“Jessalynn worked miracles with our grumpy Dobby! He calm and quiet presence led to quick acceptance. She even had to deal with meds and did so very successfully. Communication was excellent and we appreciated the pictures and videos. We will definitely be calling her again!”

“Katherine was fantastic with our three needy, overly affectionate and quirky golden retrievers. We missed our dogs terribly but with the photos and videos she sent we could clearly tell they were getting all the love and attention they thrive upon. It was overwhelmingly evident upon our return home by how relaxed and content they were. We’re so happy we found Katherine!”

About: After the heartbreaking loss of my own beloved dog Louie, I've found a renewed sense of purpose in caring for pets. I know firsthand the deep bond we share with our furry companions, and I’m committed to providing the same love and attention that I gave to my own. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or simply being there for comfort, I treat every pet as if they were my own, offering them a warm and caring environment in your temporary absence. I have been caring for animals from a very young age and truly give my all to make sure pets and their parents feel at ease while in my care. Working from home gives me the perfect opportunity to care for pets while their owners are away. My flexible schedule allows me to provide your furry friends with consistent attention, regular walks, and plenty of playtime throughout the day. Whether it’s a quick drop-in visit or extended care, I can easily adapt to meet your pet's needs, ensuring they feel loved and secure. I take pride in providing a safe, loving environment for your pets, whether in my home or yours. When caring for pets in my home, I ensure a secure, pet-friendly space with plenty of room to play, rest, and feel at ease. I treat every pet like family, with constant supervision, gentle care, and lots of affection. When caring for pets in your home, I prioritize trust and reliability. I maintain the same routines and environments your pet is accustomed to, reducing stress and promoting comfort. Safety is always my top priority—I follow any special instructions you provide and keep you updated throughout their stay. You can trust that your pet is in caring and capable hands, and your home is respected and well-maintained.
“Ash was super responsive and helpful. Provided updates daily about how my pups were doing. Helped give medication to one of our dogs. Our dogs seemed really happy when we returned.”

“We used Robert for the 2nd time to house and dog sit our German Shepherd. Robert provided prompt updates and was always quick to respond. He provides unparalleled care and treats our home as if it was his own; the neatest houseguest I’ve ever had! Robert was extremely reliable in following instructions for our dog’s care and medications. He’s an experienced handler of dogs and treats our dog as if it were his own. Quite simply the best anyone could ask for! I look forward to using Robert again knowing that everything will be professionally attended to and our dog will be thoroughly entertained and well taken care of. He provides the utmost piece of mind while we’re away.”

“Annette was amazing! It was obvious that she took good care of my pup! She took great photos and snuggled with him! He is an anxious pup but he loved her from the start. Would highly recommend and will definitely be reaching out for her to watch him again!”

“Danielle stayed in my home for 5 days with my 2 dogs and 2 cats. She took great care of them- one of my dogs needed unexpected antibiotics which she just worked into their routine with ease. “Sara did a fantastic job watching our 11 year old Golden Retriever for a week at our home. Our dog loved Sara. Sara sent pictures every day of Lady to help my mind about our fur-baby. She was on time. I highly recommend Sara for your fur-babies care!!!”

“Lauren did a great job taking care of Stitch and Blu! She was a great communicator and kept me updated. I would definitely recommend Lauren and would be happy to have her take care of Stitch and Blu again! 🐾💕”

“Robert was wonderful! He was on time, very kind and took special care with our elderly and blind dachshund. She needs extra attention on walks and outside around our pool, he was very patient and understanding with this. He provided photos and detailed updates on how she was doing. Our house was spotless and our dog was calm and content when we arrived back home. We will be booking Rob for future dates.”

“Amy was super attentive and caring towards our sweet boy. Great communicator as well as fantastic at sending a few photos and updates while we were gone…that gave us peace of mind knowing he was in good hands and we could fully enjoy our time away. We fully trust her and will book again in the future. Thank you so much, Amy!”
“Clara was absolutely amazing! Our very shy dog warmed up to her much more quickly than he has other new folks. Our house was cleaner when we returned than it was when we left! Clara communicated with us a few times per day and sent photos. She even brought her own treats for our babies. Will 100% use her again!”

“Laura H. helped take care of Tito for 3 days, and we are very happy with her service. Tito was very happy when we returned home, which gave us great peace of mind. Laura was reliable, caring, and took excellent care of him. We highly recommend her and would gladly use her services again.”

“Emily is a wonderful sitter! We have used her a few times now and she will absolutely be our go to sitter from now on (after using a few different ones that do not compare to her). Emily is kind, communicative and followed through on what we asked of her. She walked our pup and gave her lots of snuggles. It was obviously that our dog loved her and we are so appreciative of her taking such good care of her while we were gone. ❤️”

This was my 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier's first time staying with a sitter for 4 nights. Kristen had a calming presence when she met Bella . Bella was immediately comfortable and friendly with her. Bella has some special needs that Kristen felt very comfortable handling, so all went well while I was away. I will definitely book with Kristen again when I have to be away from home, knowing my dog will be in good hands and well-cared for while Im gone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Continental walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Continental maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Continental choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
