New to Rover? You can get $20 off your first booking with the promo code "STEPHH14235" I am a self-employed homebody who has an extremely flexible schedule and doesn't currently have pets in the home. This means that I can provide 24/7 care and 100% focus on your little friend full-time. More importantly, your pet will be more comfortable always having a human around. I've been called reliable, honest and punctual. I take a more personalized approach and only serve one client at a time. This way I can provide the most efficient care based on their specific needs while also mitigating the risks of hosting multiple unfamiliar dogs at once. The three pillars of my pet care are safety, reliability, and comfort.

About: I have many years of pet sitting, up to several pets at a time, including owning many of my own since I was a child. I am patient when meeting new pets, for I understand it may take time to warm up to new people (and other pets!) I’m friendly, and talk to most animals just like they’re humans (lol). I enjoy spending time playing around, going for runs, as well as providing companionship when around pets. We love snuggling in bed over here! I’m not easily intimidated by a shy pet, and will treat them with the same respect and patience as their owners. I have high expectations for my own, so I believe it is only normal and natural to give the same in return for others’ pets so their families are comfortable with who they leave their furry friends with when away. My boy is the friendliest dog ever! He absolutely loves meeting other dogs (and the owners to receive even more affection 🤣). He’s got a lot of energy, which can overwhelm others the first day (he just wants to play!) He is very gentle with small dogs. When meeting others’ on the first day, If they are uncomfortable with his energy level and show they need time to warm up, he immediately backs off and resorts to my side until they are ready. He is very submissive in this sense which is great for no escalation and providing other dogs with the time they need to adjust to a new setting/new friends. I work a full time day job Monday-Friday 8-4, so please be sure prior to requesting services, your pets are able to accept this schedule. I am unfortunately unable to stop in midday as my lunch break does not allow for me to make it very far under 30 minutes. My pets along with the others’ I have boarded have had no issues with a routine working schedule, but every pet has different needs. ❤️ I care for others’ pets like they are my own! It is my duty as a trusted sitter to care for others’ pets in a way they need. I predominantly care for pets in others homes as I have several pets of my own. I do not have any issue with camera systems being in shared spaces to assure families feel safe having someone in their home with their pets.

About: I’ve had over 8yrs in experience caring for family/friends companions. Dogs bring me so much joy! They can be so funny and attentive. I have experience with puppies-young adults. I am NOT shy to seniors or dogs with extra needs, that’s just extra love to give! I love hikes/runs and I love sitting on the couch all the same. Practicing more structured walks for the safety of your babies and myself. All dogs safe and welcomed! Currently a gym junkie, unemployed, and online masters student with plenty of free time. DoorDash and InstaCart are the only uses of time. Very flexible and accommodating. No other obligations. Always use slow/cautious approaches. Respecting their space(s). Following strict rules and suggestions. Making sure their necessities are replenished and/or cared for. Checking overall health and hygiene, taking any notes necessary for owners, and offering all the support needed for the furry friends.

About: Hey there!🙋‍♂️ I love animals and grew up always having at least 1 dog in the house🐶🐾I've volunteered for many animal rescue/ adoption organizations such as SPCA, AARF and BARK. I'm very familiar with dogs/cats of different sizes. I dont currently have any pets living with me (your furry friend can have my undivided attention❤). I've been dog walking and dog sitting for free for friends/family then someone told me I could make money doing it 🤯😅😂 I am happy to help during the evenings starting the 26th and I am free any day or time after the 4th. Looking forward to meeting you. I am very clean and tidy at my own house and would treat yours the same. Aside from your pet's more relaxed mood, you wouldn't even know I was there!

