“Abbey is the absolute best!! I cannot recommend her enough for keeping your fur baby happy and safe when you are away. She provides detailed updates, and she also sent lots of cute pictures! A very reliable sitter & so sweet! 🫶”

“Ella is a top notch cat sitter and house sitter. She has been a reliable part of our kitty-care for years now, and I don’t know what we’d do without her! We can always count on her to be responsible, flexible, communicative, and so sweet with our kitt-os! Couldn’t recommend more highly.”

“Highly reliable. Was great with my dogs, you can tell she loves animals. She gave great communication and feedback of how my dogs were doing. I would highly recommend her and I will be using her again in the future.”

About: I’ve always had family dogs and cats! Always helped with families pets, volunteered at animal shelters, and have used other walk/sitting apps before. Never met an animal I didn’t love! Full time student at UNMC, looking for part time care. Available for walks mostly in the evenings and on weekends, and available for sitting most of the time! I will look after your pets as if they were my own! I will treat each and every pet with respect and acknowledge their specific needs!
“Kirstin did a great job checking in on our extra shy kitty! Consistent communication and provided nice photo updates during each check-in. I appreciated her notes after each visit and our "meet and greet" before the first visit.”

About: I've spent the last 20 years caring for cats, dogs, and pocket pets — both my own and those belonging to friends, family and clients. What started as a childhood passion has turned into a lifetime of experience with animals of all personalities and needs. I treat every pet in my care like my own, and their comfort and happiness are always my top priority! I work full-time(remotely) and am available for early morning, mid-day and after 5 PM check ins. Weekends are available as well, if my calendar is open. I'm happy to come to your home and care for your animals. Prior to the first visit, I like to make sure I fully understand what your pet needs are so that I can help them feel the most comfortable while you're away.
“Our dog is so happy that we found Deanna. He is hoping she’ll play fetch again with him again before long. Great job and highly recommend. Deanna even brought treats for us and our dog. So sweet!”

“Jamie is a wonderful and caring person who loves animals. Our dog is very shy, but she and Jamie hit it off and was well taken care while we were gone. Highly recommend! Thanks again for taking such good care of Missy.”

About: I grew up in diverse household of both cats and dogs. Although I am a proud cat mom of 6 year old and 1 year old. I love dogs too! I know it can be nerve wracking to leave your beloved pet with a stranger. Since I am at place where I can’t have any more pets I move all of my extra love into yours! I am currently working full time Monday thru Friday. I also work 9-5:30. I am looking to earn some extra money throughout the week. Something before and after my shift. I currently live in an apartment but my place is spacious enough to have multiple scratching posts, litter boxes, water fountains, and cat toys. They don’t even pay rent and they have more stuff than I do 😂.
“Maria was absolutely fantastic with my pups, and she was super patient with my more skittish/testy dog, who I know can be a lot to handle for most people. She was absolutely OK with giving my nugget her medication (which had just been prescribed a few days prior to her visit), and did an absolutely excellent job doing so! I would highly recommend booking Maria!”

“Liliana did a great job of taking care of my cats: cleaning their litter boxes, giving them fresh water in clean bowls every day, and I know the cats appreciated the food and attention. She’s a caring and trustworthy person. So grateful.”

“Allyson was wonderful! She was always punctual and followed everything I asked her to do for Oggy. She also left very detailed notes after each visit, which I really appreciated. Her updates made me feel completely at ease while I was away because I knew Oggy was in good hands. When we came back, he was happy and relaxed, and it was clear that he felt very comfortable with her. I would definitely trust Allyson to take care of Oggy again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable and caring to take care of their pet!”

“Thank you so much Tiffany for taking such great care of Pepper. I know he really enjoys your visits and we really appreciate know he’s receiving such good care.”

About: With hands-on experience working at Kenl Inn in Lincoln, NE, I’ve gained valuable experience caring for dogs and providing them with the attention, patience, exercise, and love they deserve. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, and I’m committed to making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I am available throughout the week and weekends to care for your furry family! I will prioritize your pets needs and comfort while you are away. Whether your pet stays in my home or I care for them in yours, I provide personalized, loving attention based on their individual needs and routine. I make sure they receive fresh food and water, exercise, playtime, potty breaks, medication when needed, and plenty of love and companionship. I also keep their environment clean, safe, and comfortable so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
About: I have been pet and house sitting for the past seven years, primarily caring for dogs and cats, but I also have experience with a wide variety of more unique pets. I’m currently attending the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, pursuing a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife, and my love for animals goes well beyond the classroom. Over the years, I’ve personally owned and cared for fish, turtles, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, and a variety of birds, so I’m comfortable with pets of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. I’m responsible, reliable, and kind, and I would love the opportunity to give your pets the same care and attention I give my own. The only thing on my schedule is class from 11 to 12:30 everyday. Will build my schedule around times that I am needed to attend to your pets. Your pet’s safety is my top priority! I’m pretty sure my years of experience caring for my own personal “zoo” have prepared me for just about anything! I’m careful about following each pet’s routines, keeping doors, gates, leashes, and other potential escape routes secure, and making responsible decisions based on each animal’s needs and behavior. I take time to understand feeding instructions, medications, exercise routines, allergies, and any special safety concerns before caring for a pet, and I’m attentive and proactive while they’re in my care. My goal is for you to feel confident that your pets are safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away
About: I volunteer at the humane society walking dogs every Saturday morning and have for years. I've handled many dogs of varying ages and needs. I currently have two of my own. I'm a long-time dog owner and my world revolves around them. I work from home on Thursdays and Fridays. I walk my own dogs at least once daily. I try to include them in weekend activities. One of my dogs requires daily medication. I leave them alone for minimal time each day. They go to doggie daycare on days I work in the office. I also enjoy taking my dogs to the dog park for a change of scenery. I have a fully enclosed fenced yard, 6ft tall. I control and supervise outdoor yard time. I keep the screen doors locked. I walk my dogs with a running leash that locks, and they are never off-leash. While I'm not formally "certified" in pet CPR or first-aid, I have read books on the subject to be prepared for emergencies involving my dogs. I'm also familiar with the after-hours emergency veterinary services in Lincoln.
About: I have experience with many different breeds, including reactive dogs and aggressive breeds. I have patience and understanding for every dog and their unique routines and behaviors. I have been pet sitting for friends and family since I was able to drive and I will provide an informed and easy going experience for your dog sitting needs as well. I’m currently working full time Monday through Thursday and I am available to pet sit extended time periods as well as short. Aside from having my weekends free to care for your fur baby I am also available to provide morning, noon, and evening walks and playtime sessions. Rest assured that when you’re gone your fur baby is receiving my full attention. I live in an apartment that is close to a walking and bike bath. My personal preference is taking the 10 minute drive to Holmes Lake and going for walks around that area.

Jamie did drop-in visits for our dog over a long weekend, and she was wonderful! She is so great with him, especially during stressful situations like thunderstorms and bad weather. She always keeps us updated and gives us peace of mind knowing he is happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we’re away. It’s such a relief to have someone we trust taking care of him. We would absolutely recommend Jamie!

Rachael is outstanding! I’m so happy we found her on Rover. She’s so good with our pets! She always prompt with their meals and sends us pictures daily. We get an update on each one individually so we know how they’re doing while we’re away. Five stars aren’t enough!! 😻

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
