. We would trust them with our pups again.”

“Yana is amazing! She took such great care of my dog and sent daily pictures and updates which gave me peace of mind that he was happy and healthy while I was away. Highly recommend her!”

“Tiffanie was beyond amazing! Her kindness and love of animals was evident during our first "meet and greet." Leaving my anxious GSD was a concern, but Tiffanie's confident and compassionate manner easily quelled any fears. Tiffanie updated me daily with pics and provided daily walks in the park with my fur baby! Most noteworthy, however, was my pooch had reemerging symptoms appear of a recent medical condition and Tiffanie handled it compassionately and without complaint! She was a true blessing to both me and my pooch! I HIGHLY recommend her.”

“Emil was so sweet with my little pup and he came back super happy! He was very thorough with making sure he did everything he needed and let him sniff around all the time. A great place to send my little guy.”

About: I’ve owned both dogs and cats and have cared for several family members’ pets for over 20 years! I’m a huge animal lover and miss having one of my own. I’m a stay-at-home-mom of 3 kids so I have plenty of time to walk and play! My schedule is extremely flexible and I’m available on weekends. I have an unfenced yard and live 20 feet from the Crozet trail system, right next to Claudius Crozet Park. We don’t have any pets of our own but my three kids (ages 4, 5 & 6) are very active and will play all day with your pet. My sister is a vet at Dominion Animal Hospital so I have immediate access to professional help if needed!
About: I’ve taken care of pretty much all kinds of animals in my life! Dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, chickens… I’m a current dog mom to 4 pups. One of which is a cancer dog, so I’m very familiar with giving medication if need be. We also have a 1 year old puppy + are very refreshed on puppy life! I love any + all animals— they’re my “people”. I currently work mornings- 2pm ish Monday Tuesday and Friday so can come for afternoon walks/visits! I’m available Monday thru Friday. Available some weekends with prior notice if is suits. I have plenty of dog leash walking experience + can keep my eye on your pups! We love to host dogs in our home as it gives us the little bit of love to go around without the need of getting more of our own.
“Ruby was excited and enjoyed staying with Madison. She did not appear to be at all anxious when we dropped her off, or when we picked her up. Often Ruby is initially uncomfortable and worried during her first stay, but that was not the case. We will definitely schedule her stay with Madison in the future!”

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Nadia! 😊 Nadia took care of my sweet pup for several days while I was away, and I couldn’t have asked for a more loving, caring, and thoughtful person to look after her! I absolutely loved receiving pictures and updates every day. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing my girl was happy, safe, and in such wonderful hands. Nadia went above and beyond to make sure she was well-fed, spoiled with yummy treats, and had plenty of playtime to keep her mentally and physically stimulated. Her home was absolutely perfect, with plenty of space for my pup to relax, stretch her legs, get comfortable, and, of course, keep a watchful eye on all the squirrels outside! Haha. 🐿️ What meant the most to me was knowing that my pup wasn’t just being watched, she was genuinely being cared for and loved. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be able to enjoy time away without worrying about your furry best friend. If I could give Nadia 100 stars, I would in a heartbeat! Unfortunately, I’m limited to just 5/5! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you SO much, Nadia, for opening your home and heart to my girl and treating her like one of your own. Your kindness, compassion, and genuine love for animals truly shine through. I’m beyond grateful, and I couldn’t recommend you more highly! You’re the absolute best! ❤️🐾

Nadia was fantastic with our pup. Highly recommend, and would book again! Due to a family emergency, we had need for a last-minute boarding and our usual sitters were booked. Nadia agreed to take on our boy with zero knowledge of him. She was extremely detailed and thoughtful in her notes and questions prior to drop-off, kept in constant contact with updates while we were away, and took fantastic care of our pup. 10/10! Nadia does a fantastic job, going above and beyond to make sure our guy was loved and cared for.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Damon home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Damon.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Damon sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
