“Emma did an absolute amazing job with my pup! Kept in contact and sent pics. I would highly recommend her! She not only took great care of Bear Bear, but also of my home. Thank you Emma!”

“Lilou was great! From our initial meet and greet and making sure she was comfortable staying at our apartment , to a second visit where we walked the dogs and showed her around the neighborhood so she was sure how to get in and out of our building. We felt very comfortable and confident with her taking care of our boys since she has dogs of her own and lots of experience sitting other dogs. She sent us updates and pictures which we appreciated very much. She had no issues with our dogs which was great. I would highly recommend her to anyone and would love to have her again in the future. Thanks Lilou!”

“Rebecca was fantastic. She took great care of our dog and followed our detailed instructions attentively. She also sent regular updates which we really appreciated. Would love to have her watch our fur babies again!”

“Bryan did a great job watching our senior dog with several health issues! He was extremely thorough in asking about her daily routines/needs before the appointment. He was flexible with us with timing which was great. He was also super communicative throughout the stay. The house was in perfect order when we got home and I don’t think I’ve ever seen my dog so calm after being with a sitter. He really went above and beyond to take care of her and I couldn’t recommend him enough.”
About: I’ve owned and cared for pets of all kinds, having dogsitting/housesitting experience since high school. I bring enthusiasm, energy, hospitality, and respect. I enter dogsitting jobs prioritizing your rules, your boundaries, with the understanding that I serve and support your family. I’m just out of school on the job search so I have plenty of time and energy to care for and play with your pets. I have lots of flexibility and openness in my schedule. I ensure to thoughtfully check on your pets, respecting your wishes and instructions to keep them on necessary routines while maintaining good habits. I am adaptable, detailed, and mindful.
“Mitch is wonderful. We have one very quirky rescue dog and Mitch did great with him. He sent pictures daily which were so appreciated. We really were not worried about the dogs while away as we knew they were in his great care. He stopped by and met us and the dogs before we left. House was in perfect condition when we got home too. Communication was great and Mitch is a really nice guy. We will definitely use his services again.”

About: I’ve always had dogs and cats growing up, but my two babies, Darwin and Aria, are my deepest experience. I’ve had them both since they were 14 and 10 weeks old, and they are now 13 and 10 years old. Aria is an English Shepherd at 13.5yo with Cushings Disease and Osteoarthritis, who used to be very reactive. Darwin is a 10yo mini Aussie and has been lovingly called a “full-time dog”. Here’s my take on what my experience and personality means to you. I personally don’t use pet sitting or boarding services because 1) I’m not in a position where I must leave them alone 2)I don’t trust people to care for my dogs well enough 3)Aria is high needs (medications, diapers, baths) 4)Darwin is annoying. Translation: I have a high tolerance for care/attention needs, I operate with a zero risk safety approach, and I see our pets as nonverbal children who require enrichment. I work full-time but I’m trying to do more and thought this could be fun. I’m available on weekends for overnight stay/walks, and evenings for walks. I can maybe do a Friday/Monday overnight if you have good wifi and quiet place to work. First of all, I wish I could hire me to sit my dogs so I can take a vacation. I fly in family to watch my dogs. My rules: unless it’s an inescapable fenced yard, leashes. My dogs have great recall for me, but no one else. No unsanctioned food. Meals/water/BM/potty are monitored, play doesn’t happen for 30 min before/after eating to avoid bloat. Please, no high value items out during a stay, you never know if guarding will be an issue. 1-2x45min walks + enrichment (play/mental challenges/petting). I will not do dog parks or allow other dogs to engage with your dog if I am with them, it’s not fair for either of us. Basically the goal is to keep you pet entertained, exercised, fed, and safe.
“Jennifer was great! She communicated regularly throughout our stay, took wonderful care of our dog and even better care of the house! She washed all the sheets, cleaned our kitchen area and even shoveled snow from the walkway and backyard. Would highly recommend.”

About: I have been taking care of a large variety of dogs for 20 years. From eight weeks old to 16 years old, from pugs to chows and pitbulls to 140 pound malamutes I have cared for them all. I can come by to walk and feed your best friends once a day or stay and cook them meals as per your request. I want to make sure you and your loved ones are as comfortable as possible while you are away. I do freelance work so I have pretty open availability. Making sure you're needs are met so you are comfortable is my top priority. If for some reason I can't meet all of your needs I will tell you before committing to something that doesn't fit my schedule or abilities. I am here for you. How I care for your pets and home is mostly dependent on your requests. I give medicine, food and exercise as requested. I can simply fill a food bowl, measure servings and even cook protein and veggies for your dogs if that is what you want. I am happy to keep you updated or send you pictures if you'd like. Walks are as far/long/plentiful as requested. I want to provide you with the comfort of knowing someone is there to care for your loved one as you would while you are away.
“Michael sent lots of pictures and kept in communication while I was gone which kept me at ease. Holden had a good time with Michael while I was gone and took great care of my house.”

“Alec is a very kind, helpful, and thoughtful pet sitter. He watched my dog for an extended period while I was in Alaska and out of cell service. Despite being unable to reach me, he took excellent care of my dog and went above and beyond to make sure my apartment was also well cared for. I felt completely confident that everything was in good hands while I was away.”

“So thankful that Chris was the one taking care of our Beau. The two got along from the get-go. Chris kept us in the loop on how things were going and he sent us several really nicely composed photos of Beau. I would definitely recommend Chris for taking care of such an important member of your family.”

“Sarah was a perfect fit for our pet and house-sitting needs. We recently moved to Colorado and travel frequently for work, so finding someone we could trust with our kitty, Shimmy, was incredibly important. We were away on a two-week international trip, and Sarah took wonderful care of both our home and our cat. She was communicative, responsive, and kept us updated throughout our travels. During our time away, she encountered a couple of unexpected issues and handled both professionally and calmly, which gave us great peace of mind. When we returned home, the house was in perfect condition, and Shimmy was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy pet and house sitter.”

“Robin was amazing and so easy to work with. She made me feel at ease while I was out of town. I know she treated my animals as if they were her own and I highly recommend her!”

About: Hi! I love dog sitting, and I look forward giving your dog all the care, exercise, and attention they deserve while you are away. My dog Tommy and I love making new friends and we look forward to meeting your dog soon! I have had dogs for 10 years and have spent many years dog sitting on Rover and for friends as well as fostering dogs for animal rescue organizations. I love to go for walks and spend as much time with the dogs as possible. I can adapt to any exercise requirements your dog may have. I spent many hours training my dog as a puppy so I know how important maintaining good habits are. I am happy to maintain any structure you use at home for your dog and to maintain the training you have given them. My dog Tommy is half lab half golden. He is very friendly and likes to have friends around. Tommy and I offer house sitting in your home as well. He is very polite and good in the house! Please reach out with any questions you may have. I do require a meet and greet prior to booking. I take my dog for walks in the morning and evening with a bathroom break in the middle of the day. We also incorporate playing and training and sometimes walk on local trails or go for hikes. I abide by any rules your dog follows when they are with you. My dog is free to go anywhere in the house during the day (although he usually hangs out with me!), and he stays in my room while I am out of the house.

FAQs for House Sitting - Central City
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 7,221 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Central City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Central City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Central City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Central City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Central City. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
