“This was our first time using Cheri and she was great. Check in/Check out and pics all timely. I enjoyed meeting her, very out going and well dressed. We will reach out to her again in the future.”

“Michelle was an awesome sitter for our cat while we were away for a week. She was extremely reliable for the check-ins and also very communicative with us the entire time. Plus we got lots of great photos. :) We will definitely re-book Michelle when we are away and highly recommend her.”

“Jean was so flexible on my last booking. It was very last minute and she did a fantastic job! My dogs were happy and did very well under Jean's care. I will definitely use her again.”

About: My wife and I had a dog for 13 years and enjoyed taking her hiking and swimming throughout her active years and snuggling on the couch when she became a senior. I'm familiar with the whole life cycle of dog care. From helping puppies get all the wiggles out to carrying seniors whose legs are arthritic and no longer at their best. Now that our girl, Nala has passed away, we are enjoying connecting with others' pets. I have an unconventional schedule for work and am available to let your dog out from 9 am until noon on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Wednesdays and Thursdays are my days off and I'm free to hang with your pup any time! I'm very committed to pet safety and will want to understand all situations in which your dog may become reactive so that we avoid putting your pet in a situation that will make him or her uncomfortable. I also have a tracker that I like to put on all dogs in my care just in case they get spooked or something unexpected happens while we are together.
“Pros: - Fed them - gave them meds - took them for potty - First time they came they stayed the fully scheduled amount of time - Willing to come to our house before scheduling so the dogs could meet them. Cons: - Only stayed between 12 and 17 minutes for three of the four drop ins - On the second night they didn’t get to our house until two hours after their scheduled time (we have security cameras in our house so we could see). I messaged them and tried calling but they never responded and the call went straight to voicemail.”

About: Hi! My name is Hannah, I have been a pet care provider part time for many years and now it is becoming my full time job. I have been a dog walker for several years and have experience training puppies. I love animals and I have been a pet owner my entire life, two dogs and a cat. I have experience caring for multiple high energy animals at a time. I like to go on hikes and would love to bring your pets along! I have cared for many senior dogs that need extra attention as well. I have a lot of experience pet sitting for dogs that need medication and can accommodate any of your pets needs. I can't wait to meet your pets!
“Emma came for a midday drop-in visit for my dog, Rizzo, while I went into my office. She gave Rizzo a potty break out in the backyard. Played fetch h with her, and gave her a snack. The house was left just as she found it. 😊 We will definitely use Emma again, whenever the need may arise.”

“Courtney was absolutely amazing. She sent plenty of photos along with thoughtful, detailed updates, and my cat clearly adored her. I’m so grateful for her — especially for being so flexible on such short notice. I would book her again in a heartbeat, 1000%!”

“Allison took care of my cat for 3 days over Thanksgiving, including Thanksgiving day itself, which I really appreciated. She texted photos when the reclusive cat made an appearance, otherwise she texted a photo of the cat food & water bowl. The cat seemed just fine upon my return. All went as scheduled.”
“Leticia did a great job taking care of my cat Madison. Madison is a loner and doesn't warm up to people but he trusted Leticia from the start. I loved the photos and videos that she forwarded to me. It gave me peace of mind to know that he was well cared for. I hope that Leticia will be available the next time I need to be away from home for an extended period of time.”

“Bryan did an excellent job dropping in on our two elderly dogs and my cat 4x a day for three days. I highly recommend him. He followed my instructions with medications for my dogs precisely. Walked and spent time with them all and sent great pictures and reports daily. We are very pleased with Bryan’s outstanding care for our fur babies. I already rebooked with him for future dates.”

“Susanne was wonderful with our dogs and took such great care of them this week. She was communicative, helpful, and incredibly thoughtful. She even cleaned up after one of our dogs got sick right before she arrived, which we really appreciated. It gave me a lot of peace of mind knowing they were in such caring hands. We’re very grateful for her help and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate sitter.”

“Ryder seemed to take to Kayla fast, usually he runs and hides. I was surprised when Kayla sent me a picture of her petting him and brushing him. I was so happy to see that! Kayla didn't make it to the last visit because of a family emergency, but I actually got home earlier than I expected. So he didn't have to wait to long to get his breakfast. I would definitely use Kayla again and would recommend her to others.”

“I am so grateful to have found Lindsay. She's a natural with dogs -- relaxed, confident, loving, friendly and quite literally gets down on their level to connect. She was more than willing to come over for a meet & greet with our dog to help ease any concerns prior to her first booking. I loved her personality and level of customer service and her communication is exceptional. She's very punctual with her visits but also remains flexible knowing changes are sometimes needed. I look forward to continuing to work with Lindsay moving forward.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 13, I have watched family, friends, and neighbors dogs. I also have experience with dogs that need medication or extra care! I have watched dogs of all ages as well! I’m currently a college student so I have plenty of time to play with pets on days I don’t have class, and during class days I can stop by and do quick potty breaks! I love to make sure that pets have everything they need, including lots of pets and cuddles. I have one dog of my own at home as well!

I was very pleased with Parker caring for my cat. He always runs and hides from people when they come to my house. Parker actually got Ryder to come out and let her pet him. Parker also kept me posted everyday and sent me pics of Ryder. I will definitely use Parker again and highly recommend Parker to care for anyone's fur baby!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
