“Mary is fantastic! She watched our critters for a week while we were away. She did everything we asked and then some. She checked-in every evening and sent very detailed updates. She also sent lots of photos of our girls. We will definitely hire Mary again!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter! She went above and beyond to make sure our pets were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful, and her communication throughout the stay gave us such peace of mind. “Christine is amazing! She is punctual, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She was able to accommodate my last-minute request while I was in town visiting family and unexpectedly needed someone to care for my dog. I’m always nervous about leaving my dogs with someone new, but Christine immediately put my mind at ease. It was clear that she genuinely cared for my dog and treated him like one of her own. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“This was a great first time experience with cat sitting my cat Bruno. I was in a hurry to find anybody in my time of emergency and I’m glad I was able to find Kylie. Bruno ended up liking her and they were a great match. I will be using the service again because I know that there will be more trips to come later and hopefully Kylie will be available to take care of Bruno again.”

About: I’ve taken care of many pets, I’ve pet volunteered at the SAHS for about 6 months, and I’ve done pet sitting for my friends and family and neighbors for about a year or longer and I am currently working at Barkaritaville pet Resort! I always make sure that your pet(s) is happy and content while providing all the proper care for your pet(s) My availability will vary due to my job, I work 4 days a week most weeks from 7am - 6:30 pm. So on those days I unfortunately don’t have any availability, on my off days I will be happy do walk your dog or stop by for a drop in! I have 3 dogs in my own home, as soon as I wake up I make sure that they are fed and that they have gone outside. For my clients I arrive early, or at a set time they would like me to arrive, make sure that they have gone potty (I stand off to the side and watch if not distracting for the pet) and then I prepare their food and make sure that they eat before I leave. I do sometimes walk them if requested.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Castroville
Mary did an excellent job caring for our cats! Her communication throughout the visits was outstanding, which was especially important since we were traveling internationally. Being across the globe and trusting someone with our babies is no small thing, but Mary far exceeded our expectations. Our cats really warmed up to her over the course of her visits, which says everything about how caring and attentive she was with them. We definitely hope to use her services again in the future!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Castroville. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
