“We had a great experience with Mattie! She took wonderful care of Odie while we were away and Odie really enjoyed playing with Mattie's dog as well. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable, and kind sitter :-)”

“Luna had a great time at Terry’s with his other pups. It was nice to know she was in good hands and good company while we were out town. I will gladly have Terry watch her again next time we need someone!”

“I was really impressed with the way Taylor made arrangements so quickly after another sitter canceled a week before. The dogs were well taken care of, cage free, fenced in back yard, and they even had a playmate. Several pictures daily. I felt really comfortable. I was starting to Miss them, The last day. Very good communication, compassion and care all around.”

“Armani is an amazing pet sitter. She looked after pepper for a weekend and it was the most stress free pet sitting experience. She was very good at communicating and sent lots of pictures. She even bought pepper toys and treats. Amazing experience. Definitely gonna rebook!!!”
“This was our first experience with the Rover app and Shannon taking care of Maggie. It could not have been a better experience! Shannon was great with communication and very timely. We had boarding arrangements elsewhere and they canceled at the last minute. Shannon was quick to reply to my inquiry and helped me navigate the Rover app. The "Meet & Greet" went very well with Maggie meeting Shannon's personal K-9 companions. Right from the start, we were very comfortable and confident that Shannon would take great care of Maggie. She was very personable and kept us informed during our travels with pics/updates. When arriving to pick her up, Maggie was happy & seemingly didn't care that we had returned. It was very obvious that Maggie was well cared for and SPOILED! We highly recommend Shannon and won't hesitate to use her again. (6+ 🌟)”

“Not going to lie, we were nervous leaving our pup with a stranger, but we felt at ease right away. Mark has such a calm demeanor and knows what he is doing. There is another pup he cares for and they play well together, which is great for socializing. If I check in, he responds very quickly and sends us a picture or two. He knows about nervous parents.☺️”

“Maria and her family never disappoint. They are so good with my girls especially my elder pug. They are always well rested and in good spirits each time I pick them up. Strongly recommend Maria.”

About: Senior care experience! I've adopted multiple dogs at 10+ yrs old from the local pounds and made sure they had the best senior care experience possible. I currently have 2 dogs, both spayed and absolutely love other dogs. A Corgi (Ruby) who is 9 and a Maltipoo (Joplin) who will be 2 this year. The poo was adopted from a kill shelter in TX (and one before her from the same area as well). We've lost 4 dogs in 2 yrs due to old age, 3 within 6 months. Hard pill to swallow but I love them all and would LOVE to love yours too! I am a stay-at-home dog mom. I have all the time in the world to take care of your babies! Believe me when I say they will come home all tuckered out :) I have a fenced in back yard and 2 VERY friendly dogs to keep your pups very much entertained! In your home (if a dog sitter in home is required) you can expect all of their daily schedules to be fulfilled.
“Dillon was so responsive, understanding, flexible and chill! This was much appreciated as some travels did not go as planned and my brother-in-law had to pick up my dog later than expected. I really appreciate Dillon going over and beyond what was expected. Would definitely recommend and use again!”

“Joe was really great with my dog who has separation anxiety. He took the time to let her get comfortable and trust him. He also checked in throughout, which gave us peace of mind!”

“Sarah gets excited when I tell her she’s going to see Cortney and the kids. I think she’s more excited when I drop her off than when I come back to pick her up! Chris and Courtney are very nice and I’m thankful for their care of Sarah.”

About: Hello! I have experience with generally small/medium dogs. I grew up and cared for my lil yorkshire terrier, named Tommy throughout most of my youth. He received all the snuggles, belly rubs, yard play, and walks! Enjoying his best life with loved ones.. Once he passed, I have always wanted to keel fur ones around with how much joy they brought into my life! Rover was the best match for my current lifestyle. I recently moved into a new townhome and traveling every so often, I did not want to commit with my own fur baby just yet. This app allows me to love and care for pets as my own but without the long term commitment. Please know your pet will be loved as if it was my own and will be given all the snuggles and attention. With flexible availability, I hope to make your pet at home when you're not able to be there! I work from home Monday-Friday, so will be available to take out your pet throughout the day for potty breaks that works with their normal routine. I am able to take them out for longer walks during my lunch time, and also after work. You can trust that I will give your pet all the love and attention as if it was my own. Play toys, give them treats (if allowed), bring them on walks! I do live in a townhome, but am available at home everyday and will be able to take them out frequently.
“We used Kara and her family for a 2 day overnight stay. We have nothing but the best to say about Kara and her sweet family. Our 5 month old puppy enjoyed his time there and we will definitely use them again!!!”

Great family who you can tell from the start love their dogs and love any dog that comes into their house. Both of their dogs are well behaved and allow your dog time to get used to being in new environment. They have a large fenced back yard that I know my toy Aussie just loved playing ball in. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
