“Bailie took great care of our cat while we were away for a week! Great communication, especially on things such as when she would be arriving for the drop in. Would recommend to anyone in the area who needs a sitter!”

“Alicia was on time, my dog warmed right up to her and off they went on the walk. She followed the instructions I had left her (i.e eye drops, water in bowl, leave treats, etc). My dog is happy with her and I will definitely be calling her again to dog sit/drop in.”

“Jeanette & Marvin took exception care of our 2 senior girls. They went above and beyond expectations. We were completely satisfied with their care. Would recommend and will book again. Thank you so much.”

About: I have many years of pet sitting, up to several pets at a time, including owning many of my own since I was a child. I am patient when meeting new pets, for I understand it may take time to warm up to new people (and other pets!) I’m friendly, and talk to most animals just like they’re humans (lol). I enjoy spending time playing around, going for runs, as well as providing companionship when around pets. We love snuggling in bed over here! I’m not easily intimidated by a shy pet, and will treat them with the same respect and patience as their owners. I have high expectations for my own, so I believe it is only normal and natural to give the same in return for others’ pets so their families are comfortable with who they leave their furry friends with when away. My boy is the friendliest dog ever! He absolutely loves meeting other dogs (and the owners to receive even more affection 🤣). He’s got a lot of energy, which can overwhelm others the first day (he just wants to play!) He is very gentle with small dogs. When meeting others’ on the first day, If they are uncomfortable with his energy level and show they need time to warm up, he immediately backs off and resorts to my side until they are ready. He is very submissive in this sense which is great for no escalation and providing other dogs with the time they need to adjust to a new setting/new friends. I work a full time day job Monday-Friday 8-4, so please be sure prior to requesting services, your pets are able to accept this schedule. I am unfortunately unable to stop in midday as my lunch break does not allow for me to make it very far under 30 minutes. My pets along with the others’ I have boarded have had no issues with a routine working schedule, but every pet has different needs. ❤️ I care for others’ pets like they are my own! It is my duty as a trusted sitter to care for others’ pets in a way they need. I predominantly care for pets in others homes as I have several pets of my own. I do not have any issue with camera systems being in shared spaces to assure families feel safe having someone in their home with their pets.
“Jessica was amazing with our old man Soldier! She took every visit to its full length or beyond to make sure he was good to go! We will definitely be rebooking her again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dog for the last three years. I’m very trust worthy and compassionate when it comes to dogs, friends and family trust me with there pets I’m currently working during the week, but I’m available every weekend and also every Friday after 4:00 pm so I’ll have plenty of time to play with animals on weekends. I have a wide opened smoke free apartment so the pets could run freely and be comfortable. There is plenty of out door space also with a nature trail to walk.
About: Hi there! My name is Sam and I have experience sitting for all types of animals. From cuddly Pyrenees, and scary-smart German pinschers, to spunky chinchillas, their best cat friends, and curious pythons. I have been through partial behavioral training for dogs (and their humans), and have experience with animal hospice situations, as well as behaviorally aggressive dogs. I prefer to keep the animal's care as consistent as possible. The more details you have of your preferred method of walking, reward, or preparation habits, the better. Trust and care are my number one goals when it comes to animal sitting. Not just with the four legged babies, but with the parents as well. I know how important it is to feel comfortable with your care provider, and what a treat it is to know that you can trust someone with the care of your loved ones. Also, aren't dogs just perfect? I work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and am currently on telework, so my weekly availability is early morning, and late afternoon. I also volunteer at the Old Dominion Humaine Society and occasionally foster for them at my house. I have one <1 year old puppy, and I have a home with a large yard but no fence. That means all foster dogs get leash walked always and there are many mind teaser toys for rainy days. I feed in crates and make it a safe space for them to decompress.
About: Hi! I’m home for the summer and excited to spend time doing something I love, caring for animals. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, and I recently lost my own, which reminded me just how much animals mean to me. While I don’t have time for a full-time pet right now, I still stay involved by volunteering every week at a local animal shelter and helping care for the cat I live with at school. I also worked as a vet assistant for a year, so I’m experienced with pets of all ages and temperaments. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or anything in between, I’ll treat your pet with the same love and care I gave my own. I’m currently taking an online summer course with a very flexible schedule, so I’m available throughout the summer for pet sitting, dog walking, and drop-in visits. Since I’m not working right now, I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or overnight stays, I’m happy to help however I can! In your home, I follow your pet’s routine closely, feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions, so they stay comfortable and happy while you’re away. I make sure they get plenty of attention and care!
“Elizabeth is an amazing Rover! She cared for our senior cat and provided compassionate care. She was very responsible and followed all instructions perfectly. She sent us daily photos and updates. We came home to a very happy cat and everything was left neat and orderly. We appreciate you Elizabeth! Thank you so much! 🐈”

“We had a walkaround the house with Rochelle. Rochelle was attentive and took lots of pictures. You can tell that she takes the care of our pups and the house very seriously. After learning the house, Rochelle observed the correct food portions and fed the pups. She is so loving to the pups.”

“Lucas has taken care of my 2 cats several times in the last 4 months. I am so thankful for his services. He truly loves cats & dogs & does a great job caring for my cats. He hasn’t taken care of my dog yet as I take her with me when I go away, but I would trust him with her. You can’t go wrong with Lucas!”

About: I treat every pet like family and tailor my care to their unique needs. Whether it’s patiently helping a puppy learn routines, giving extra love and support to senior pets, or just making sure your furry friend feels safe and happy while you're away—I’m here for it all. I have hands-on experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including senior pets who need gentler care and dogs who require medication. I’m also comfortable with basic training and reinforcing good habits for puppies. Your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness are my top priorities. I take the time to understand their personality, routines, and quirks, so you can relax knowing they’re in good hands. Pet care is a meaningful part of my daily life, and I’ve structured my routine to make sure your pet gets the attention they deserve. I work full-time during the week, but I’m fortunate to live close to my job, which allows me to come home on my lunch break for walks, potty breaks, or a little mid-day playtime. My weekends are completely free, giving me plenty of time for longer visits, overnights, or extended care. Whether it’s weekday check-ins or weekend companionship, I’m committed to keeping your pet happy, safe, and loved. Whether I’m caring for pets in your home or mine, I focus on providing a safe, loving, and low-stress environment tailored to each pet’s individual needs. In Your Home: I follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible—mealtimes, walks, play, medications, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable and cared for. I treat your home with respect and keep you updated with messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. In My Home: I offer a quiet, pet-friendly space with plenty of attention, affection, and time outdoors (for dogs). I do have one friendly cat who is both indoor and outdoor, so I always ensure any visiting pets are comfortable and safely introduced, if needed. I also limit the number of pets I care for at a time to ensure each one gets plenty of individual attention. No matter the setting, your pet’s well-being and happiness are my top priorities.
“1st time using Rover and Judy and couldn't be happier. Judy was very responsive and took great care of my boys, gave me regular updates and photos of them being....them. lol. She took them time to make sure not only were they fed, but ensured they had everything they needed before she left.”

“Victoria has been our regular petsitter while we work. Our Cavalier, Louie, loves her! She is great with our dog, and has excellent communication with me. Victoria is always flexible if changes in our weekly schedule occur. She always informs me if something comes up and we need to adjust the days she pet-sits Louie. Victoria has such a special way with animals. I highly recommend her.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chewnings Corner. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
