“Jess communicated well before and throughout the stay, sent updates and pictures, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. When our travel plans were delayed, she was flexible and stayed later than planned so Rollo wouldn’t have to be alone too long, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, Rollo was happy and content when we got home.”

About: I will NEGOTIATE PRICES!! Especially with higher priced stays. It's all dependent on your animals level of needs/length of stay amongst other things. 🙂 Please just ask, there are just no extra settings in the app for this. 🙂 I offer discounts for smaller dogs, as well as well trained dogs. I also offer $20 off your FIRST booking with me with code ELIZAD92501 I've cared for a variety of animals all my life. I really enjoy walking, I LOVE everything about the ocean, as well as the woods and I've spent the majority of my childhood outside in nature. ❤️Animals have gotten me through some of the worst parts of my life and have always been there for me in ways another human could not. I'm good with specialty care, as I've owned rats in the past for quite a few years! They require a very specific healthy diet/great air quality and require much more extensive care than people realize. They require expensive, careful care and planning, much more than your average pet. I've also had pet cats, dogs, mice, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, and chickens in the past. My dream is to live on a farm someday and animals have always been a big part of my life. I know that ALL creatures are very sentient and feel just as deeply as we do, if not deeper. Animals are very intelligent creatures and often know and see things we do not! My environment here is laid back and I'm a very chilled out down to earth kind of person. I like to have everything set up for my pets I'm watching as soon as I get in the door. I'm very attentive and empathetic as well. I'm always sure to send regular updates and photos. If you ever need or want anything during a stay just ask, I'm always very understanding. My boyfriend and I live together and he also enjoys helping care for the pets I take care of. He's is a very loving, intelligent, kind hearted person and just all around a great guy with a pure heart ❤️ I'm at home full time right now, I live next to a park with a walking trail and many side streets where I and other people regularly walk their dogs. If I'm not at home my boyfriend is and vice versa. I usually wake up early in the morning. I've cared for a variety of animals all my life. I really enjoy walking, I LOVE everything about the ocean, as well as the woods and I've spent the majority of my childhood outside in nature. ❤️ I'm a deep thinker and I genuinely care about others emotions deeply. Others Pain, hurt, and happiness affect me as if it were my own and that's probably one of my greatest weaknesses in life. People aren't always there for you, but animals are! They have gotten me through the worst parts of my life and have always been there for me in ways when another person wasn't. I take my own path in life, you could call me a loner lol. I've always been a little different from others and I don't fit in with the big crowd. I'm also part native American and I've always felt and known there is a deeper meaning and connection to everything in life, although I don't know if the two are connected lol. He's is a very loving, intelligent, kind hearted person and just all around a great guy with a pure heart I always make sure my pets have fresh food and water / clean bowls. I'm accommodating so just ask! Water change at least 2× a day. I like to make sure that they have their food and water station all set up, and their bed and toys set out right after they come in the door so they feel at home. I pick up on cues easily and most always know when to take them out. I also note care details down and keep everything in mind. I send updates regularly and lots of photos. I'm attentive and empathetic too! Having an animal next to me while I'm having family time makes my place feel cozy and homey ❤️ I always double check with the owner about what their pets can and can't have when I want to give snacks or extra treats, and I also have knowledge of what's okay to give them and not.
“Carla was wonderful with our dog and cat. Our elderly cat, Ellie, was in her final stages of life, but we felt comfortable leaving her with Carla, who updated us daily, or more, on her declining health. Unfortunately, we said goodbye to Ellie the day we got home. But, we're glad she was with such a caring person her final week of life. We would enthusiastically recommend Carla as your pet sitter.”

About: I am always the first to be called when a friend needs doggy daycare or house sitting with dogs, cats, and often other animals. I’ve fostered and found homes for rescues internationally and domestically. I’ve worked for a doggy daycare where I was responsible for 50-70 dogs with a crew of 2-4 people. I also spent a few months off and on taking care of 10-22 huskies while part of the herd were sled racing. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and enjoy seeing all of their unique personalities. I’ve loved animals since I was small. We always had cats when I was little, as well as ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, my turtle boy China B, parakeets, and a Senegal parrot foster. I was surprised with a rescue dog when I was 10, Hemingway. It was an amazing experience and I helped train Hemmy to be a service dog for my grandmother who was visually impaired. Winter rates are now $250/day for basic overnights, includes 3 pets. Will adjust include extra rates accordingly to animals and household needs. I’m self employed and have the flexibility to set my daily schedule around your animals needs and regular routine. Lots of scritches, play time and love are part of my commitment to your pets. I am available for short and long walks (depending on your animals needs and ability), playtime, companionship, love and affection, meals and snacks as well as monitoring medication if needed.

“Jedan is amazing!!! She stayed at our house for about a week and cared for (and spoiled!) Kimmie as if she were her own, buying her toys/treats and even cooking for her. She kept us constantly updated with messages and photos and was extremely respectful. Looking forward to booking her again!”

“Melissa stayed at our home and cared for our springer spaniel and two cats. She had excellent communication, sharing update and clarifying any information needed. We have booked her again for a longer trip we are taking and feel confident leaving our pets and our home in her capable hands!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Charleston on Rover is $29.43 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Charleston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Charleston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charleston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
