“You can tell how much Natasha and Hamir really care about dogs and they took such good care of our 6-month poodle puppy Jujuba during our 10-day trip. We were very worried as it was our first time away from our puppy but they did an amazing job treating him as if he was theirs and putting all our worries at ease. Natasha sent us updates everyday with pictures and prioritized Jujuba’s safety. The dog area is separated from the kitchen by gates, so you don’t need to worry about puppy swallowing something that’s not good for them. Natasha and Hamir not only took him on regular walks, but also kept him away from heat when it was too hot outside. Our puppy gets some eye allergy and Natasha cleaned his eyes as I asked. We could see how comfortable and happy Jujuba got with them when we picked him up. We will definitely use them again in future! 🥰🥰”

“We have a trip planned for two weeks in May and wanted to have Lola go to Arianne and her family overnight to see how it worked out. Lola got comfortable immediately with her family and with Lily her sweet dog. They slept together and always well.”

“Luz & Michelle were excellent sitters for our Pixie! Before we dropped Pixie off they made sure to find out if she had any special needs and what her schedule was. They were responsive and made sure to update me throughout the night with pictures and updates on how Pixie was doing. I 100% recommend them and will use them again.”

“Rene always takes great care of Cory. She noticed that he was itchy and has some skin irritation so asked if he could have some Benadryl, and always sends pics and videos of him playing and having a great time.”

“Arsenii was wonderful with my dog Genevieve while we had to be away for a family’s memorial. He was always kind, understanding, and sent me updates with pictures everyday without me having to ask. He also brought all her things (bed, food, toys, etc) back to my car when I picked her up, which was so generous. Genevieve also had the best time with them, and was very happy and relaxed. I’ll definitely be asking Arsenii to help out again in the future. Fully recommend him!!”

“Irene and her family did a wonderful job taking care of Nibbles! As soon as we drove up, Irene and her husband came to greet us and Nibbles felt comfortable with both of them immediately. She sent me pictures throughout the time he was there and I am so grateful that I found her!”

“My dog Abby and my daughters dog Owen have previously only been left with family members. This was their first time being left with someone other than family. Doreen made us all feel comfortable leaving them in her care. The picture, video and text message updates we received while away left us feeling content that our dogs were being well cared for. Both dogs came home happy. We would not hesitate leaving them with Doreen again in the future.”

“Yasmeen is very pleasant and I could tell Jack had a good stay with her. We were nervous leaving him at an apartment as he’s used to a backyard, and we were going out of the country. Yasmeen took him out throughout the day and followed his special diet with no issues. Plus I think Jack enjoyed having her dog as a buddy to play with. Thank you Yasmeen!”

“Scooter had the BEST holiday week with Tabitha and her family. It’s nerve-racking leaving your dog somewhere new for the first time, especially for a full week. We got so many picture updates of scooter having a blast and playing throughout the week and he even made a new doggie friend which can be hit or miss for him. We will happily send him to her family again anytime they are up for hosting. Highly recommend!!”

“This is the first time that Bison stayed with someone outside of the immediate family. In the past I boarded my dogs at various kennels and they also came home with should I say “a little attitude “. This was not the case with Robert. Robert shared pic of him and Bison on walks (which he loves) and also had a chance to let. Bison play with the neighbor’s dogs. Robert had a large enclosed backyard that make us feel comfortable. He and Bison bonded as well Robert learned that Bison loves to take over the bed. I was glad that I was able to find Robert as I had less anxiety leaving Bison for the first time. I will use Robert asmy go to in the future. Highly recommend him as he is a dog person.”

“You will be hard pressed to find a better person than Katharine to take care of your fur child! We are so thrilled that we found her thru Rover. She could not be more kind and loving to my Katie. She takes her on wonderful walks, sending us great photos and frequent updates. I have complete peace of mind when leaving Katie with Katharine and know she’s in great hands. Katie thoroughly enjoys her visits with Katharine. Thank you Katharine! 🦮”

“Jennifer was the absolute best. Our dog had some separation issues that we weren’t aware of. Jennifer understood what was happening and handled it like the pro she is.”

“Took the time to make sure my pup was at home and comfortable. He can be a little shy at first but Carrigan made sure he felt safe. Unsurprisingly, he seemed to adjust very quickly.”

“Our twelve year old chipoo had a wonderful stay with Rafaelina over the holidays. I could tell he was given lots of exercise, attention and love. We received several update pics and notes each day as well, which was very comforting. Highly recommended!”

“Alexis was amazing and she was so thoughtful to send us videos during our time away from our pup, Rosie! The fact that she would be the one reaching out to us during our vacation definitely assured me that Alexis was taking great care of our Rosie. I would 110% use her again for our future needs!”

“Emma took great care of my dog Buddy! She kept us updating by sending pictures and messages to check in! She was great at responding and looks like Buddy had a great time. Would definitely book again!”

“Nandita was amazing! I loved working with her. She is super flexible and very communicative. Her dog Ozzy is the sweetest and got along so well with our boy 😊 I will definitely be booking with her again. I felt so at ease with her caring for our pup. Thank you again Nandita!”

Jolene is an anxious confound who in the past had issues with her sitters. I was giving up going away alone with my husband. All that changed when I met and booked Jolene with Darlene. It was a wonderful experience for Jolene and gave me piece of mind even abroad. Highly recommend her service!

First time boarding with Randi and it was an incredibly smooth experience. Randi is extremely flexible and was a life saver for when we were away on a multi city driving trip. We were watching the weather in case we needed to abandon our plans and come back home mid trip. Randi was extremely flexible and accommodating and I am so grateful for that. Our dog is a picky eater and is also on some tricky meds…and Randi kept in touch with regular updates. She persevered with attempts to get her to eat both food and meds, until our dog did finally start to eat! Our dog came home happy and healthy! We will definitely board with Randi again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
