Josh was amazing with my Gypsy. I have always left her with a family member but Josh is now my official pet setter. He is caring and treated my dog as his own. He stayed at my home and took care of it like it was his own. I would highly recommend him as a pet setter. He is five stars all the way.

We had a fantastic experience with Vicki. It was our first time using the Rover app so we were a little nervous, but Vicki was absolutely amazing. Our family members normally look after our dogs while we are out of town but this time around we were going to family graduation, leaving us looking for help elsewhere. She checked in regularly and sent pictures. Very happy with her care for our pups and home. We would definitely recommend her :)

About: Hi there! I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for as long as I can remember and have experience with a variety of breeds and ages. I offer dog walking services in addition to pet sitting, so your pup can get the exercise they need. Currently, I have a high-energy Australian Shepherd, which has given me plenty of experience in keeping dogs entertained and happy. I have had 8 puppies in my care at a time as well if you need puppy care. I’m dedicated to providing loving and attentive care for your favorite family member. My schedule is very flexible so I am able to help at most times! I am in B2B sales and work remote. I can also run your dog if needed! I will ensure that your home is safe and left exactly the way it was upon my arrival. I understand how much trust goes into letting someone into your home.

About: My childhood was surrounded by dogs. When I was 12, I had to completely take care of 4 pit bulls, a Dotson, a mixed breed medium sized dog, and 3 cats. I have watched a few friends and family's pets over the years. Before I moved here, I actually helped my cousin take care of his senior husky with low energy that needed shots for a medical condition and a 2 year old German shepherd with all the energy in the world. My foster mom also bred pugs for a living, and have had to help the momma pug give birth while my foster parents were gone. I also have a 4 year old female Black Mouth Cur named Ava, that I have had since 6 months old, and a 2 year old male pitbull terrier rescue named Bosco, that I have had for a year and counting. He is full of fear and needs a lot of patience to work through it, but after 5 months of touch and go work, he now knows what play is and has his own toys! He also is scared to eat or seems to not know what his feeding bowl is, but after different ways to show that feeding time is okay, he is slowly gaining the weight he should be at! Treats were his sweet spot for knowing it is a safe place, and my sweet Ava sped the process for getting him comfortable in his new home and now commandeers my clothing to sleep with in his bed. Due to Bosco being a rescue and has become very protective is why I can't offer in home sitting in my home but am open to dog sitting at client's homes. I am currently a new stay at home mom. I take care of my two boys and my two fur babies. I am more than ready to help others with their fur babies. Due to behavior of one of my dogs, I would not be able to comfortably care for your fur babies in my own home, but I will do the utmost care for your fur babies in your home! Give me all the rules you need followed; Outside during certain times, feeding strategies, don't sit in a certain spot or area in the home. Nothing is too much to handle! I have even taken care of dogs with potty issues and needed baths for their health care and hygiene of your home.

Stephanie was beyond incredible! This was the first time I have had to leave my dog in someone else's hands, and she made the whole experience so easy. She is experienced, confident, compassionate, and was incredible with my dog Lulu! She went over and beyond with pictures of them out on adventures together, hiking, and having fun. I would 100 percent recommend Stephanie!

Alice is so kind and amazing. She was so sweet with our boys. Our dog and cat loved her. They were nervous at the beginning but she managed to calm them down. She made recommendations to change the dog food when she noticed that he was favoring one type of food over another. I felt so relieved that she took care of our animals. She stayed in touch everyday which was very helpful and assuring. I will certainly hire her again for the next trip.

Lexy was awesome! We were very nervous leaving our crew of 4 pups 2 cats and 1 lizard while went on vacation for a week. She had no problem dealing with the shenanigans of our 1 year old pup while bonding with our other middle aged and senior dogs. She followed all of our instructions to a t and sent plenty of sweet updates and photos. It felt like she really bonded with everyone and seamlessly jumped into their routine. She asked questions whenever she wasn't sure about something to make sure she got it done right. She happily brought in all of our packages and mail and left the house in great condition. We feel so lucky to have finally found someone we can trust with our squad. Definitely would recommend!

About: I have been in the veterinary field for 21 years and a licensed veterinary nurse for 13 of them. Pets safety, happiness and wellbeing are very important to me not just as a career but as a pet owner myself. I love caring for all animals needs whether that be medical, sitting, training and day activities. I am able to work with different temperaments, different types of pets and those with special needs or who require medical support. I have a love of boston terriers. I have rescued and fostered them for over 20 years. I currently have two girls who are my world. I also have an old man cat I adopted from a veterinary hospital I was working at who's owners were unable to financially care for him. I am very active so if you would like a jog or hike for your pet I am down! 🌟I value quality over quantity and prefer to give my full self to every pet and family I work with. By carefully managing my schedule, I can provide attentive, personalized care and build meaningful relationships with both pets and their owners. 🤝🛡️As a Veterinary Nurse, I bring professional knowledge, experience, and a genuine love for animals to every visit and walk. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my priorities. Whether it's ensuring a properly fitted collar, navigating weather conditions, recognizing stress signals, or providing plenty of affection and enrichment, I treat every pet as if they were my own.

FAQs for House Sitting - Chilcoot

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 505 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chilcoot. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chilcoot walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chilcoot maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chilcoot choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chilcoot. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
