We had Lucas sit our 4 y/o mix retriever in our house who is energetic but timid & very attached to us. He did an excellent job looking after her by making sure she had appropriate interaction time, play time, feedings, etc. He also gave her the space to deal with us being gone. All-in-all when we returned she was more relaxed and that was due to how well Lucas took care of her and her not having to leave her home for care. We feel Lucas was a fantastic sitter and will continue to book with him for our dog sitting needs. Craig & Sue

Farrin is an amazing petsitter! She stayed all day with our lab (who gets very anxious when we are away) and two kitties. We were able to enjoy our son's wedding without worrying how our pets were doing. This is our second time booking with Farrin; both times she has communicated well with us before the event as well as sending us updates (texts & pictures) during the actual house/petsitting.

She went above and beyond to try to make her feel comfortable while we were away. We appreciated her continued communication to let us know how our dog was doing. Thank you, Raven, for all that you did!

Great communication, easy to work with, always on time, accommodating on schedule/making adjustments I needed for my trip and up front about her schedule and conflicts she had, which she helped me with. Dogs adored her and were at ease during the first meet and weren't stressed when I got home. Will book again and recommend!

Lily was great with our dogs & cats. She took great care of them and sent pics of them during her stay. She was prompt with her arrival and even stayed due to our later than expected arrival home. I liked that and was available for in-home sitting since our oldest doesn’t do too well with being left. Having her be able to stay home rather than be boarded was a comfort to us during our vacation. Would recommend Lily for anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy in-home sitter.

Alicia was a perfect fit as a sitter for our four little dogs, each with their own quirks and personalities. We received updates from her throughout the time we were away, along with photos and videos. We returned home to find everything just as we left it, and out four dogs healthy and happy to see us. I would recommend Alicia for your dog sitting needs, and will surely call upon her again for our next time away from home.

About: I have had dogs ever since I was little but didn't start being able truly experience the responsibility of taking care of dogs until about 12. Caring for my dogs has served as a great example throughout my life of showing me patience, unconditional love, and loyalty. Over the years I have had 6 dogs with 3 being the ones that I was old enough to care for. All of them with their individual, outgoing personalities have been a joy in my life. A stand out experience I've had with my dogs, has to be currently with caring for my elderly and sickly dog, Yoshi. He is a 10-year-old Husky-Akita who has an autoimmune disease called Pemphigus Vulgaris which severely affects his skin. Out of my family of 4, I have been his primary caretaker; administering his medicine when he was on it, researching different remedies to help him, bathing him to soothe his irritated & itchy skin, making him a natural ointment to treat his wounds, and changing his diet off of dry dog food to a medley of Freshpet dog food and steamed vegetables. Although the process is trying, I see him as God's animal and I feel I've been given the responsibility to care and love him unconditionally as animals were made to do the same for us. I am a freelance graphic designer who works from home so I have open availability to provide animal care. Mostly available Sun-Fri, Limited availability on Saturdays I have a small yard but live in a housing development that is dog friendly with lots of sidewalks and trails that provide dog waste trashcans. Besides walking, I provide feeding, brushing, bathing, administering ointment or medication, and lots of love and attention.

About: I have lived on a farm my whole life. At age 12 I started managing our family farm, which ment taking care of all of our animals, from the horses to the rabbits. There are two rules I keep for myself: 1) every animal has a purpose and a name. They are not just a number (which is important to remember on a farm) 2) They are fed and cared for before anything else. It doesn't matter what's going on they are my first thought when I wake up. I take care of them before I eat. I am currently a college student and working part time for the school. My times and avalibility will change when I resume school in September. Because I live on a farm, I am blessed that my cats can safely be indoor - outdoor cats. I do have a house cat, and I have two outdoor cats. For dogs, I am used to taking dogs on walks, and letting them into secure, fensed in yards.

About: I've been caring for dogs, cats and all types of farm animals for over a decade now. I really enjoy helping animals feel safe in whatever way I can and providing a sense of comfortability. From sweet cuddle bugs to reserved loners to senior geezers, all are welcome in my book. Whatever type of tail I'll love them regardless. I have little gremlins of my own, but that doesn't mean I'll prioritize yours any less. I can work in these timeliness almost always. This will change soon and I will adjust when it does :) Mondays: 12:15-3:40pm 10:30pm-8am Tuesdays: 12:15-2:30pm 7pm-8am Wednesdays: 12:15-3:40 10:30pm-8am Thursdays: 12:15-2:30pm 6:15pm-8am Fridays: 2:30pm through the night Saturdays: 9am-1pm Sundays: ask and I can let you know. If it's more than two weeks in advanced I can likely adjust my schedule. I am always respectful of boundaries both that you have and that your pet has. I like to spend extra time on walks or sitting with my clients fur babies to make sure they are comfortable and having a fun time with me. If they seem unsure I dont push them, I give them a little space. For eating I always assure if there's more than one animal they eat apart from each other to ensure no one gets too possessive over their food. Safe, comfortable, and fun are all important when thinking of your pet.

FAQs for House Sitting - Chewnings Corner

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 872 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chewnings Corner. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chewnings Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chewnings Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chewnings Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chewnings Corner. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