About: Let's be honest: leaving your cat is the hardest part of any trip. You're missing them before you've even backed out of the driveway, wondering if they'll eat, if they'll hide, if they'll ever forgive you. When your kitty is with me, they'll enjoy their getaway as much as you enjoy yours, so you can travel guilt-free. And if you want the truly VIP experience? Take advantage of my door-to-door service, and your cat is escorted by me from your front door to mine, never riding with a stranger. It's time to enjoy your travels again. What sets me apart from other sitters? 👑 BOUTIQUE, CATS-ONLY CARE — YOUR KITTY CONCIERGE This is Fredericksburg’s only true cats-only home sitter in Fredericksburg. I don’t just treat your cat like another boarder, your cat is treated like an honored guest. 👑 Pet CPR & first-aid certified 👑 A private cat suite of their own (or shared with their litter mate), styled to match their personality 👑 A secure, screened catio for safe birdwatching and fresh air 👑 Cats only. No dogs, no barking, no chaos, just calm 🐾 A PEACEFUL, CAT-FRIENDLY HOME Every inch is thoughtfully and intentionally designed around what cats need to feel safe and loved. 🐾 Senior cat care & medication welcome 🐾 Shy & anxious cat solutions for the ones who need time to trust 🐾 Calming pheromone comforts in every room 🐾 I’m home around the clock, you never have to leave your cat in an empty building with an alarm again. 🐾 100% monitoring during catio time when owners give permission for catio play ➜ PEACE OF MIND, DELIVERED You booked this trip to relax or get things done at work. Leave your cat with me and watch your worries evaporate. My home is pet safe and no detail has been overlooked. ✨ Daily photos & updates ✨ Door-to-door pick-up & drop-off option ✨ Only four fur babies at a time, ever Because your cat isn't just a pet to me, they're family. I'll care for yours the way you would, with the same gentleness, attention, and love, so you can leave knowing they're in the safest hands. Come see why cat parents happily drive from all over to give their cat the coziest stay of their nine lives. I'm home all day, every day, so your pet is never left alone for long. Pet care isn't a side gig for me, it's my full focus. That means constant supervision, steady routines, plenty of playtime and affection, potty breaks, feedings, and medications given right on schedule, exactly when your pet needs them. Before your cat ever stays, you and I start with an in-depth consultation call or a relaxed meet-and-greet, because the secret to a calm stay is knowing your cat before they walk in the door. I want to hear it all: their personality and quirks, their favorite comforts and foods, their routine and hiding spots, any medications or medical needs, how they feel about other cats, and the little things that make them feel safe. It's also where you and I will go over vaccinations (current rabies and FVRCP are required, for everyone's safety) and any health history I should know. A few things I'll need from you: Your cat's full veterinary contact information, including your regular vet and your emergency preferences, so I'm ready to act fast if anything ever comes up. Current vaccination records and any medications, with clear instructions. Their honest personality, shy, spicy, senior, or social, so I can prep their suite and their days to fit them perfectly. And you're always welcome to bring their own bed, blanket, toys, food, and litter. Familiar smells make everything easier. The more I know, the more at home your cat feels, and the more you get to relax while you're away.

About: Hi there! My name is Sam and I have experience sitting for all types of animals. From cuddly Pyrenees, and scary-smart German pinschers, to spunky chinchillas, their best cat friends, and curious pythons. I have been through partial behavioral training for dogs (and their humans), and have experience with animal hospice situations, as well as behaviorally aggressive dogs. I prefer to keep the animal's care as consistent as possible. The more details you have of your preferred method of walking, reward, or preparation habits, the better. Trust and care are my number one goals when it comes to animal sitting. Not just with the four legged babies, but with the parents as well. I know how important it is to feel comfortable with your care provider, and what a treat it is to know that you can trust someone with the care of your loved ones. Also, aren't dogs just perfect? I work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and am currently on telework, so my weekly availability is early morning, and late afternoon. I also volunteer at the Old Dominion Humaine Society and occasionally foster for them at my house. I have one <1 year old puppy, and I have a home with a large yard but no fence. That means all foster dogs get leash walked always and there are many mind teaser toys for rainy days. I feed in crates and make it a safe space for them to decompress.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Chewnings Corner

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
